About

WICKED is a Tony-winning sensation that has been defying gravity and delighting Broadway audiences since 2003. With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, the fantastical prequel to The Wizard of Oz was nominated for 10 Tony Awards after it opened at the Gershwin Theatre in New York City, and won three, including Best Actress for Idina Menzel, who played the original Elphaba. The musical’s first national tour opened in 2005 and ever since, WICKED’s touring production has criss-crossed North America offering theatergoers one short day in the Emerald City filled with magic, music and the ”untold true story of the Witches of Oz.” The second national tour — known as the “Munchkinland Tour” — has been an open-ended production since 2009 and now stars Olivia Valli as Elphaba and Celia Hottenstein as Glinda.

Truly amazing! Incredible voice talent - their voices are literally music in your ears. The music is wonderful. I have been listening to the soundtrack repeatedly and I haven't got tired of it! It took a lot of concentration not to sing along, hehe! The stage set was very elaborate - switching between scenes was fast and sometimes you don't even notice that the set has changed! Love the story and how everything all ties together in the end. I won't say too much so I don't spoil anything. All I can say is that if you love broadway musicals, then you have to see Wicked!!! I will gladly see it again when they tour back here in my hometown!

I bet no one has thought of that play on words before...Anyways, I am a dude and seen this show on a date (just to clarify). I really enjoyed the show - way more then I anticipated. Music was great, the cast was brilliant and the special effects were mind blowing, for live theatre. Go see it...and take your men.

Just loved it ! It was fantastic ! Sets, costumes unbelievable ! Lights colours , all actors terrific ! I loved Lauren Harris voice , boy could she sing ! We live in Calgary , however went to Edmonton so I could also take my son and his fiancé with us. It is now in Calgary. I would go again but not pay the price , save it for another show , unless I win them . I will enter to win them and would see it again as it was that good !

Ok - especially for the younger crowd - The main character portrays a selfish teenager - full of demands, and wants - don't think it's the right signal to give to younger people

Great for all ages. Thought provoking storyline. Sound was a little disappointing, but could be because of where we were seated. All said and done.... Loved it!

    Amazing!!

by poopers on 2014-07-23Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

We enjoyed the whole musical from start to finish. It answered many questions I had as a child of why one witch was green and bad vs. the good witch. How and why the bad witches sister was killed by a house/barn. Plus many more answers to questions I had.

    Engaging!

by ivorytickler on 2014-07-23Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Having no idea of the plot when I sat down to watch this performance, I was immediately drawn in by the performance of GAlinda. She was superb! The other principle players were strong, both vocally and in their acting skills. The ensemble was entertaining, providing a feast for the eyes and ears throughout the performance. My only complaint is that the "prince" fell a little short of expectations for charisma and bravado. He just seemed flat next to the powerhouse leads. In short, I highly recommend this performance for everyone over the age of 8. (Some scenes may be a little intense for younger folk)

    Wicked was, well, WICKED!

by Boo2257 on 2014-07-23Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Extremely well done production. Voices were fabulous, energy levels on stage were astounding, players kept it fresh & alive even though I saw the second last show in our city. Sets, costumes & behind the scenes crew were all amazing. Sometimes found the orchestra a little loud to hear the singing but that may have had more to do with our seating than the actual volume of the music, we were fairly close to the pit. As with every production such as this, souvineers were pretty pricey & the snow globe we bought was broken when we got it home & out of the box. Over all, WELL worth the ticket price to see this performance.

Another fantastic broadway musical brought in by broadway across Canada! My daughters loved it. Getting seats front row and center is definitely worth the extra money. So entertaining. Very comical and outstanding singers. Would recommend it for anyone over the age 10.

Wicked is a show I have wanted to see for ten years, and it exceeded my expectations. It was such a phenomenal broadway show!! I loved everything that went into this amazing rendition of the witches of Oz!! The voices, music, costumes and sets were put together extremely well and the two main actresses absolutely nailed it!! I went home smiling from ear to ear and could not have been more pleased! Hats off to everyone that made this production come together, the entire cast spoke, sang and moved so amazing, everything was completely fluid and in sync!! Congratulations to the entire cast and team for putting on an amazing production!!! It was without a doubt, Wicked!
