    Excellent!

by 7Hole on 2017-08-28Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

I was a fan of SAGA back in the 80's but had never seen them live. I am so glad I went to the Farewell tour. The band was on top of their game and I loved hearing the oldies.

    SAGA IN CALGARY

by CLIMBHIGHMAN on 2017-08-16Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

I have been a long time fan of Saga and when given the opportunity to see them live in Calgary I couldn't wait. I last saw them in Toronto probably 30+ years ago. They played at Grey Eagle and attendance was less than I expected. However, the band came out, recognized the intimate nature of the evening and played a great show. The band playfully bantered with the crowd and the crowd responded in kind. The crowd was VERY supportive and appreciated the music. The musicianship was first rate. At the end the band said they would greet the crowd and sign whatever they wanted. I thought that was very generous for them to do.

Every hit was played. Great crowd involvement. Sound was exceptional. Fantastic musicianship and vocals for anyone, even if you've never seen Saga before.

Prism rocked the Regent Event Centre

by Ensposito on 2016-07-11Club Regent Event Centre - Winnipeg

Great set by a great band. Al sings and plays so well, the only issue I had was that the concert list was too short. I was hoping and expecting at least two hours, but we didn't get it.

    Saga and Prism 20/20!

by AeMan on 2016-07-11Club Regent Event Centre - Winnipeg

Prism started off the evening and literally every song they played brought me back to my youth. A little bit older, different vocalist (original passed in a biking accident) and still rockin'. High energy and crazy fun. Once we took a twenty minutes break and cooled down a bit it was Saga's turn. I didn't know what to expect so I made my way down to the front of the stage. Wow! If this band originated anywhere else but Canada it would be heralded as one of the best prog-rock bands of all time. I knew their music but I have to tell you the recorded music does not even come close to the incredible live performance. I immediately knew why Prism opened for them. Michael Sadler was Hypnotic! Ian Crichton, the lead guitarist was incredible. The bassist/moog synthesizer player and drummer were also amazing. And I can't leave out the other Crichton in the band. Keyboardist and principle song writer with Sadler for close to 40 years, Jim Crichton was perfect taking lead vocals on Scratching the Surface. They were so captivating it didn't matter in what order they played their songs. Most bands would have finished an encore with On the Loose but they threw that one in third. No wonder they are now put in the same category as Yes, Genesis and Asia. You have to see them to really appreciate the incredible talent of these musicians and a huge applause goes to Club Regent Event Centre and the sound mixer. A perfect concert all the way around.

    Loud

by Travelsalot on 2016-07-11Club Regent Event Centre - Winnipeg

The opening band Prism, was awsome, very energetic, great vocals, fantastic drum solo. Would definitely see them again. Unfortunately Saga produced a sound level over 100 decibels, painfully loud. So loud that the singers voice was drowned out by the instruments ! It was obvious that the band had some very talented musicians and enjoyed putting on the show, but would not recommend seeing them in a small venue again !

    Great show

    by Dane1950 on 2015-02-18Deerfoot Inn & Casino - Calgary

One the best bands I've seen in a long time. The music was performed in a great polished manner. All the musicians did a wonderful performance. Too bad they could not have had a larger venue with a better stage and lighting.
