    Meatloaf needs to retire!

by WLKU on 2016-07-11Abbotsford Centre - Abbotsford

While it was still fun to be at the concert, Meatloaf himself was horrible. He shuffled, shook, could not hold a note and at one point looked as if he was having a stroke.

    MeatLoaf overdone

    by KO06 on 2016-07-08Abbotsford Centre - Abbotsford

Saw him a few years ago and just loved him. Enjoyed his concert so much that I was glad of the opportunity to see him again. However, I wished I hadn't as this extremely short concert has overshadowed my memories of the first one. Sound not great. First couple of songs, couldn't even hear him. Not the same person I saw before. It's time to hang up the guitar. It turned out to be a very expensive disappointment.

meatloaf the band was ok. The lead singer tended to both sing out of tune and change the song midtune. He was moving like in a lot of pain. His voice cracked and was weak in volume

    Meatloaf at Abbotsford Centre, Abbotsford

by teddybear on 2016-07-05Abbotsford Centre - Abbotsford

I am not too sure if it was the equipment from Meatloaf or the venue itself, but the sound was terrible! Even when they were talking I could not understand them at all! Meatloaf himself was a little washed up and off key, etc. Maybe still unhealthy and going downhill? I was disappointed that the beginning of the song "Dashboard Light" as it was a recording of the singers talking, as the song goes. I am not sure if that is normally the case, I do not remember that in the past. Sadly, overall I felt like I was at a high school production. Having said that, I would not recommend either Meatloaf nor Abbotsford Centre!

    Worst Concert Ever!

by Anonymous on 2016-07-03Abbotsford Centre - Abbotsford

We were very disappointed with this concert. We were ready to walk out after his first song! The acoustics in the venue were such that we could not understand anything that was being said or sung! Meatloaf's band was excellent, but it's time for him to retire! He looked and sounded like he was in really rough shape!! Possibly something to do with his collapse at his Edmonton concert 2 weeks ago....

    Great show

    by jdf16 on 2016-07-02Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

A lot has been said about Meatloaf's diminished vocal abilities, and they are true. However, this was still one of the best concerts I've been to. Yes, I'd have rather seen him when he was at his peak, but he still puts on a great show. Concert started exactly on time. The band was terrific. No warmup band and no intermission. He performed for 75 minutes, then came back for a 30 minute encore. I've read that after his recent collapse, he is only allowed to perform for an hour and 45 minutes, and he did exactly that. Go, and just enjoy the show. Don't complain about how he's not as good as he used to be - he's 68 dammit! Appreciate him for the music he has created.

Meatloaf never disappoints. His passion for his music is far better than anyone else. He is a true performer.

    "To much Loaf...not enough Meat""

    by BigEasy61 on 2016-07-01Abbotsford Centre - Abbotsford

Wife's bucket list...must see Meatloaf.....so...despite all the up and down reviews....we decided to make it a night out with Meatloaf at the Abbotsford Centre on Tuesday night and listen for ourselves. Well...it was pretty evident from the start that Meatloaf had some serious miles on those vocal chords and at times very difficult to understand what he was singing throughout his set list, but there were moments of brilliance especially during "Paradise by the Dashboard Lights" where he dug down and found flashes of years gone by accompanied by Cian Coeys powerful vocals to carry him through the song, not only on this particular track...but pretty much the entire performance followed by the remaining band members who were tight on the money. In a nut shell....we saw Meatloaf. Was it what we expected...pretty much...but not the type of expectation had we had seen him 20 years ago. With all due respect....like every rock legend in their time, Marvin Lee Aday had his career defining moments...unfortunately time has come and gone.

    Meatloaf Abbotsford was awful

by Floydwhammy on 2016-07-01Abbotsford Centre - Abbotsford

He can't sing live anymore. mostly used lower register and talking-like vocals most of the night. Very disappointing for a huge Meatloaf fan. Said he was 68 yrs old so probably has something to do with it like Robert Plant and some other older greats who don't try for or can't do the high notes anymore. It was obvious that Meatloaf wasn't even trying or just wasn't able to do his trademark vocal range. Was so looking forward to this as I had not seen him live and have all his records but was ready to leave after the 3d song in. The sound company was not good, you couldn't hear his vocals in the mix for most of the night and when the guitar solos came you couldn't really hear any difference. There was no real light show or explosions, fire etc that we have become accustomed to at rock shows. Just a backdrop with a picture of the 3 bat out of hell album covers. that was it. drummer played a small single kick drum kit.. The female vocalist he had on stage was awesome when you could hear her. you can tell she has great vocals. Unfortunately not able to find her name anywhere but she was excellent.. Just buy the new album and stay home remembering how good meatloaf was and not have to see him at this stage.

Meatloaf was a great old time

by Netreg on 2016-07-01Abbotsford Centre - Abbotsford

Well, when the guy on stage is 68, you've got to come in with lowered expectations. That said, he really warmed up as the night went on, and if he can't hit the notes he used to, his heart is still all there. He did his best, the band was great and the girl singing with him was fantastic. Really enjoyed ourselves - worth every penny.
