I (an adult male) went to see the show on the basis of enjoying the TV series, and wanting to see the mythbusters live, hear some interesting stories, see some interesting experiments, etc. It was called the "behind the myths tour", after all.
The audience around me was 90% children and parents thereof. I am advised that at other shows the ratio wasn't that high, and perhaps in other sections of the theatre it was lower as well; but the reason I say this is because to me, that was the target audience. I found that the show was really geared towards kids, and just didn't have the pizzaz to entertain me.
They did a great job with the video clip packages they showed during the cuts between bits, and the set was great. Production value was pretty good overall. It was really just the material, for me. I won't spoil the show or anything, but it basically consisted of a series of maybe a dozen separate "bits" with no real tie-through. Two of the bits were Q&A with each of the guys. Most of the audience members polled were kids, and either made statements, not questions, or asked questions that were fairly routine (what's your favourite episode, do you remember when..., etc.) and no deep insight was granted. The segments that were about experimenting was sometimes real and sometimes gags, but most had a punchline which was, in my opinion, more entertaining to children than adults. They opened the show suggesting that they would try to teach about myths and science, but very few of the bits really spoke to a scientific point. The ones with gag punchlines mostly didn't, but even the legitimate bits (there was a competition involving two bikes where there was very little scientific purpose to it and just played for a cheep laugh).
The only thing I will "spoil" (skip this paragraph if you don't want to know ANYTHING about the show, but I won't spoil the mechanics) is that one segment was a bed-of-nails segment. Depsite that segment being one of the more scientific/mythbusty segments in the show, and maybe it's just me, but I think that's one of those old standbys that I've seen explained three or four times before, and again, that's one reason I felt this played more towards children who might be awed by the bed of nails, than most adults who know the principles behind it...
It was entertaining at times, but at the end of the show I felt a bit underwhelmed and that I hadn't really learned much of anything about the guys or the show or science. The climax was also underwhelming, as I've noted several reviewers pointing out. I would consider attending if they ever did another tour, but I'd want to know that they'd made changes to make the show more informative and less fluffy.
