About

Rihanna is nothing if not prolific. Since her 2005 debut, the 25-year-old singer has released seven albums and racked up twelve No. 1 singles, setting a record in the process as the solo artist with the fastest accumulation of ten chart-topping singles – a feat she accomplished in just under five years. A quick scroll through the radio dial will confirm that Rihanna is the most ubiquitous figure in Top 40 airplay, and considering her rapid-fire release schedule, it’s hardly a surprise that she recently edged out her idol Whitney Houston to become the artist with the ninth most Top 10 singles ever (24 in total). After hugely successful collaborations with Eminem in 2010 (“Love the Way You Lie”) and Drake in 2012 (Take Care), Rihanna scored her first U.S. No. 1 album with 2012’s Unapologetic, which includes the hugely successful “Diamonds” and “Stay.” Rihanna is shining bright in concert on the 2013 Diamonds World Tour -- opening acts 2 Chainz and A$AP Rocky are worth the ticket price alone.

Born in Barbados in 1988, Rihanna grew up listening to reggae and began singing at age seven. As a teen, her Caribbean-influenced demos attracted the attention of label execs, and in 2005 she auditioned for Jay-Z, signing a six-album record deal with Def Jam Recordings the same day. Her first two albums, Mother of the Sun (2005) and A Girl Like Me (2006), spawned hit singles “Pon De Replay” and chart-topper “S.O.S.,” but it wasn’t until “Umbrella,” from third album Good Girl Gone Bad (2007), that she cemented her place as a serious contender to the pop throne. Originally written for Britney Spears, “Umbrella” peaked at No. 1 and earned Rihanna her first Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. A string of platinum-selling albums would follow, including Loud (2010) and Talk That Talk (2011), both of which featured an increasingly dance-oriented sound, including chart-topping club anthems “Only Girl (In the World)” and “We Found Love.” After terminating her tumultuous on-again, off-again relationship with rapper Chris Brown, Rihanna released Unapologetic in 2013 to positive reviews – and a No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200.

Eminem & Rihanna - Best Experience of My Life

by Anonymous on 2014-08-19MetLife Stadium - East Rutherford

This concert was unreal. Eminem took total control of that stadium and owned it. Rihanna was great too, but nothing compared to Eminem. Would go again & again & again,. Worth the money and more

I bought tickets to see Rihanna in concert because I love her music, that is why I said i would recommend the concert to a friend. She sang new songs and her older songs, as well. Decent entertainer. However, I was extremely disappointed because she was supposed to arrive on stage at 9pm, and she did not come out until after 10:45pm. It was definitely not the best concert I have attended and I would probably not go see her in concert again

    So fun except for A$AP

by Fiore on 2013-07-08Rodgers Arena - Vancouver

Honestly, I love Rihanna and she didn't fail to show me why. Yeah, she was about an hour and a half late but when she did come on stage she rocked it. She was sexy, full of energy, and danced her heart out. She really filled the stadium with energy. The only thing was the opening act. For one, you couldn't understand anything A$AP was saying. Secondly, all his songs are so inappropriate so I felt really bad seeing all the moms with kids under 12 having to leave the stadium because of him. He talked about gangs, cussed the whole time, and disrespected women horribly! And he was on the stage for a good 45 minutes. I was so disappointed, such an amazing performer like Rihanna with that crappy opening act. Anyways, I would come back to see her, she killed it.

    Horrible

by VoreReznor on 2013-05-29Pengrowth Saddledome - Calgary

This show was one of the worst shows I have ever seen live. From the opening act, through the 2 hour wait for Rihanna, and the fact she only sang the backup vocals and let the main vocals come from a recording. It was listed as all ages but the content in the opening act was not suitable for kids.

    Rihanna concert

    by Concertgoer24fhfndnd on 2013-05-06Saddledome - Calgary

This was the worst concert I've ever been too. She was 2 hours late and lip synced the entire concert. I had a better experience listening to her in my room getting ready than at the actual concert. No longer a fan.

Rihanna - Lip Synching is not a concert!

by Vivid on 2013-04-15Mandalay Bay Events Center - Las Vegas

It was more of a Rihanna costume change, poser, lip synching let down then a concert. I travelled a long ways and spent a great deal of money on VIP tickets only to "hear" her lip synching.

    Rihanna and ASAP Rocky

by justiceCD on 2013-04-13Rogers Arena - Vancouver

I am a mature adult who decided to take her 10 and 12 year nieces to their first ever concert. Although Rihanna was late, she put on a long show and played all of her hit songs. She talked to the crowd, interacted with us and made it fun. Now for the opening act- ASAP Rocky This was the worst performer I have ever seen in my 35 years!! I sat in amazement along with all the other people around me as this young punk swore, cussed, disrespected women and glamorized gang life, drinking, along using and importing drugs! After about 3 songs my 10 year leaned over and said "aunty he just keep saying the same words over and over in different songs". I stifled my response and agreed with her without making a rude comment about him. I am highly disappointed that Rihanna who is a Top 40 artist highlight such filth as an opener for the North American leg of this tour. Had this been told to me upon purchase I wouldn't have gone and seen her-kids or no kids. He played for 45 mins too long.

    Good artist, very poor show

by RanyDany on 2013-04-06Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Let´s start by saying (no surprise) that Rihanna came out almost 1 hour later than expected. Fortunately, we had read previous reviews and we knew it was going to happen and we arrived fashionably late too. It should be the case, though. The good: Rihanna sang most of her known songs. Her set did not disappoint. The bad: The show is really low key. For such a global artist, just backup dancers and a few pyrotechnics just don't cut it. Besides, the level of energy was pretty low, Just a couple of songs made me and my party stand up and dance. The ugly: Terrible sound, probably the worst I have experienced at Rogers. Rihanna´s words were almost lost in 90% of the songs and the bass was so marked than almost all instrumets in the band sounded like drumms. Overall, I am glad I bought the cheapest tickets because I do not feel I lost my money, but It could have been better spend somewhere else.

    Rihanna was beyond very Late

by Pharrohs on 2013-04-06Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

I am a huge RiRi fan and was very disappointed in her for being so late. She didn't appear on stage til 10:30. I think it is very disrespectful of all her fans. There were little girls sleeping in the crowd. So sad for though little ones. The concert was good, I know all her songs and I think I sang more of the lyrics then she did. There was a lot that she just gave up singing.

    Terrible show

by awesomemamabear on 2013-04-05Rexall Place - Edmonton

Started late, both the opening act and Rihanna herself. Then the sound was so bad you could hardly tell which song she was singing and every 30 minutes she had to go change. Very disappointed in the waste of money. Will never go see her again. BIG THUMBS DOWN TO RIHANNA.

    Rihanna held at customs

    by NH2012 on 2013-04-05MTS Centre - Winnipeg

I should've gotten my tickets earlier as my concert friend refuses to see her with her personal relationship getting back together. Anyway this is her third time here and my first time to finally seeing her. Heard it on the radio that Rihanna's stage trucks we're held up at the border due to a prick on her tour for weed. Rihanna's was in Winnipeg, hours ago. So a delay in time and it was chaotic at the arena. Concert goers were told to go later than an hour, but it took over 1hr for people to get in from 3 different entrances. 9:30pm start time instead of the initial 7:30pm for the opener ASAP rocky,he played for just under a 30 min set. I don't know his music but heard of him. Another break, still setting up the stage and got very warm from pyro set up... Concert finally started just before 11:00pm Rihanna played her newest album sang 2 songs and address the crowd of the delay. The concert was almost cancelled and Rihanna twitter bomb for free Rihanna and other #tag. The fast songs from her previous albums were speeded up and shorten 'cause of the time well past midnight and a brief haitus for a encore 2 song performance. The crowd goes nuts everytime she mentioned the city of Winnipeg. Finished at 12:34am. No one left the arena no matter what the time was and tons of kids there,on a monday and a school night.but be warned there is an adult nature in her concert.
