About

Green Day redefined punk rock in a post-grunge world. Rising from the Bay Area punk scene in 1987, the band released several EPs before coalescing into their long-standing lineup of vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tré Cool. The trio shared the independent album Kerplunk in 1991 before releasing their major label debut Dookie in 1994. Behind singles like “Longview,” “Basket Case” and “When I Come Around,” which each topped the Alternative Airplay chart, Dookie reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Dookie earned Green Day three Grammy nominations, including a win for Best Alternative Music Performance, and the album continues to stand as the band’s best-selling release with over 20 million copies sold worldwide. Green Day followed with 1995’s Insomniac and 1997’s Nimrod, with the latter boasting the band’s biggest creative shift with the rare acoustic single, “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).” After 2000’s Warning, Green Day spent the next few years developing their first of several ambitious projects, the 2004 punk rock opera American Idiot. The album became Green Day’s first to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and it logged two Top 10 singles with “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” and “Wake Me Up When September Ends.” American Idiot garnered seven Grammy nominations and won two, including Best Rock Album. The band won the Best Rock Album Grammy again with 2009’s concept album 21st Century Breakdown. A stage adaptation of American Idiot debuted on Broadway in 2010 and won two Tony Awards and a Grammy for the cast recording. Furthermore, Green Day were first-ballot inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.

  • Outstanding performance

by SS on 2024-08-04Rogers Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

All 3 band members showed a kind of energy and commitment to a great show that needs to be celebrated as it rare. BJ was in fine form for all 37 songs and never let up. Highly recommend to see live.

  • Always A Great Time

by Tana on 2024-08-04Rogers Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen Green Day multiple times in the past and they never disappoint!!! Super engaging with the crowd and sound just like they did 20 years ago. So much fun!

  • Echo echo echo

by Colin on 2024-08-04Rogers Centre - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

Very bad sound in the 500s. Wasn’t able to understand any lyrics and all the instrumentals sounded off with all the echo. I’ve seen video from closer to the stage and the sound was much better. Probably would have been better if the dome was opened? The view wasn’t as bad as I expected for the seats.

  • Best Concert Ever

by Nick on 2024-08-04Rogers Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I don't think I'm overexaggerating when I say this may be the best concert I've ever attended! It was the 30th anniversary of Dookie and 20th anniversary of American Idiot so they played both albums in their entirety. They also played other fan favourites and some new stuff. They easily played 35, if not 40 songs in their set! It was my 6th time seeing Green Day and they blew me away more than they ever had!

  • Great performance

by TB on 2024-08-04Rogers Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Smashing Pumpkins and Green Day were beyond amazing. Sound quality was top notch. We had great seats but I very much struggled to enjoy Smashing Pumpkins because the person sitting next to me was an extremely large person and a significant portion of my seat was taken up by this person. I was forced to lean over at an awkward angle to avoid being pressed up against a stranger and as someone who has had back surgery, this was not an ideal position. People this size should be made to purchase an extra seat. Thankfully for Green Day we stood up and because we had the aisle seats, we were able to shift away from these people and got to enjoy the main act.

  • ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC

by Nickolas on 2024-08-04Rogers Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

OMG! Green Day killed it yet again. This was their best performance I have ever been to, and I have seen them 3 times now. Dookie and American Idiot performed entirely was just incredible. I’ve never seen a crowd like that. Every song, the crowd was singing cheering. The stadium was shaking almost throughout the entire show. Thank you Green Day for such an amazing night.

  • Amazing show

30 years on and Green Day are still bringing the house down. Excellent show, I would go again without hesitation.

  • A Fantastic Experience!

by Ash on 2024-08-04Rating: 5 out of 5

It was my first time seeing Greeny play live and I had a lot of fun! I had a great time singing and dancing along. I love the amount of energy and personality they have on stage. I hope I get the opportunity to see them play again in the future. The lineup was also great. The Linda Lindas, Rancid, and The Smashing Pumpkins were great and also brought a great energy to the event.

  • Green Day was awesome!

I couldn’t believe they played 37 songs straight with no breaks and they played their hearts out! Such and awesome show 10 outta 10!

  • Best concert I have ever been to!

    by W21 on 2024-08-04Rogers Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Great job guys! Well worth the price of admission.

  • Great line up with few issues.

by BT on 2024-08-04Rogers Centre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

Great performers, seats were partially obstructed, and venue being cavernous much of sound was distorted. Would do it again though with looking into seat location to the stage.

  • Best Green Day show ever performed I'm sure.

by Ultimo on 2024-08-04Rogers Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I don't think they can top this tour. 2 albums in entirety, throw a few hits in the mix, the best of their new songs. What more can they do?

Honestly, words can’t express just how happy and grateful I am that I experienced this moment in my life. I’ve waited 25 years to check this concert off my bucket list and I now have incredible memories forever. The band was perfection.

  • IMHO Best live band out there right now!!!!

by Echobert on 2024-08-04Rogers Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Billy and the boys killed it again. Never do these guys fail to deliver one of (if not) the best live performances ever. Can't wait till they come back again so we can hear all their other amazing hits and less known gems.
