Ottawa Senators History
The original Ottawa Senators were founded in 1883 and were one of the founding teams of the NHL during its early years, winning 11 Stanley Cup Championships between 1903 and 1927. When the NHL started to expand to the U.S., the Senators were sold to St. Louis and became the Eagles, but the team shuttered after one year. The second incarnation of the Senators joined the NHL in 1992. The Senators have since gone on to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs 16 times.

Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre
Located in Kanata, a vibrant suburb of Ottawa, Canadian Tire Centre is one of the region's premiere entertainment venues. Since opening in 1996, the arena has served as the home of the Ottawa Senators. Capable of hosting 18,000 fans for hockey games, the arena is also regularly used for concerts and other sports events. In 2007, the arena hosted games three and four of the Stanley Cup Finals. The arena is also known for being the place where Wayne Gretzky played his final NHL game in Canada.
The Ottawa Senators’ 2023–24 regular season kicks off in October at PNC Arena in Charlotte, North Carolina, when the Senators face off against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Senators will also participate in the 2023 NHL Global Series — hosted at Avicii Arena in Stockholm, Sweden — with matches against the Detroit Red Wings on November 16 and the Minnesota Wild on November 18. They play their final game of the regular season at TD Garden against Atlantic Division opponents the Boston Bruins. Here’s a list of key games to keep an eye on:
Tickets for the 2023–24 regular season can be purchased on Ticketmaster, the Official Ticket Marketplace of the Ottawa Senators.
The Senators have made one appearance in the Stanley Cup Final (in 2007), but have never won the Stanley Cup.

Our first NHL game as a family could not have been better! Great staff and volunteers. Good concessions. Terrific entertainment package.
As a vegan we were a bit disappointed in the lack of vegan options. We just bought season tickets and hope to see better vegan options for our in seat waiter options.
Everywhere I sit at the CTC is always a great time. I recommend The Ledge restaurant up in the 400 level. The salad bar was great with dessert in the 2nd period. Keep in mind you still have to pay for drinks. Next year will probably be the best yet for this young team. Go Sens Go!
Loved the game and the dj getting everyone going usher we’re very polite and helpful had great experience
Sens were on fire. Such a dominant win. So entertaining to be there in person where you could feel the crowd’s energy which fuelled the team. Overall experience was A+ including the overpriced poutine and beer! 😂
The tickets/seating were great, especially since the Senators won the game. The process getting in and out of the CTC was quick and without any issues. My grandson's first Senators game appearance was the best birthday gift he could have had, loved it.
The fellas are buzzing for this playoff push. Always a good vibe at the CTC, over the past year the CTC has been electric.
Had great seating, beautiful Arena. Ottawa played their hearts out. Can’t ask for more.
CT Centre was a great venue. Even the 40 minute walk each way didn’t deter.
The floor was not cleaned, it was soooo sticky my shoes were getting glued to it.
Great game. Arena is great and lots of food/drink areas and seats were nice. Took over an hour to get just out of the parking lot after the game
We were at the retirement of Chris Neil’s sweater on February 17th. The event was extremely well done and was a fitting event to honour Chris’ career on the ice as well as his commitment to the city. The game itself was a spirited match. Unfortunately, the senators lapse in the last ten minutes was a letdown for the fans. Overall, a great experience.
We had a great time at the Sens VS Blackhawks game! There was also a Retirement Ceremony for Chris Neil's Jersey, the Arena was packed and full of excitement with alot of special guests as well! I absolutely love the fan participation and giveaways they do at these games, it keeps the fans involved during slower parts of the game and the momentum stays high throughout! We are Blackhawks fans lol and come here to Ottawa to visit my daughter and her fiance from 6 hours away whenever the Blackhawks are playing the Sens, people are always friendly to us, we always have a great time and experience, and enjoy coming to the Canadian Tire Center to watch our favorite team play, and when our team is beat out and the Sens are still going, we cheer for the Sens, they have become our second favorite team to watch play! We feel very welcome there even though we are wearing our Blackhawks jerseys! We will continue to support and return to the Canadian Tire Center and Sens vs Blackhawks games! Thank you so much for an awesome experience and fantastic games! Tammy and Jim Huys
I’ve been to 4 games this year and the atmosphere at each game has been amazing. Staff is very friendly, bathrooms have been clean, seating is mostly comfortable (one seat seemed a little flat). Parking/directing of traffic could be better. It seems that those who are further back (even when in line up to leave first) are held back to allow closer parking lots out first. I think a system (for example 10 cars each lot rotating) would be better. I travel 2hrs for the game and sometimes have gotten stuck there after the game for more than half my travel time. I watched 16 cars from one parking lot be let through and then only 2 from my lane were let through before they switched back to the other. Overall though, great experiences each time.
Excellent game, great view from the seats, very enjoyable! Would definitely buy again!
Amazing price point for lower bowl tickets against a Canadian team. Stunning atmosphere, great crowd, lively event and friendly people.
we finally made it to our seats with 3 min left in the first period. Parking has always, and continues to be a nightmare. Over an hour to make the final 2km and park.
I took my dad, my daughter and my boyfriend. All the way from Halifax. My dad goes for Ottawa, and my boyfriend goes for Calgary, which is who they played that night, Feb 13th. It was an awesome game and Ottawa won. It was an experience they'll always remember
Amazon game 1 penalty shot 1 fight 2-2 after 2 And thé best player
No ushers to keep people from taking stairs while play was going on. Other than that, lots of concessions, line ups were served promptly,
