The WWE is the world's largest wrestling promotion corporation. Founded by Jess McMahon and Toots Mondt in 1953 as Capitol Wrestling Corporation, the organization now hosts more than 500 events per year across the globe. In 1982, McMahon’s grandson Vincent K. McMahon bought Capitol Wrestling and was fundamental to turning the WWE into a widespread and enduring sports entertainment product.
Initially, McMahon built up the WWE roster with future superstars such as Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper and Jesse Ventura and launched the organization’s annual marquee event, WrestleMania, in 1985. Over the years, WrestleMania has offered plenty of unforgettable moments like the Hulk Hogan-André the Giant championship match in 1987, the generation-shifting face-off between Bret Hart and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in 1997 and The Undertaker’s 21-year winning streak at the event. The WWE will celebrate the 40th annual WrestleMania in 2024.
By the late ’80s and early ’90s, there was a full roster of hardcore brawlers, including Shawn Michaels, Hart, Ric Flair and "Macho Man" Randy Savage, who were later joined by a new crop of “Attitude Era” stars such as Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H and Mankind as the organization grew into a touring juggernaut. Another infusion of talent joined the WWE during the late aughts and early ’10s, including John Cena, Roman Reigns, Charlotte Flair, CM Punk, and Becky Lynch.
The WWE continued to reinvent itself as it created the separate Raw and SmackDown brands in 2002, launched various offshoot brands including the ECW and WWE NXT and introduced a 24/7 streaming network in 2014. The companies behind the WWE and mixed-martial arts promoter Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) merged into TKO Group Holdings in 2023.

Such and awesome atmosphere, friggen amazing show.
The wrestling was great!! However, someone was sitting in my son's seats and he had to move!! Therefore, I am not impressed with the venue.
It was a good time - some of the magic was lost seeing it live...
First time I have been to live wrestling and I thought it was alot of fun!! The only thing was it was a little boring a few times when they would be waiting for the next fight and nothing was going on and nothing was being said or anything...we were just waiting. They should fill those gaps w/ fight replays on the big screen or have the announcer giving stats on the wrestlers...or something. They also should have an actual intermission where you can go get food/drink and to the washrooms w/out missing out on anything.
First time viewer and first time to rexall place. Very entertaining!!! +++action, and thrills.
Surprised at the # of empty seats. All matches were well contested. Floor seats have one downside - all the signs people hold up for the camera.
My kids and i had an awesome time at raw and will follow it on tv till it comes back to calgary again!!!!
The wrestling performances were well done. The wrestlers "Entrances" could have been better as there was more than enough room on the floor to get them more like the televised "Entrances". Merchandise prices were reasonable. Especially T-shirts! Items seemed to be well in stock. Programs were over priced by about $10.00 (selling for $20.00/ea). I didn't see any photos to buy for autographs. I may have missed them. The wrestlers didn't hold an autograph session!! All in all, the fans were pumped up through out the event.
It was great beiging in the stands cherring and screming till we lost our zoice the atmosphere was awsom
I'll always be "a fan for life", but WWE has got to take it to the next level. They should carry a better selection of merchandise (ie. Real size belts, more Bret HART when in ALberta). They need meet and greet contests, autograph signing, crowd participation. They could do so much more with a little planning.
well, the night started with our seats being moved to a new location and to my amazement they were better than the original seats...way to go rexall...kudoos, the matches were well planned and enjoyed as the atmosphere started with thier rants... I expecially enjoyed the abraham washington speeel...got sick of cm punk fans but enjoyed the canadian talent that the fans got behind.Hopefully next time wwe brings back more shows at a faster pace rather than having to wait 4+ yrs. Till next time ...
It was pretty good. I am a casual fan and I thought it was a good show. I found the ECW part more enjoyable than the Smackdown part, regardless I was entertained. And the seats I was in were reasonably priced as well! The only complaint I had was the only good star that showed up was Jeff Hardy. I wish there were more famous wrestlers like the Undertaker, Triple H, etc. Overall, I had a good time and will go to the next WWE show that is in Edmonton or possilby Calgary
I wasn't a fan to begin with. Went moreso for the kids who are big time fans. Must say that by the time the cage match started, I was cheering on my favorites! Time in between the matches was a bit boring unless you follow on a weekly basis and know who's who and whats going on. Nonetheless, found it entertaining. Jeff Hardy's swanton bomb is a sweet move!
I applaude all the wrestlers that made an apperance. They put on a very good show, but the WWE could of sent a few more stars with the show. I was disappointed with the very few stars that showed up for what was suppose to be a big event. I would have to say that the price was excellant. Maybe if I went to a bigger venue I would get the satisfaction of seeing more stars.
Our family was blow away the show WWE puts on for their fans. My son who is 10 said it was the best day of his life. Thank you Rexall Place for bring this venue to Edmonton.
WWE/ECW was amazing , its a unforgettable night .. i loved it!
My little boy and I watch all the WWE shows together! He was so excited to get to see the wrestlers in real life! And, it was a great experience for me as well! I've watched wrestling myself as a child, and it was and is a wonderful experience to be able to share it with my child! Thank you!
good presentation, enjoyable event for the price. would go again as these guys are in great shape to do what they do.
The event was awesome had a great time. It was great getting to see all the different superstars at this event.
This even was worth every penny! My children are only 5 and 9 and had a great time too, it was a well produced event with no lag time between shows. It was great to see all of the preformers, they are extremely talented and kept us entertained for a show that lasted over 3 hours! With no intermission! I would definatly recomend to see this show!
