Dazzling
by mjfargo on 2019-11-25This is the second year I've seen "live," and the talent from the season was on display, minus Gino who was out due to injury. People were assigned to fill in and, in general, that worked. There was more of a script than the previous year's show, which didn't add much: a beach party, a restaurant, "contemporary," etc. What does work is the flow of dancers integrating and ready to repeat routines from the show, back-to-back. Some new costumes were welcome but not always an improvement. There is no let down in scene changes or dead air. Alas, the marvelous set piece for the roof top "slide" by Mariah & Bailey didn't make the show, but the moving "Sign of the Times" choregraphed by Travis Wall was a stand out. All the dancers have improved and show a new maturity which was thrilling. A great evening where the energy never stopped. (The music/audience IS loud.)
