Great Show, we're all getting on but that was 100% Meatloaf , and the band was spot on and excellent
First let me say that I don't often write reviews but I do read them and value what others have to say. Naturally they are going to be mixed and I will make decisions based on the feedback. For this event, I felt it necessary to write this one. I only gave it a ONE star because it was a mandatory field. If possible, I would have given it negative stars. I have been to many concerts in my time and this one was by far the worst I have ever been too. There were times when the back up singers and Meatloaf himself were not in sync at all. It was very evident that he wasn't sure of his capabilities, as he mumbled, and stumbled through each song. I love his music and am grateful to have his CD's that I can listen too and enjoy. Perhaps he should retire and allow us to remember him by the way he was and not what it is today. Understandably, he has health issues and is 68 years old, I didn't expect him to be the same but I did expect much more than what he delivered. Don't waste your time and money.
I have been wanting to see Meat Loaf in concert for most of my life...I finally got to see him in Abbotsford! What a great show!! Thanks Meat Loaf!
Don't waste your money. He can't sing anymore. No interaction with the audience. The first time I've ever though of asking for my money back at a concert.
The performance lacked consistent delivery. His voice is showing wear and tear but I fully recognize the sacrifices of health that he has had made to give us such incredible music over the last 4 decades. He is a man determined to die doing what he loves and I thank him for that. His back up singer was incredible and his band was wonderful excellent guitar solos. The greatest performance of the evening was paradise by the dashboard lights absolutely splendid. If go looking for perfection you won't find it but you will find a man who loves his art with a passion that burns in his determination to give what he has left for his fans.
I thought that it was an awesome concert! I will admit that Meatloaf seemed to be struggling a little and was having issues with his sound but all in all it was a fun time. They played some of my favourites including Paradise by the Dashboard Light, Out of the Frying Pan, Bat out of Hell, and Two out of Three Ain't Bad among others. He also played some I had never heard before. The most disappointing part was that they didn't play I'd Do Anything for Love. He is accompanied by a very talented band including a great sax player, amazing guitarists, and a pianist who really stood out. His female back-up vocalist is fabulous and really added to the music. Meatloaf said it himself. he is 68 years old. He definitely doesn't have the energy or vocals he had 20-30 years ago so don't go expecting that. I just feel lucky to have been able to sit front row and see him live in concert. I grew up listening to his music and I had an amazing time seeing him perform.
Great concert! Dramatic and well done! Liked the way Meat Loaf entertained from various parts of the stage to highlight other members of the band. His co-singer lady was really fantastic too. Sometimes his voice was a little shaky though. Piano player great! Lots of guitar.
If I reach the age of 68 years, (56) and have the ability to perform at such a high level as Michael Lee did on Tuesday night, it would be a total gift from god! the show brought back memories of 1979 , my graduation year from high school, rockin to "paradise by the dash board light" fantastic!, very humble man! awsome show!
I was in the floor section with a great view of the stage. Meat Loaf gave his all and the show was worth every penny I spent for the ticket. Was the concert flawless? No. I thought I heard one lyric error and at times he seemed to be struggling a bit. So what? He's no spring chicken and acknowledged it openly and humourously during the dialogue section of "Paradise by the Dashboard Light". It was still a fantastic show and I enjoyed it thoroughly. His bandmates are awesome. I loved the addition of the saxophone player to the lineup. I wish I'd gotten the name of the lady singing with him as I'd like to hear more of her work. I'd love to see this show again. Until I get that time machine up and running, however, I will simply have to enjoy the albums I have and wait with bated breath for the release of his next one.
It was the worst concert I have ever been too. From the very start to finish it was obvious Meatloaf should not be performing and should consider retiring. It is $300 and 90 minutes of my life I can't get back. His voice was weak, he forgot lyrics and some of his big hits were hardly recognizable. His make out scene with his backup singer during Paradise By The Dashboard Lights was disgusting. It was like watching a grandfather with his granddaughter. It appears he should have cancelled his Edmonton concert and perhaps the rest of his tour as clearly he is not performing at the level he should be.
Meatloaf Edmonton Concert June 16 2016 Meatloaf was not well he looked sick. His Voice was gruff. The Band Music was louder than his Voice drowning him out. Then during the Encore Meatloaf collapsed on Stage to everyone shock. To everyone shock everyone thought Meatloaf had a Heart Attack and had Died. It was announced the next day Meatloaf was Dehydrated and passed out.
He was still sick so he should've cancelled. Could hardly hear him as the backup band was sooo loud (but this being said-the band was awesome). When you did hear Meatloaf he was mostly speaking the words not singing. Was a very expensive Karaoke night. Tickets, 12 hours travel, gas, hotel room....wish he would've cancelled.
The worst concert I have ever attended. I was insulted that a artist would perform when he can no longer provide quality entertainment.
I don't know where to start. The sound mixing was terrible, we sat within 14 rows of the stage but could barely understand the words, everything was so muffled together. Meat Loaf seemed like he could barely walk, constantly ran out of breath and shook very noticeably anytime he held the mic. This was the show where he collapsed during the encore, and it was no surprise to us judging by how much he seemed to physically struggle with everything. Kudos to him for trying to perform, but why he continues to put himself through this physical struggle... I don't know. To top it off, during Paradise by the Dashboard Light he makes out with his backup singer, who is easily less than half his age, I found this extremely offensive, tasteless and unnecessary.
he couldnt sing very well then he passed out halfway through the encore
The concert was terrible. Some songs were ok but others were horrible. He sounded terrible overall. Unfortunately, towards the end of the night he collapsed however the music and lyrics kept going. So no wonder some songs sounded good he was lip syncing. I think he is not well enough to keep touring. Diappointed I paid 250 for two tickets to go.
Totally enjoyed this concert, was just too bad that he collapsed and had to be taken to hospital, sure do hope he recovers quickly!
Disappointing - the band was outplayed the singer. There were definitely hard core fans at the concert, but I think with all due respect Meatloaf should retire. My husband and I were ready to leave after the first act, but stayed because we paid $$$. It was traumatising to watch him pass out on stage and not know if he was alive or dead. He needs to get his health in order above anything.
We all know Meat Loaf was amazing in their day but that day has long passed. His voice is shot, and it was a huge disappointment. The band was great and the female lead singer was great, but we left the concert early as it was so terrible overall.
Concert started out not too bad then everything went wrong ! We actually thought he had died on stage ! Can't really give a review . He needs to take care of his own self regarding his health . We hope he recovers fully !
