The WWE is the world's largest wrestling promotion corporation. Founded by Jess McMahon and Toots Mondt in 1953 as Capitol Wrestling Corporation, the organization now hosts more than 500 events per year across the globe. In 1982, McMahon’s grandson Vincent K. McMahon bought Capitol Wrestling and was fundamental to turning the WWE into a widespread and enduring sports entertainment product.
Initially, McMahon built up the WWE roster with future superstars such as Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper and Jesse Ventura and launched the organization’s annual marquee event, WrestleMania, in 1985. Over the years, WrestleMania has offered plenty of unforgettable moments like the Hulk Hogan-André the Giant championship match in 1987, the generation-shifting face-off between Bret Hart and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in 1997 and The Undertaker’s 21-year winning streak at the event. The WWE will celebrate the 40th annual WrestleMania in 2024.
By the late ’80s and early ’90s, there was a full roster of hardcore brawlers, including Shawn Michaels, Hart, Ric Flair and "Macho Man" Randy Savage, who were later joined by a new crop of “Attitude Era” stars such as Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H and Mankind as the organization grew into a touring juggernaut. Another infusion of talent joined the WWE during the late aughts and early ’10s, including John Cena, Roman Reigns, Charlotte Flair, CM Punk, and Becky Lynch.
The WWE continued to reinvent itself as it created the separate Raw and SmackDown brands in 2002, launched various offshoot brands including the ECW and WWE NXT and introduced a 24/7 streaming network in 2014. The companies behind the WWE and mixed-martial arts promoter Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) merged into TKO Group Holdings in 2023.

the event was awesome , the only thing was where we were sitting they had a curtian covering part of the big screen so we couldnt always see it.
Show was simply put - AMAZING! Started on time - and relatively little down time between ECW & Smackdown. This was my first event and I had great time. Sound & Special Effects were good and the atmosphere of the place blew my mind! I will go again next time it comes
TOO COOL, CANT WAIT TO WATCH IT AGAIN ON TV! OUR 10 YEAR OLD WAS ECSTATIC ALSO!
It was great. Stage and wrestlers closer than in an arena. Great atmosphere!! Super for families.
This was the best WWE production I've been to so far. Feels wierd to say it but Smackdown live beats Raw live everytime. Even ECW had some enjoyable matches. Dolph Ziggler and Shelton Benjamin put on a hell of a show. Its always fun being a part of the live crowd, so much emotion, so much passion. WWE has the greatest fans on Earth.
wwe is one of my favorite shows and this is the first time i watched it live and i have got to say that it was awesome.
It was a great show there was a lot of suprises, they should come here more often.
I have been to many WWE events and i must say that this one didnt cut it. Everything seemed confusing with the taping of the show. But over all it was good to see the wrestlers and letting my little cousins enjoy a wwe event for the first time. Not to Shabby
this was probably the most entertaining smackdown that i have seen in a long time.i used to work with one of the preformers and it was nice to see them on such a big stage for the first time live.
After an abscence of too many years, the WWE came to Edmonton. Rexall place was filled with wrestling fans of all ages from babes in arms to octogenarians!. Ticket prices while better than last time still hit the pocket book pretty hard, but when our heroes came out ..it was worth it. The fireworks were loud, the crowd roaring and the sight of our champions were like a magic potion transfering us from our seat to a ringside view of the gladiators of Rome. Surprising was the speed of each match. Some went by in the blink of an eye merely a token appearance. While others seemed to last a long time like a slow motion dream sequence as our heroes and villains battled it out for supremacy. The actual size of these entertainers was amazing. The slim toned bodies of the cute ones like John Morrison and Jeff Hardy: the height of the tall Like Big Show & Gold dust. and yes the muscular prowess of Ezekiel Jackson and Shad (Cryme Tyme). Television just does not do them justice . And lets not forget the speed with which the stage hands change the scenary, moved the props in or out, and made sure that the appropriate folding chair was available when needed. The signs everyone insists on holding up get very annoying and especially when the person holding it up is not so interested in the match before them, but more whether or not they can see their sign on tv. Personally I prefer watching the match and voicing my opinion as the lack of voice after the show attests. Edmonton fans in true hockey fan fashion began chanting "lets go Oilers" when the ladies match became slow and boring.I guess their nubile bodies were not enough for the action starved wrestling fans of Edmonton. Some delusions were shattered when a mis placed knee drop off the ropes actually did not hit the target. However the target reacted as though it had . The evening went by very quickly, and without any form of intermission (for which my bladder is still complaining), but it was a good night of entertainment filled with the usual variety of WWE Villains and heroes, some who have met before and some who have not.Our favourite moment was when the estranged brothers of the Hardy clan seemed to forget their differences as Matt Hardy came running to the rescue of his younger brother after a vicious attack by C.M punk, after Jeff had been smacked down by the Harts. The Melee leads us to believe the Hardy boys are A ok ...again. While I would recommend this type of night out for my sons, I would definitely issue caution to a family with younger children. And even as I say that the group of 9 and 10 year olds behind me knew what was obviously staged and what was apparently not. A good time was had by all, except of course those nursing their wounds and bruised egos. Thanks WWE for coming to Edmonton, don't stay away too long!
The 4 year absence of WWE in Edmonton has wrestling fans in Edmonton miss out on some very entertaining sports entertainment. The crowd was hyped, and the atmosphere was amazing. Hometown heroes Chris Jericho and Hart Foundation were cheered eventhough they are considered "heels". Jeff Hardy and CM Punk gutted it out and put on a great show, and even competed in a dark steel cage match afterward. Please come back soon!!
Everything about the show was amazing. I felt like i was a real part of the show.
Watching wrestling on tv is one thing, but being a part of a crowd that is involved in a match is entirely different. The atmosphere alone is worth the price of admission; and admission is very reasonable. It's amazing how well everything about the show runs.
is was awesome both of my kids loved it to death, they would love to see it again
Really exciting to see Raw in person. But the one I wanted to see was not there Triple H. All and all it was great.
Lots of action for both brands. Good commentary. The arena wanted too see more extreme action on ECW but still good show. The ending on SMACKDOWN was awesome. FAns around world will enjoy this week show on Friday.
The first time I went I wasn't sure what to expect as I more in awe of the event structures and crowd then the action. Using that knowledge from my first experience, I'm also more into wrestling then before, especially Diva stuff. Overall I had a very good time with a good view of the ring and wrestler entrance area, with just one complaint. My favorite Diva was there but didn't come to the ring, she only appeared backstage on the big screen.
If you ever get the chance to go to a Live WWE event. You better go cause it was awesome, This was my first wwe event Ive gone to and i thought it was better then watching it on tv.
THE SHOW WAS REALLY KID FRIENLY I THINK. IT DIDN'T GET OUT OF HAND, AND IT WAS GOOD VALUE FOR THE MONEY.
Even though the show - wrestling wasOK, there were a couple of incidents with drunken people,as well as unacceptable offences to Canada. If the show is focused on wrestling, please stick on wrestling and do not include offensive sketches.
