The WWE is the world's largest wrestling promotion corporation. Founded by Jess McMahon and Toots Mondt in 1953 as Capitol Wrestling Corporation, the organization now hosts more than 500 events per year across the globe. In 1982, McMahon’s grandson Vincent K. McMahon bought Capitol Wrestling and was fundamental to turning the WWE into a widespread and enduring sports entertainment product.
Initially, McMahon built up the WWE roster with future superstars such as Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper and Jesse Ventura and launched the organization’s annual marquee event, WrestleMania, in 1985. Over the years, WrestleMania has offered plenty of unforgettable moments like the Hulk Hogan-André the Giant championship match in 1987, the generation-shifting face-off between Bret Hart and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in 1997 and The Undertaker’s 21-year winning streak at the event. The WWE will celebrate the 40th annual WrestleMania in 2024.
By the late ’80s and early ’90s, there was a full roster of hardcore brawlers, including Shawn Michaels, Hart, Ric Flair and "Macho Man" Randy Savage, who were later joined by a new crop of “Attitude Era” stars such as Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H and Mankind as the organization grew into a touring juggernaut. Another infusion of talent joined the WWE during the late aughts and early ’10s, including John Cena, Roman Reigns, Charlotte Flair, CM Punk, and Becky Lynch.
The WWE continued to reinvent itself as it created the separate Raw and SmackDown brands in 2002, launched various offshoot brands including the ECW and WWE NXT and introduced a 24/7 streaming network in 2014. The companies behind the WWE and mixed-martial arts promoter Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) merged into TKO Group Holdings in 2023.

These wrestlers really put forth and effort to provide a great show. My kids really loved it.
It was Saturday night, and people were lind up around Regina's Brandt Centre for the event of the year.
EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT KIDS LOVED IT
I thought the wrestling was good, But I don't like to wait 5 minutes between each match because they need to talk. I don't like the great Kahli he is too big and can barely move. I am upset that none of the Hart's won a match, considering where we are in Regina.
This was a event the my boy will never forget!!!!!!!
My wife and I took our kids aged 11 &12 to WWE Smackdown. It was much better than expected. Our kids loved it ,I quite enjoyed the Divas and my wife liked the guys
WWE in Regina proved to be a success. Lots of dramatic moves and hilarious moments from spectators in the crowd! I would definatley go again!
Went to the WWE in Regina August 08, 2009. They put on a terrific show.
I really liked the number of superstars they had for the event.. There were some great matches, especially the main event,, I would definately go again, if they were to come back. From the floor seating, it was kind of hard to see sometimes,, there was a really tall guy infront of me,, I had to move around a lot. All in all,, I would definately go to another event like that.
WWE returned to Regina for the first time in about 4-5 years, and it was quite the show. I was a little disappointed that some of my favourite superstars Rey Mysterio, Jeff Hardy, and Edge were not able to make it. All in all, I still had a blast, as even the mid-carders put on some entertaining matches, including Drew McIntyre and Tyson Kidd. My favourite match was John Morrison vs. Dolph Ziggler, followed by Chris Jericho vs. CM Punk.
The main event was good and got the crowd goine. The whole evening was action packed with very little delay time and a well timed brief intermission. My kids loved it and were very glad to be there. That was the point!
the matches were good-but the view from floor seats was terrible because of people violating the recording terms-security wasn't watching but overall after I moved higher up the view and the matches were up to par.
my kids had a blast watching all the wwe wrestlers
It has been a long time since the WWE was in Regina and I knew I wasn't missing this for anything... The show was amazing and it was so much fun... the crowd was into the show and was sooo loud at times... it was GREAT... I recommend the WWE to anybody... They put on a terrific show... Thank you WWE for coming to Regina and thanks for putting on such an amazing show... Hope to see you real soon again!
As I sit here in my John Cena tshirt and my Jeff Hardy wristbands (arm sleeves, whatever you wanna call them) I still cannot get the damn smile off my face. My throat is ABSOLUTELY killing and I bet the old guy behind me is deaf. I have never hooted and hollared so much in my life as I did at the 2009 Summer Slam Tour tonight. OMG I saw Finlay beat the bejeebies outta some Scottish dude who weighs 19 stone (yep, that's what they said). John Morrison connected "Starship Pain" to beat Dolph Ziggler. And, yes, Morrison IS the "Shaman of Sexy" Shad "Gas Bar" took on the Hart Dynasty and whooped butt! "Cause it's all about the money YA YA" Melina and Maria beat Layla and Natayla (funny, Natalya may be a Canuck but she got booed and bad ) Although I didn't get to kiss him, he DID point at me and saw my poster...the Great Khali demolished Mike Knox. Something about the Punjabi Frankenstein OMG and Charles Robinson was the main referee WHO gets excited to see a referee?! ME OK!? Christian retained his ECW Title against Tommy Dreamer and William Regal (YOU SUCK! ) Vladimir Kozlov wasn't wearing his infamous tighty whities but was decked out in red to win in his match against Golddust (VERY honourable performance though ) And then the main event...... Chris Jericho broke down the walls and let us call him Y2J but it was CM Punk and the go to sleep that made Punk #1 Contender for the match against Jeff Hardy at Summer Slam on August 23. While the crowd went crazy for Y2J, a lone boy and myself screamed to no end "CM PUNK....CM PUNK" OMG WWE is sooooooooooooooooooooo amazing in person I cannot wait for my next live event. Calgary Monday anyone? lol ahhhhhhhhh but if only.
I took my son to this, I'm not a wrestling fan anymore, but I was back in the day. This was not a show...there were about 6 white lights shining down on the ring, and the wrestlers came out through a black curtain. I realize we shouldn't expect the events they show on RAW or SmackDown, but for $65 a ticket (we were on the floor) I would expect somewhat of a lightshow. On top of that disappointment, every fight went the same way...they walk around the ring for 5 minutes, gesturing to the crowd, the "wrestle" for a bit, then stop and "complain" to the ref about stuff. Then, at least 3 times per fight, the "good guy" would be in some kind of chokehold, raising his hands, trying to get everyone to cheer for him. Come on, we all know it's fake, we're not there to cheer for a good guy and boo the bad guy, we want top rope jumps, long, drawn out arguments, chairs across the backs, that kind of stuff. If you haven't gone, don't buy tickets, or try to sell them, you'll be happier.
Truly a great show with many of the top stars from two of WWE's three brands. This company hasn't been here in several years and we don't have a lot of live wrestling to see in person so I'm sure the Regina audience loved it and will grow exponentially if they come back more regularly. It had all the action you would expect from a great WWE show; including Diva's matches, in ring promo's, comedy, main eventers, and even some up-and-coming stars of the future we haven't been introduced to yet. I will always come back and I hope they will too.
The show was great all around, wrestlers all did a good job of getting the crowd involved, energy level of the night was great. Huge disappointment of not seeing Jeff Hardy or Rey Mysterio there, the two biggest names on Smackdown....my son was not impressed with this. Neither was I, especially after spending $50 on Jeff hardy merchandise.... All around it was still worth the ticket price, very entertaining night!
I have been every time they have came to regina and i have to say this was the best show yet! The matches were excellent, the crowd interaction/participation was better then ever!! Some of the wrestlers actual went out of thier way to boost the crowd up and get them going which in turn made it that much more exciting for the wrestlers themselves. The crowd turn out has been better then previous years as well, I wont hesitate to go the next time they come back, which by my personal take on the whole event they could even return next year!! i would be dissapointed if they didnt come back next year considering the overall experience.
-the seating for this event was very confusing. Many people had no idea where to sit. We asked five different people working there to help find our seats and they were even confused. In the end our seats were not good for seeing the matches but were great for the kids to run up to the gate and slap hands with the wrestlers as they came in and out, so win/lose situation. -the matches were great, lots of excitement. -the show was the perfect amount of time, without a big intermission. -the only thing not great--originally when I purchased tickets Rey Mysterio and one of the Hardy wrestlers were in the line up. We bought the tickets because of Rey. To see him not there was a huge disappointment to my son. I wish you would have had a proper list of who was coming in one of your reminder emails. -We still enjoyed the show and would see it again though.
