About

Roger Waters found international fame as a founding member of legendary progressive rock band Pink Floyd. Selling over 250 million albums worldwide and being inducted into both the British and American Rock & Roll Halls Of Fame, Pink Floyd is one of the most influential bands of the 20th century. Roger Walters has also had tremendous success as a solo artist, releasing three studio albums and touring extensively all across the globe.
Roger was the creative force behind the prime years of Pink Floyd's impressive run. From the classic album The Dark Side Of The Moon in 1968 until Final Cut in 1983, Walters was responsible for the lyrics, arrangement and concept behind every album they released. By the time he left the band in 1985 they had been firmly established as one of the most critically acclaimed and best selling bands in popular music history. Albums such as The Dark Side Of The Moon and The Wall are some of the best selling albums of all time and still sell literally thousands of copies every year to this day.
After leaving Pink Floyd he moved into solo projects with albums such as Radio K.A.O.S and Amused To Death, once again concept albums in his unique style. In 1990 just after the fall of the Berlin Wall, he staged his most elaborate concert ever with a giant outdoor performance in Berlin where the Wall once stood. Featuring guest performances from the likes of Bryan Adams, Joni Mitchell and Cyndi Lauper, the concert registered an official attendance of over 200,000 people. The official live album, titled The Wall - Live, was released shortly afterwards and quickly went Platinum. This period of his career also saw Roger collaborate with artists such as Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck on various projects.
After taking a seven year break from both public eyes and the music industry, Roger returned with a bang in 1999 with a tour that started small and quickly grew. With more modest venues quickly selling out, more dates and larger venues were quickly added as the return tour expanded worldwide. For over three years Roger toured the world, culminating with a performance in front of over 70,000 at Glastonbury Festival in 2002. In 2005 Pink Floyd played together for one last time at charity event Live 8. Roger has continued his solo tours on and off since then, often performing special arrangements of Pink Floyd material mixed with his solo work.

    Heavy & politically charged show

by Mendoza on 2022-09-19Rogers Arena - Vancouver

I was somewhat prepared for the political element of this show, as I’d seen interviews with Roger, as well as bits & pieces of the show online before I went. However it was definitely a much heavier & more politically charged show than I was prepared for. Throughout the show Roger addresses nearly every war & conflict of the past 50 years with violent & disturbing video images and diatribes. It is definitely a roller coaster of emotions as he blows the roof off with a Pink Floyd classic, then slows it wayyy down with a powerfully sad piano song lamenting war crimes & refugees. I’m only 39 so I’m somewhat of a casual Pink Floyd fan, but I would warn everyone who plans to attend this show not to expect a light hearted, joyous & psychedelic type of vibe. The classic tracks were of course my personal favourites, but even some of them he cut quite short. Shine On You Crazy Diamond is my favourite Pink Floyd track and he shaved that down to about 1/4 of the full length version, which was definitely disappointing:( I personally attend concerts to escape all the heartache and anxiety of the world not to be reminded of it, but nevertheless this was a very powerful & entertaining show regardless.

    Love Roger Waters but..

    by 3rdworldprblems on 2022-09-18Rogers Arena - Vancouver

It's always a pleaure to see Roger live. He is such an icon. But I have to say the whole having the stage in the middle of the arena was a terrible idea. I basically paid hundreds of dollars to sit close to the stage but got to see Roger less than quarter of the time and couldn't see the drummer the whole time.

    Too Political.

by DougD on 2022-09-18Rogers Arena - Vancouver

I attend concerts to hear artists play, not hear their opinions on world politics and current conflicts. I knew Mr. Waters is an outspoken critic of Israel, anything Republican, and supports Palestinian aggressors. I knew he would express some ideas I don't agree with, and wish he would strictly stick to his music which was what I was there for. That said, I had a great seat and the sound was good. And no one spilled beer on me like at the Def Leppard concert series.

    Wasent all that great

by Angie on 2022-09-18Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Very disappointed, his stage design was very hard to see what was happening, and most of the time he had others playing and singing for him. Very political

    Spectacular all around!

    by C. N. on 2022-09-18Rogers Arena - Vancouver

My daughter and I truly enjoyed the concert: the show in the round for all to enjoy, "The Bar", his views and message, and the territory and land acknowledgement was noted. Great concert, he did not disappoint.

    Roger rocks.

by Junebug on 2022-09-18Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Inclusive use of space. The double sided cross like structure provided a medium where the digital displays could be seen from all angles not just from a centre stage as usual. Rogers forceful approach to global politics is especially welcome considering the amount of adversity and sociopolitical issues we have. The sound wa grating and vibrated through your body so you felt the sound. Thankful roger played all the old favourites but his new music was equal to the legendary sounds we know so well. Some in the crowd grew impatient with his stories but I was impatient with the crowd! How often do you get to share what an icon thinks! Great concert and the floating livestock was a nice touch!

    Waters can still impress.

    by B. B. on 2022-09-18Rogers Arena - Vancouver

The centered stage provided for a unique experience. So glad I didn't miss out on this one. A more intimate evening with Rogers it felt, a bit more politically inclined, an homage to Sid Barrett and some tunes from the often forgotten Final Cut album. The visuals were very impressive and original as usual. A must see.

It only took 3 years to happen, well worth the wait.

by Chia on 2022-09-18Rogers Arena - Vancouver

In the round stage set up was super cool. The band and Roger sounded great. From the classics you hope to hear to some very cool solo stuff, the show had everything you would hope for and then some. So happy I had a chance to see this show. Enjoy to those fans in the upcoming tour dates. You will not be disappointed.

    Experience

by SigmaOasis on 2022-09-18Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Rogers arena was severely understaffed and unprepared for the crowds. They didn’t open the doors until one hour before time which caused a delayed showtime . Concert was great , crowd was meh.
