About

Green Day redefined punk rock in a post-grunge world. Rising from the Bay Area punk scene in 1987, the band released several EPs before coalescing into their long-standing lineup of vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tré Cool. The trio shared the independent album Kerplunk in 1991 before releasing their major label debut Dookie in 1994. Behind singles like “Longview,” “Basket Case” and “When I Come Around,” which each topped the Alternative Airplay chart, Dookie reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Dookie earned Green Day three Grammy nominations, including a win for Best Alternative Music Performance, and the album continues to stand as the band’s best-selling release with over 20 million copies sold worldwide. Green Day followed with 1995’s Insomniac and 1997’s Nimrod, with the latter boasting the band’s biggest creative shift with the rare acoustic single, “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).” After 2000’s Warning, Green Day spent the next few years developing their first of several ambitious projects, the 2004 punk rock opera American Idiot. The album became Green Day’s first to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and it logged two Top 10 singles with “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” and “Wake Me Up When September Ends.” American Idiot garnered seven Grammy nominations and won two, including Best Rock Album. The band won the Best Rock Album Grammy again with 2009’s concept album 21st Century Breakdown. A stage adaptation of American Idiot debuted on Broadway in 2010 and won two Tony Awards and a Grammy for the cast recording. Furthermore, Green Day were first-ballot inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.

    Green Day was Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!

by BillyJoefan on 2010-08-30DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

My first "real" concert and it was AMAZING!!!! I'm sure no other concerts will compare with this concert. Green Day was just wonderful. The guys are so interactive with the audience and so funny. I can't believe he gave away his guitar, he had a 5 year old and a 10 year old up on stage - WOW!!! I can't even think of what to say except we had such an amazing time and can't wait to see them again!!!

It was amazing. My sister and I loved it so much that we decided to travel to Quebec to see them again 3 days later. The only thing that wasn't great about the show was AFI.

by BAZOO on 2010-08-25Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

GD set the bar high for other rock bands to try and get over based on their recent performance in TO. They involved the crowd from the get go and rocked for 3 hours.

    Green Day gets even better

by Chrisser46 on 2010-08-25Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

I have been following Green Day since the early 90's. They have always put on an incredible show. After the American Idiot tour I thought they may have peaked. To my surprise this tour is even better....amazing. Green Day concerts alway exceed my expectations. Each one becoming the best concert I have been to. This concert was no exception to that rule. Our tickets were only $40 and I love the outdoor venue.

    Green Day was Incredible!!!!

by Anonymous on 2010-08-24DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

Wow! Best concert I have been to. So much audience interaction, Amazing performers. I think my favourite part was when they were doing small bits of other bands songs, it showed just how talented Green Day is, although the five year old boy they pulled up on stage almost outstaged them all. They were very generous with their time and different things they threw out into the audience. I will definitely go again when they come back around to Michigan.

    Impressed one more time!!!

by charlene04 on 2010-08-24Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

This is my 4th GD show in the last 8 years and they have yet to disappoint. Perhaps this and they're last Molson Amp. Theatre show in 2002 were the two best. This was definitely a show for the old school fans! FOD, Burnout, Paper Lanterns! They never play that anymore - but on the 18th they did. Just another AMAZING Green Day show. Hope you come back prior to 2014!

2 hours and 45 minutes of non-stop hi-energy rock 'n roll with attitude. What else do you want? Probably the best show I've seen.

    Green Day...Rules Supreme

by MissyX on 2010-08-24Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Best performers you will ever see! Long show with an emphasis on fan favourites-from early days to now. They also involve the audience by asking for requests. Billie Joe is the ultimate frontman-engaging and entertaining.

    This was our night!

by Jenica25 on 2010-08-23Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

“This night is your night” were Billie Joe’s words to the crowd and by the end of the night there was not a single person present with anything on their minds but the music and the show. Green Day put on an epic high energy three hour performance including fan favorites for each generation. From kissing the lucky girl pulled up on stage, to offering half the stadium a cop-a-feel, to the traditional guitar give away the fans were constantly reminded that this was indeed their night. Billie Joe’s ability to get a crowd going and maintain the roaring energy was downright masterful and the performance set list echoed the energy of the crowd. Opening with Song of the Century Green Day got the crowd warmed up by getting the audience out of their seats and limbered. By mid show the crowd was buzzing and everyone from floors to the lawns was singing their hearts out with fists in the air to Basket Case. Finally as the night drew to an end and Billie Joe switched to the acoustic guitar the arch of the performance was complete as he bade us all Good Riddance. Indeed Green Days fans had the time of their lives.

By far the best concert ever!!!!

by Canadaaa on 2010-08-23Molson Amphitheatre - Toronto

I've seen Green Day three times, and this was by far the best concert yet. They seem to just get better and better each time that I see them. All three concerts I had pretty amazing seats and this year was no different. They put so much energy into their concerts and make sure everyone gets their moneys worth (whether you were as far aaway as possible or as close as possible) they make sure everyones involved. The best part of the concert was during Wake me up when september ends when Billie Joe coughed and couldn't sing for a few seconds so the crowd helped fill in for him. So memorable. I would definitley reccommend seeing them in concert and I know for a fact that as soon as they come back to Canada I'll be there waiting to get tickets again.

    Great Show

by Shawnjoem on 2010-08-23Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Great Show, played a long time but that was a good thing. Why does Green Day have 4 members when all pictures only show 3 of them? Are they embarassed of that 4th guy..lol
