Ottawa Senators History

The original Ottawa Senators were founded in 1883 and were one of the founding teams of the NHL during its early years, winning 11 Stanley Cup Championships between 1903 and 1927. When the NHL started to expand to the U.S., the Senators were sold to St. Louis and became the Eagles, but the team shuttered after one year. The second incarnation of the Senators joined the NHL in 1992. The Senators have since gone on to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs 16 times.

    The team is on track!

by Kochco on 2023-10-03Canadian Tire Centre - Ottawa

The team looks really good. The "kids"have loads of energy and superb skills. The venue is still sub-standard, but the entertainment value of the games makes up for it. Go Sens!

    Very poorly organized

by TopSpin5577 on 2023-10-03Canadian Tire Centre - Ottawa

My son wanted to have autographs of the players; however, when we arrived we were told that getting autographs was no longer possible. The line-ups for the number of stations were insane. One had to stay in line for two hours to get to the face-paining station, for example. As a result, we didn’t participate in anything. It was a poorly organized and disappointing day. Won’t do it again.

    Disappointing is putting it mildly

by CornwallSensFan on 2023-10-03Canadian Tire Centre - Ottawa

Worst Fan Fest event EVER! For starters, disabled parking lot was converted to part of the venue using up over 80% of disabled parking for a giant slide and kids area rather than leaving it open for those of us with disabled parking passes. Could have set that stuff up over in Lot 6 or Lot 2 in front of the main gate entrance. Instead, no employee in the parking booth meant disabled parking pass holders were caught in a ridiculous free for all over in the passholders lot which is in Lot 3. Secondly, a major reason I bought season tickets this year was last years disappointment at Fan Fest in which I got stuck with Zaitsev and Thomson as my autographs because the premium players were kept over in a separate area for season ticket holders. So I buy season tickets hoping for a shot at two of our better players and arrive to find out they only gave out 1000 bracelets to ALL fans in attendance and well over 200 of them didn't get an autograph at all because "they ran over their time limit". Unreal. Stood in line for hours for NOTHING! Only 'perk' I saw as a season ticket holder was a ballot into a raffle for a lousy waffle breakfast served by a few Sens players of which very few got selected. I wasn't one of them. All in all, brutal event. I drove 90 minutes from Cornwall for a massive disappointment. Probably won't ever attend a Fan Fest again. Got screwed over in 2022 as a general admission fan, and got screwed over in 2023 as a season ticket holder. Monumental waste of time.

    Meh

by Liz on 2023-10-03Canadian Tire Centre - Ottawa

The good news is: there were thousands of people in attendance. The bad news is: the organization was not prepared for the number of people who went to the event - the lines for the activities and the one concession stand that was open were very long; the popcorn was outrageously expensive; the practice roster was thin on regular players and the sound during the kids’ press conference was muffled, especially when the players were speaking. Also, I had won two tickets for breakfast with some of the players, but had to decline the offer as a third seat for my five-year-old grandson was not available. Overall, the experience was ho-hum, very disappointing given the hype around the new owner. I expected much better.

    Train employees

by Jim-Bob on 2023-09-30Canadian Tire Centre - Ottawa

Asked employees that work there and it looks like nobody knows where the toilets are. My buddy had to leave the game as he release himself in his pants. I'm not going to another game if the employees have more training

    Arena wasn’t clean

by Andrea on 2023-09-28Canadian Tire Centre - Ottawa

We sat in section 310 and the floor was so sticky we had trouble walking up the stairs. Also, they ran out of their famous egg rolls before the game even started.

    Toronto vs Ottawa

by Cory on 2023-09-28Canadian Tire Centre - Ottawa

Great time spent with my boy. Loved the sens game vs the maple leafs. Was amazed at home many people were in the wrong seats. There was 4 seat changes in that area. Nothing the staff can do… tons of resources… people just need to learn to ask if they don’t know the arena. Overall great time!!!!!

Excellent night with the Ottawa Senators

by Zianne on 2023-03-26Canadian Tire Centre - Ottawa

We were happy to attend our first Senators game in many years! We found the Canadian Tire Center entertainment team motivating and fun. It used to be so quiet there, now the energy was much better. The Senators were on fire, and were a joy to watch!!! The down side is the parking situation, or rather the exit situation at Canadian Tire Center. How did the designers not plan for better multiple exits. AND how sad that there is no way to walk to the Canadian Tire Center, from the hotel we stayed at, the Wingate by Wyndham (which is excellent by the way), there is not pedestrian friendly way to walk the 1.2 kms. It would have been much faster than waiting in our idling car for an hour.

    Leafs in Ottawa

by Passingcloud on 2023-03-21Canadian Tire Centre - Ottawa

Attended a Leafs vs Sens game at the CTC. Leafs won 5-4 in a 9 round shootout. Amazing experience - so many Leaf fans. Highly recommend if you are looking for a game outside of Toronto.

    Not comfortable at all.

by MommaBear145 on 2023-03-19Canadian Tire Centre - Ottawa

This is one of the worst arenas that I have been to. The seating is great if you are a short skinny person. They have seats so very narrow and crammed in there. If you're a tall person, your knees will be hitting the person sitting in front of you. I guess it's about money for the stadium franchise. Cram as many people in there as you can instead of thinking about comfort. If your hips are wider than 18", you will be uncomfortable and your body will be touching the person next to you in awkward ways. Hard to enjoy the game when the seating is so bad. All vendors are cashless. Exiting the parking lot took us 45 mins. So much traffic funneling into 2 lanes.
