About

Roger Waters found international fame as a founding member of legendary progressive rock band Pink Floyd. Selling over 250 million albums worldwide and being inducted into both the British and American Rock & Roll Halls Of Fame, Pink Floyd is one of the most influential bands of the 20th century. Roger Walters has also had tremendous success as a solo artist, releasing three studio albums and touring extensively all across the globe.
Roger was the creative force behind the prime years of Pink Floyd's impressive run. From the classic album The Dark Side Of The Moon in 1968 until Final Cut in 1983, Walters was responsible for the lyrics, arrangement and concept behind every album they released. By the time he left the band in 1985 they had been firmly established as one of the most critically acclaimed and best selling bands in popular music history. Albums such as The Dark Side Of The Moon and The Wall are some of the best selling albums of all time and still sell literally thousands of copies every year to this day.
After leaving Pink Floyd he moved into solo projects with albums such as Radio K.A.O.S and Amused To Death, once again concept albums in his unique style. In 1990 just after the fall of the Berlin Wall, he staged his most elaborate concert ever with a giant outdoor performance in Berlin where the Wall once stood. Featuring guest performances from the likes of Bryan Adams, Joni Mitchell and Cyndi Lauper, the concert registered an official attendance of over 200,000 people. The official live album, titled The Wall - Live, was released shortly afterwards and quickly went Platinum. This period of his career also saw Roger collaborate with artists such as Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck on various projects.
After taking a seven year break from both public eyes and the music industry, Roger returned with a bang in 1999 with a tour that started small and quickly grew. With more modest venues quickly selling out, more dates and larger venues were quickly added as the return tour expanded worldwide. For over three years Roger toured the world, culminating with a performance in front of over 70,000 at Glastonbury Festival in 2002. In 2005 Pink Floyd played together for one last time at charity event Live 8. Roger has continued his solo tours on and off since then, often performing special arrangements of Pink Floyd material mixed with his solo work.

    Roger waters never disappoints!

by Sharzie on 2022-09-19Rogers Arena - Vancouver

This one was a lot different than the others..in the sense it was more personal...how can it go wrong?. It doesn't! I will listen to Roger talk about his songs..the wrong doings of politics etc..any day.. intelligent and passionate and playing the best music possibly ever written to get the message out..which has always been the message...goes hand in hand and is brilliant as always!

    by K.Cole on 2022-09-19Rogers Arena - Vancouver

As a third Pink Floyd concert in my lifetime goes, I have to say “Roger Waters “ did an exceptional job along with his crew! More bang for the buck and our seats (centre stage and 17 rows up from floor) we’re the best ! Visually and all my daughter and I were just blown away! Keep up the great work Roger and crew!!

    Roger Waters

by Momzy on 2022-09-19Rogers Place - Edmonton

Recently attended the Roger Waters concert in Edmonton. What a shock to hear a track playing for Comfortably Numb. One of the greatest songs from Pink Floyd being played from a track. I also get that Roger Waters is very political but it was so overdone. I was so glad when he was just singing. So incredible. His back up singers were so unbelievable.

I'm mostly of the same political viewpoint as Roger Waters BUT I thought I was going to a music concert. The overtly political overtones of the show were completely off-putting at best. The imagery very disturbing and I saw the concert The Wall, twice and the movie countless times!! This is my 4th time seeing Roger the first was actually Pink Floyd; wow right. This time the volume was so loud it actually physically hurt my ears. As for the new material; it all sounded monotone and indistinguishable; leaving out must-hears like "Mother". I am glad to have seen one of my musical hero's 4 times and sad this will be the last. But the fans want what the fans want and if I wanted to see images of giant heads of some of the worst US presidents I'd Fucking watch CNN. Oh and Roger if you don't agree with me well "you can just fuck off" too. So much for a good o'l fashioned rock show.

Everything was smooth except for some idiots lighting up the dope & stinking up the inside of the arena/ constant loud whistles, couldn’t hear Rogers speech & songs, even at intermission, some idiot kept that loud whistle, really annoying! oh , also the beer parlours should also accept CASH, not only Debit or Credit Cards!

    Extremely disappointed

by Brudar on 2022-09-19Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Was not what we expected. There were kids there with their parents because I'm sure the parents wanted to show the kids a band they enjoyed when they were young. Glad we didn't bring our son! We were disgusted with SO MANY F-Bombs (and we're not prudes), the pretend shooting of a gun at the audience (this day and age especially) and it was just a political platform for his views. The music itself wasn't bad, really loud..my chair was vibrating the whole time, but he still has a great voice. Overall I would never go to his concert again...in fact we left before it was over.... couldn't stand another minute!

    Can't Get Any Better

by Gone fishing on 2022-09-19Rogers Place - Edmonton

Best concert I've ever seen. Loved the opening and the political activism. Roger's voice is still really good and the accompanying vocals, WOW!!! The music was awesome as well as the visuals on the screens. They blended beautifully with his songs. Hope he comes again. His solo cd's are great. I thought his performance of Deja Vu was wonderful. Really enjoyed the songs he played from the Pink Floyd days as well.

    Brilliant Production

by Onetreehill on 2022-09-19Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Roger Waters doesn't perform concerts. He creates audio visual productions that link songs on a theme that create events for his fans. I loved hearing his (as always) top notch band tear through the Floyd classics with a freshness that brought them all back to life so vividly - Side 2 of Wish You Were Here was especially good, with no disrespect to Sheep or side 2 of Dark Side. Waters' reimagining of Comfortably Numb set the tone as an unexpected opener. Despite "The Powers that Be" being the weakest song of the night, his solo work stood up well against his catalogue of classic Pink Floyd songs and were great additions. Great sound and lights with state of the art visuals, along with his killer band made this a night to remember for a very long time; Dave Kilminster is an epic guitar player...cut directly from the guitar hero mould! Loved it!!

    5th time seeing Roger Waters

40% depressing / 60% exhilarating I think RW was little too self indulgent with the political material.

    Awesome but Political

by NormS on 2022-09-19Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Fantastic show as always. I have seen Roger several times over the years and he always delivers. A true master of his craft. His music will last the test of time and generations not yet born will wonder at his creations. Yes, I am a fan. Having said that, I went to great lengths' and no small expense, to bring my family to see his show. The primary expectation when going to a concert is to be entertained. To put aside, for a short time, the troubles of the world. From start to finish, this show was politicized, and although I happen to agree with much of his politics, that is not why we were there. I did not pay to go to a political rally. I understand that Mr. Waters has a huge megaphone and feels a responsibility to use his massive platform to put forth his views. I applaud that to a certain degree however, to base the majority of a show on it is perhaps too much. The music was of course, flawless and the band beyond expectation. The other critique I would offer, and I am certain every other person that stood in the endless entry line would agree is. If you are going to search everyone and make every entrant pass through metal detection, don't wait until 7:10 PM to open the doors for a 8:00 PM show. We arrived at 7:15 PM and did not gain entry until almost 8:30 PM. That, was unacceptable. I walk with a cane and found myself in significant discomfort by the time I was seated. Considering the age range of the fans, I doubt I am alone in this. Overall, the show gets 3.5 out of 5 stars for the over politicization of the experience and Rogers Center gets a 3 for not timing the entry of guests in a manner that makes sense. Still. A fantastic show!

    Good

Roger puts on a good show as always. Good musicians playing. The sound in an indoor venue is not always the best as compared to outdoor spaces.
