About

Los Angeles Kings History

The Kings were founded in 1967 as part of the six-team influx that saw the NHL expand to 12 teams. There were some shining stars; Rogie Vachon was stellar goaltender, while Hall of Famer Marcel Dionne lit the lamp at a furious pace alongside his "Triple Crown" line mates Dave Taylor and Charlie Simmer. The Kings’ biggest postseason success during this time was with 1982's "Miracle on Manchester," where the Kings made the largest comeback in NHL playoff history to win 6-5 over the heavily favored Edmonton Oilers, who were led by a 21-year-old phenom named Wayne Gretzky.

Six years later, the Kings landed The Great One. Alongside fellow stars Jari Kurri, Luc Robitaille, Rob Blake, and Kelly Hrudey, the team flirted with success for several years, ultimately losing to the Montreal Canadiens in the Stanley Cup Final in 1993.

Shortly after the turn of the century, the Kings broke through in a big way, winning the Stanley Cup Championship in 2012 and 2014 under coach Darryl Sutter.

Tickets weren't available at Will Call until 2 hours before event even though Will Call was open several hours earlier. It would be better if the tickets were available as soon as Will Call opened so we could pick them up any time during the day. Great seats but low angle of seats in front of us made it impossible to see if anyone in the three rows in front of us stood up.

    Go Canucks, Go!

by CanucksLady23 on 2013-03-25STAPLES Center - Los Angeles

First time at the Staples Center- what an unreal experience! The venue was so fantastic and we sat eight rows up, which means we could see everything (including watching the Cajucks practice while we were pressed up against the glass!). We wish we would've seen the Lakers game the night before, that's how much we enjoyed the Staples Center!

    LA Kings Home Game

by mckab on 2013-03-14STAPLES Center - Los Angeles

Easy in and out of parking lot, lots to do around the staples center before and after the game. Only thing I found was the rink was VERY cold. I had to get out of my seat a few times to walk around to warm up, haven't been in that cold of a rink since I played minor hockey. No other pro arena has ever been that cold. Over all, good food and a nice arena.

    Detroit vs Los Angeles

by mcjean on 2013-03-01STAPLES Center - Los Angeles

I gave these tickets to me son & daughter-in-law who were on their honeymoon. They loved the game, seeing the stadium and the atmosphere. LA won so all was well.

    What a great experience!

by NorthernCanadians on 2013-02-17STAPLES Center - Los Angeles

What a fantastic experience! From the moment we walked in the door until we walked out after the game, it was great. The ushers at the Staples Centre were friendly and super helpful. We were given free promo toques, thank you LA Kings and Delta. We had premier seating, reasonably priced and good seats, with the added bonus of the opportunity to order food and drinks from our seats. The LA fans were great, so supportive of their team. We were impressed with all of the give aways and the fun shows in between periods. If we are in Los Angeles again we would definitely take in another game! Thanks for a wonderful experience!

    Amazing experience!

by Devo4969 on 2012-04-19STAPLES Center - Los Angeles

Even though the Canucks lost, I still had a great time! The experience was amazing being so up close and personal with the players, refs and off-ice officials. I was literally only four feet away from Kings players sitting in the penalty box. The look of intensity was amazing and this seat gave me a real feel for what really happens on the ice surface during a hockey game.

La vs Van round 1 game 3

by mrbean on 2012-04-18STAPLES Center - Los Angeles

i thought everything was good and amazing.. i noticed a few things tho. i felt like there should have been more security in the building i had seen some guys being rude to vancouver fans . one family had 2 children with them and they were getting hauled at and getting rude remarks . everyone has got to remember at the end of the day its just a game and no one is loosing pay for loosing. however the overall experience was amazing hope to visit once again in the near future.

Staples Centre is a hockey venue fit for a King

by SensNational on 2012-02-17STAPLES Center - Los Angeles

The seats were great! And the arena is something to behold for any hockey or sport fan. The game started off with a good laser show, which is complemented by the coolest scoreboard in an arena in the world. The concession staff are friendly, and follow protocol which leads to slow service for your first drink (as they will check to see your ID is in fact a regulation out of state/country ID). Being a fan of the visiting team I expected more heckling, but aside from a few playful jabs prior to game I experienced practically nothing. I would definitely repeat, and would recommend the venue to any fan of the NHL!

    Canucks in LA was awesome

by Jaybles on 2011-11-14STAPLES Center - Los Angeles

First time to see the Canucks play in LA and what an unforgettable experience. Staple Center is an unbelievable venue and the ambiance surrounding the building made for a great night. Had a great mix of LA fans and Canuck fans in our section (Section 107) and there were few empty seats around which made for a great atmosphere. Disappointing to see the VIP section seats so empty, especially since the game was announced as a sell out. Stayed in Anaheim as I was attending the Ducks game and Disneyland and had no problem finding a taxi after a couple drinks at the Yardhouse!

    Almost the Habs

by Derwood35 on 2011-10-24STAPLES Center - Los Angeles

Being from Montreal and a Habs fan all my life, I have to admit that the Kings are a close second. Had a fantastic time at the game and will go back. They need a little more atmosphere in the Staples centre with some more music during the game to boost the crowd but overall an enjoyable time was had by all.
