A Circus act or a rock band?

by MarcoMurinio on 2014-09-21Hard Rock Casino - Coquitlam, BC

Kudos to Mark for going out there and delivering the goods. His voice is obviously not in great shape but hey, it's been +20 years since their debut album. I know most of their songs and still it took me a while to recognize them as Mark sounds so different from the albums. The band was OK but what completely put me was the "drummer". I always look forward to see and hear the drummer's performance but this guy was just a circus act. Literally. Wish they had kept Blas Elias, though not a great drummer at least he would put a rock show and not a kid's play. I don't understand how Mark could have such a drummer in the band, and it makes me think, If he does not take his band seriously, why should I. Disappointing performance from start to finish, still, kudos to Mark for everything he has accomplished and for the amazing work he does for sick kids.

    Too Loud Blew Ear Drums

    by Hunter77 on 2014-04-06Rockpile East - 2787a Eglinton East Toronto, ON M1J 2E1

We drove 2 hrs to see Slaughter, opening bands were awesome!! HOWEVER, when Slaughter arrived on stage (waited 4 hrs to hear Slaughter) The music was Waaaayyy too loud. My ears were ringing. We went outside on smoking patio to get away from music on the 1st song. Not to my surprise the smoking patio was packed (How odd for a smoking patio to be packed on 1st song of opening band). Many paying people complained about how loud the music was, One women said her EARS BLEW and they wouldn't stop ringing (she drove almost 7 hrs to see Slaughter, and said never again). I spoke to bouncer he said to speak to Slaughters sound teck (so I wrote him a note about it being to loud, his advice was to buy ear plugs) I spoke to bouncer again (he went and got me the manager of Rockpile East (manager said he was sorry but nothing he can do because Slaughter uses their own sound guy) I said its bad when people are leaving during firs few song of opening band. PERSONALLY I feel it is a health issue for music to be that loud that your ears blow. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO SEE SLAUGHTER, MAYBE NEVER BACK TO ROCKPILE EITHER SINCE MANAGER DIDN'T HAVE THE GUTS TO TELL SLAUGHTER THAT ITS A HEALTH ISSUE THEY NEED TO TURN MUSIC DOWN. MANAGER WAS WORRIED BAND WOULD WALK OFF STAGE (THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN OK) IF I HAD TO GUESS, I WOULD SAY MUSIC WAS WAAAY OVER ALLOWED SOUND DECIBELS

    Slaughter Was AWESOME!!!

    by young1 on 2011-10-04Deerfoot Inn & Casino - Calgary

Awesome job for the night, the new unrecorded song was great and they put on a hell of a show. Mark did an excellent job singing, Dana was absolutly full of energy and having a blast playing bass. Jeff did an awesome job on guitar, and zoltan was his usually unbelievable self going crazy on his drums. Great job guys! :)

Slaughter needs to go back for singing lessons

by KendraDerb on 2011-10-04Deerfoot Inn & Casino - Calgary

I was so excited to see these guys, and wow, was I ever disappointed! There were 13 of us from Edmonton, Spruce Grove, Sherwood Park and Calgary that went, and everyone was disappointed in the quality of the singing and performance from these guys. They sounded nothing like their music on CD. Mark Slaughter better go back to the basics and start to learn how to SING the songs instead of yelling them out and squeeling in a high pitched scream to songs that don't even have the scream! I would caution all Slaughter fans to keep low expectations if they are going to see this show.

    Great Band

by yankicanuk on 2011-10-03Deerfoot Inn & Casino - Calgary

I've been a fan of Slaughter since the first "album". I grew up in Nevada & was able to see them play alot. Since living in Alberta, i've been @ every show possible. This was the third time i've seen Slaughter play the Deerfoot Casino & as a band they were again fantastic. Mark's voice is still in great form & the rest of the band are very talented musicians as well. BUT for some reason, the Deerfoot decided to make the enter room seating only. In the past there were chairs but a space on the floor in front of the stage was open for standing. Not the case this time even though the tickets are clearly marked GENERAL ADDMISSION!!! I was NOT happy about this to say the least because I purchased my tickets months ago not knowing this would be the case. I love the band & enjoyed the show but this was a rock show, NOT a symphony. I go to most of the rock shows @ the Deerfoot & stay & eat at the hotel BUT i may have to rethink it next time if this is going to continue to be their policy. For the money you pay it's just not as fun to be sitting & not being able to see.

    DIE HARD SLAUGHTER FAN!!!

by everlaan on 2010-05-24Deerfoot Inn & Casino - Calgary

Yes...there are still a few of us left....die hard Slaughter fans....the wannabes left the show early - so, thanks for that - the "real fans" stuck around. After playing a gig in Edmonton the night before, Mark's voice was a little strained....however, as always, a great live show guys!!! There were mullets sitting with skullets, big nasty blond teased hair, and don't forget the overly tight jeans! The guys played all the classics and did not disappoint!!

    Slaughter hasn't lost its touch

by freeflying on 2010-05-23Deerfoot Inn & Casino - Calgary

Slaughter hasn't lost it touch with the partying....awesome concert! Smaller venue didn't stop the crowd from getting up front and personal with the band. The trademark "Eye to Eye" song, Mark ventured into the crowd where everyone was singing along with him. Slaughter did not 1 but 2 encores which seemed to surprise them abit as the fans didn't want them to go! They could have just jammed all night and the fans would have partied all night . These guys need more air play especially on satelite radio....they haven't lost their touch! Thanks for the amazingly awesome concert!
