Winnipeg Jets History
The Winnipeg Jets were founded in 1997 as the Thrashers, and began play in the 1999–2000 NHL season, spending 11 seasons in Atlanta and making the playoffs once in 2006-2007. In 2011, the franchise was sold to True North Sports and Entertainment, which relocated the team to Winnipeg and adopted the name of the city's original franchise in the World Hockey Association, the Jets.
Major league hockey dates back to 1972 in Winnipeg, which was home to one of the founding franchises of the WHA and one of four (along with Quebec, Hartford and Edmonton) to join the NHL when the leagues merged in 1979. The original Jets moved to Phoenix in 1996 and became the Phoenix Coyotes (then the Arizona Coyotes, who were in play from 1994 to 2024). In the 14 seasons that the Jets have been in Winnipeg, they’ve made eight playoff appearances, including a run to the Western Conference Finals in 2018.
In 2016, the team established the Winnipeg Jets Hall of Fame, with the "Hot Line" trio of Anders Hedberg, Bobby Hull and Ulf Nilsson as the inaugural inductees. Recent inductees include Teemu Selänne and Teppo Numminen.

This was an awesome game !!! Im glad I had my daughter n my neice n my Bro with me to watch this great game !! Then afrterwards great eats n drinks to finish off the night in Winnipeg !!
Great game!!!!!!!!!!! Go Jets go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice new hockey centre to watch a game, easy to get there. Depending on where you sit, for some third level areas, the nearer rink board viewing is blocked (so you need to watch play on a huge screen above, not best given the ticket prices). Only really bad issue was the security, they will block you from walking around the first level after the game, so if you need to meet someone, meet them outside if you can. All else good, but this could be my last NHL game, the game was a bit boring and I could pay way, way less to watch good hockey (U-Sports, Juniors).
I went with my daughter who is a great Jets fan and we had made the trip from Northwestern Ontario just to go to the game. This is her 2nd Jets game the first game was in Jan 2018 , I got her and I tickets to the Jets vs Buffalo Sabres. We had fun on our Christmas Hoildays from work and wanted to come to another game if we can secure tickets and I did and also to March 23/2018 game vs Anaheim Ducklings !!
Conveniantely located beside Radisson hotel and other hotels nearby
Decent seats we use to go to the old arena and the upper seats were terrible. These seats had a good line of sight and the sound system as well as the scoreboard make watching the game a great pleasure. Too bad the Jets lost
Jets put on a good game with the Blues, after biting the bullet the day before. Helly got his 2nd shutout of the season, along four Jets getting on the board.
So much fun. For all ages. My son is 8 and he loved it. I seemed to be just as entertained. 3rd year in a row we have gone.
I ended up coming home with a very upset little boy. Even though we had great seats, we weren’t able to get an autograph from any of the players. The kids in the very front rows kept swarming and going up for multiple autographs and did not give other children a chance. The players did not stick around long enough to give many autographs either, as by the time we almost got down there, security was sending us back because there was no one there anymore. It was incredibly disheartening to watch my little boy line up several times, only to be sent back by security each and every time. It was poorly controlled.
Took our family to the skills game we all had a great time it was fun and affordable.
Great event! Loved how the Jets signed jerseys for the kids!
Had so much fun watching the competition, loved it
Being told by family that it’s more for little kids is a lie. I’m 17 and that was the best night of my life
Was our first skills competition and thought it was really. Thought the player interaction was great, thought the give away a could have been better with more of and better spread out. Overall a really good time.
As always, the Jets crew put on a fun family event!! Very organized, entertaining and lots of fun! The arena is beautiful and comfortable. Food really is not badly priced and lots of choices. Will be going back for the skills comp next year and hope to catch more games this season!!
We recently attended the Jets skill competition In Winnipeg, MB. We had 100 level seats which were great....other than the fact that it was the prime autograph area. If you intend on watching the competition, you are better off getting seats which are higher up as to avoid the throngs of people waiting for autographs and blocking your view. Security attempted to clear them out during the competition but by the time they did, it was well into the skill demonstration. I had one of these young autograph hunters with me so it was a good location for us, but certainly not for everyone.
While the evening had a cool vibe, the competition was extremely slow moving and for those of us not in the reds, not very entertaining. I know now it was family/fans/kid night. The skills components almost an afterthought. It was fun to see the younger players having fun and making a game of it. We wouldn't go again.
Fun, affordable NHL hockey event. Great event for young families.
There is really no bad seat in the Bell MTS Centre, especially when one can witness the epic shorthanded goal by Mark Scheifele who tied the game at 3 with 14.4 seconds left in the 3rd period and who set up the game winning goal by Tyler Myers in overtime. The Jets never gave up in spite of a 3-1 deficit in the third period and were full value for the comeback. A Jets game is a great experience.
