About

Rihanna is nothing if not prolific. Since her 2005 debut, the 25-year-old singer has released seven albums and racked up twelve No. 1 singles, setting a record in the process as the solo artist with the fastest accumulation of ten chart-topping singles – a feat she accomplished in just under five years. A quick scroll through the radio dial will confirm that Rihanna is the most ubiquitous figure in Top 40 airplay, and considering her rapid-fire release schedule, it’s hardly a surprise that she recently edged out her idol Whitney Houston to become the artist with the ninth most Top 10 singles ever (24 in total). After hugely successful collaborations with Eminem in 2010 (“Love the Way You Lie”) and Drake in 2012 (Take Care), Rihanna scored her first U.S. No. 1 album with 2012’s Unapologetic, which includes the hugely successful “Diamonds” and “Stay.” Rihanna is shining bright in concert on the 2013 Diamonds World Tour -- opening acts 2 Chainz and A$AP Rocky are worth the ticket price alone.

Born in Barbados in 1988, Rihanna grew up listening to reggae and began singing at age seven. As a teen, her Caribbean-influenced demos attracted the attention of label execs, and in 2005 she auditioned for Jay-Z, signing a six-album record deal with Def Jam Recordings the same day. Her first two albums, Mother of the Sun (2005) and A Girl Like Me (2006), spawned hit singles “Pon De Replay” and chart-topper “S.O.S.,” but it wasn’t until “Umbrella,” from third album Good Girl Gone Bad (2007), that she cemented her place as a serious contender to the pop throne. Originally written for Britney Spears, “Umbrella” peaked at No. 1 and earned Rihanna her first Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. A string of platinum-selling albums would follow, including Loud (2010) and Talk That Talk (2011), both of which featured an increasingly dance-oriented sound, including chart-topping club anthems “Only Girl (In the World)” and “We Found Love.” After terminating her tumultuous on-again, off-again relationship with rapper Chris Brown, Rihanna released Unapologetic in 2013 to positive reviews – and a No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200.

Meh-- she was ahright opener was not

Rihanna- major sound issues at times very difficult to determine what song she was singing. Too many costume changes it really cut into the amount of songs she performed. Short concert with no encore... let down. She did not sing complete songs. Her dancers were AMAZING and the best part of the show.

    Not cool!

by Soroosh on 2016-04-21MTS Centre - Winnipeg

The concert started with more than one hour of screaming and swearing of some terrible entertainer named Scott. After that, for one hour nothing specific was going on, no one singing, no sign of a show, people wandering around, finally Rihanna showed up and sang some songs, her overall performance was less that 1.5 hours and just a few of the songs were familiar and interesting for the crowd, for the most part people were struggling to find some bits to dance with!

    Riri slayed it!!!!

    by Romana13 on 2016-04-21MTS Centre - Winnipeg

She exceeded my expectations. My boyfriend filled in because a friend was sick and he couldn't stop raving about how much he enjoyed himself. She has now gained another fan! Rihanna is a great performer. She had the audience on their feet the whole concert!!!! If you have tickets, GO! You won't regret it!

Travis Scott WAS SO GOOD. He really hyped us up and gave a great show!!! I love him! And of course, Rihanna DID NOT DISSAPOINT. She was amazing!!! It was such a great concert experience and it was really worth my money. 11/10, would definitely attend again.

    Meh

She was mediocre at best. She was at Coachella the day before and I think she was hungover or tired from that. At least the set and lights were cool.

    Rihanna

    by Musiclover69 on 2016-04-21MTS Centre - Winnipeg

She is great as a pop star, but performing is not really that important to her. I connected with her for one song - we found love in a hopeless place - I thought it was going to be closer to 7 of the songs I really like on utube. It was worth maybe the $30 but not a cent more - her heart was not in it? I looked up the reviews on ticketmaster and about a thousand of her fans (out of 4000) gave her performances 1, 2 or 3 stars out of five. Reviews from New York Times, The Guardian, and music websites also had mixed emotions. So I think if you paid $200 for tickets you left wanting more. More lazer light show, more hits, less lip syncing, no clear plastic blow up domes on stage, and an encore to show the audience that she wants to be there and likes to perform.

by rihannawinnipeger on 2016-04-21MTS Centre - Winnipeg

The only thing better than Rihanna in concert is a longer concert of Rihanna! I did not want her show to end!! It was amazing; she is an amazing talent. She is unforgettable, and I highly recommend seeing Rihanna live to all her fans.

    Rihanna: Anti World Tour 2016

by whylie on 2016-04-18Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Very disappointed. The sound was horrible. The music was louder than Rihanna and it seemed that she was doing a lot of lip syncing. The opener which was a DJ was OK but not what we were expecting! The show started really late too and we just weren't impressed. We stayed for an hour and a bit but left before concert was over. Wouldn't go to another Rihanna Concert in the future.

    Good but not great

by Macdeazy on 2016-04-18Air Canada Centre - Toronto

The opener was def not up to where it should have been. Rihanna is an amazing singer and the show was good but not amazing. Such a big stage that it seemed like they could have done more with all that room.

The music was so loud it hurt .. the swearing by the DJ and Travis Scott was disappointing. When Rihanna finally came on, you could barely hear her over the loud music. I've been to a few concerts at ACC lately, all with this same problem .. might be time to stop going....

    Not good

by Antitour on 2016-04-16Air Canada Centre - Toronto

She performed just over an hour - had 4 costume changes and for the majority of time sang melodies of her hits - not to mention ending the concert with two new tracks from her latest album (no encore) . For a woman who has been so successful and many number 1 hits - I think it's fair to say that her fans could of had more time of her on stage.
