About

The WWE is the world's largest wrestling promotion corporation. Founded by Jess McMahon and Toots Mondt in 1953 as Capitol Wrestling Corporation, the organization now hosts more than 500 events per year across the globe. In 1982, McMahon’s grandson Vincent K. McMahon bought Capitol Wrestling and was fundamental to turning the WWE into a widespread and enduring sports entertainment product.

Initially, McMahon built up the WWE roster with future superstars such as Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper and Jesse Ventura and launched the organization’s annual marquee event, WrestleMania, in 1985. Over the years, WrestleMania has offered plenty of unforgettable moments like the Hulk Hogan-André the Giant championship match in 1987, the generation-shifting face-off between Bret Hart and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in 1997 and The Undertaker’s 21-year winning streak at the event. The WWE will celebrate the 40th annual WrestleMania in 2024.

By the late ’80s and early ’90s, there was a full roster of hardcore brawlers, including Shawn Michaels, Hart, Ric Flair and "Macho Man" Randy Savage, who were later joined by a new crop of “Attitude Era” stars such as Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H and Mankind as the organization grew into a touring juggernaut. Another infusion of talent joined the WWE during the late aughts and early ’10s, including John Cena, Roman Reigns, Charlotte Flair, CM Punk, and Becky Lynch.

The WWE continued to reinvent itself as it created the separate Raw and SmackDown brands in 2002, launched various offshoot brands including the ECW and WWE NXT and introduced a 24/7 streaming network in 2014. The companies behind the WWE and mixed-martial arts promoter Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) merged into TKO Group Holdings in 2023.

  • Grandson was thrilled!

by dbeers on 2009-08-11Pengrowth Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

I bought the tickets for my future-son-in-law and my 11 year old grandson! My grandson was THRILLED and thought he was seeing movie stars! My son-in-law is a sports nut and called to tell us that the seats were great and the smile on my grandson's face was priceless!!! It was also a time for my future-son-in-law to "bond" with his future son!! Thank you!

  • WWE RAW great entertainment

Very good show especially for my 10 year old who is a huge fan and the day of the event could not have come soon enough!! Good entertainment value!!!

  • Raw. Surprisingly good!

by McMom on 2009-08-11Pengrowth Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

My 8 year old son and I snuggle on the couch Monday nights and watch Raw. When we heard that the show was coming to the Saddledome we were very excited! I had heard some very negative things about past shows, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Our seats turned out to be incredible and our view was excellent! The show was very entertaining and my son has been constantly asking when the next one is!!

  • WWE - A WASTE OF $40

by Jewelzzz on 2009-08-11Enmax Centrium - Red DeerRating: 1 out of 5

Our seats were crap. There was almost a whole section to the left of us that was empty and a lot of people moved over to be closer to the stage. We were told once we got there that the main wrestler Chris Jericho wasn't going to be there and we could get our money refunded IF we left before the end of the second match. We stayed only because we thought that the other wrestlers they advertised were going to be there. The only ones to show were CM Punk and Christian. We were terribly dissapointed in that fact and wish we would have got our money back. The staff was very disrespectful to the wrestlers. They weren't even out of the ring and the staff was already taking down chairs and trying to sweep the floor. Makes me NEVER want to attend anything at the Centrium again. I would rather go to Calgary and Edmonton.

  • WWE was unforgettable

The city of Calgary and the Pengrowth Saddledome along with the *stars* put on a great show!! It was amazing to see live and we would go again in a heartbeat if the event comes back to Calgary!! Worth every cent, no matter how much you paid for the tickets!

Really good show, Special effects add greatly to over all performance.

  • WWE Raw - Calgary Canada!! Blew the Doors Off!

    by crazy4wwe on 2009-08-11Pengrowth Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Gotta say...this was a first for me. Took my son and he absolutley loved it and for me, I thought aside from the acting in some, it was, as they say...WWE RAW! Just the right amount of time, around 3-hours, kept everyone active and involved.

  • Entertaining, but signs of recession are obvious

by Jillylicious on 2009-08-11Pengrowth Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

This was my second time seeing WWE Raw Live. Our first performance was about 5 years ago. In that time it's become clear that WWE Raw is trying to cut costs and make more money. There were substantial "empty" spots, especially in the latter half of the performance, while we endured commercial breaks. Everyone understands that with a live performance there will be commercial breaks, but we spent a lot of time sitting and watching nothing during those breaks. I would have preferred to see Raw use that time to entertain its paying customers a little more. As usual the crowd was passionate and enthusiastic, and it rubbed off on all of us. Cheering and chanting helped keep the audience upbeat, and a stellar performance from Beth Phoenix as well as the final heated match between John Cena and Randy Orton made for real action. I'll definitely see Raw again when it comes to Calgary, since I'm a wrestling fan and this is a quality performance with huge TV screens, pyrotechnics, music, and drama, but I know that I'll be hoping for a little better planning to accomodate commercial breaks and fill a little more dead time.

  • Chris Jericho looked so small next to Big show

by Tweetypoo on 2009-08-11Pengrowth Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

John Cena was pretty funny. I really like his character. Didn't like that we got teased that Bret Hart was coming out.

  • Monday Night Raw was good entertainment

by sharkbait on 2009-08-11Pengrowth Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

We enjoyed the show, but was somewhat disappointed that WWE would lead the fans to believe that Brett Hart was coming out, and he never did. Also having the Seargent for a guest host was not enjoyable, just to get the fans annoyed. Otherwise, good entertainment by the other wrestlers

  • WWE. My daughter loved it.

by Banshie on 2009-08-11Brandt Centre - Evraz Place - ReginaRating: 4 out of 5

My daughter was so happy to find out that I got tickets. The show was great, the build up was worth waiting for. Maybe bring a few more Diva's next time(lol). We had a great time, lots of action. The ring antics were classic. Its such a good thing to see a wide variety of top knotch entertainment come to or small but proud city and province.

  • wwe was great

by daddycanuck on 2009-08-10Brandt Centre - Evraz Place - ReginaRating: 4 out of 5

I thought Smackdown and ECW in Regina was one of the most entertaining events I had ever seen. I would definately go again.

My husband and I took our son for his birthday expecting it to be all just for kids. Surprisingly enough, it was actually quite entertaining for us as well. Maybe more for the laughs of how fake it was, but still we had a good time as a family. Would probably go again. Would have liked to see the Hardy's though!!!

  • wonderful entertainment fabulpus

by papab on 2009-08-10Brandt Centre - Evraz Place - ReginaRating: 4 out of 5

I took my grandson to the WWE in Regina Sask. We enjoy watching together on tv every week it was a wonderful experience and one that we will do together again. The only part that we missed that there was no tag team matches between the men and there was no top named wrestlers. We did love the triple threat match . This was an experience we will never forget and thanks for the opportunity to watch it close to home

  • Jerilo was awesome!

  • WWE rocked for all ages

    by Mandy13 on 2009-08-10Brandt Centre - Evraz Place - ReginaRating: 4 out of 5

I bought these tickets for my 9yr old daughter and her father and was the best present ever. They totally enjoyed themselves. I didn't know what my daughter would think but after hearing about her hugging her dad during the event and then putting him in a head lock and pretending to feed him shots like they were doing up in the ring was enough thanks for the tickets. It made her dad's day when she tried to act like the wrestlers. It was totally an all ages event that kept everybody entertained.

SHOW WAS ALRIGHT. DECENT VALUE. LACKS THE SHOWMANSHIP DISPLAYED ON TV. KIDS ENJOYED THE SHOW.

  • WWE a success

by hetterbr on 2009-08-10Brandt Centre - Evraz Place - ReginaRating: 4 out of 5

The wrestling lived up to the hype. The action was pretty much non-stop for 2.5 hours. The kids got to see some of their favorite wrestlers up close. The ticket price was very reasonable considering we had 2.5 hours of entertainment. Good Job
