Seattle Sounders FC History

The Seattle Sounders joined MLS in 2009 and quickly built a Western Conference powerhouse, winning four U.S. Open Cups, one Supporters' Shield (2014), and two MLS Cup Championships in 2016 and 2019.

Jordan Morris was named the 2019 MLS Comeback Player of the Year after recovering from a torn ACL that sidelined him for nearly all of 2018. In 2019, the Sounders earned the No. 2 seed in the MLS Western Conference and qualified for the MLS Cup Playoffs for the 11th straight season. In 2021, the Sounders became the first MLS club to advance to the finals match of the annual North American Leagues Cup tournament, and in 2022, the team won the interleague CONCACAF Champions Cup.

    Sounders Game vs Vancouver

    by Dave60 on 2012-08-26CenturyLink Field - Seattle

Great atmosphere. Better than any game I have been to in England and many other places. Lots of food and beer choices. Only downside was the loudmouth in front of us. He seemed to be an expert on soccer and Canada based on how loudly he was expressing his comments all game. Unfortunately he was neither, just someone ( see photo) who likes to hear his own voice and thinks others feel the same.

    Sounders Taught Valuable Football Lesson

by Leeds on 2011-07-22CenturyLink Field (Formerly Qwest Field) - Seattle

It was an excellent game. Manchester United out played and out ran the Seattle Sounders and showed them how football should be played. It highlighted the wide gulf between the, English Premier League and MLS. Great game, great weather and excellent atmosphere. Good value for money.

    Awesome Atmosphere!

by Luvtolaugh on 2011-07-22CenturyLink Field (Formerly Qwest Field) - Seattle

My daughters both play soccer and they loved seeing Manchester United play live (not just on tv). As my older daughter stated, when else could she ever see an England Premier team play and in Seattle against the Sounders to boot! Loved by all of us! Even though it was a land slide (was there ever a doubt), you gotta respect Seattle's love for their Sounders and the equally important fans that showed for Man U! An experience that my daughters and I will never forget! Century Link is an awesome stadium, awesome fans and Seattle is a great city! Recommend to all - luv the Canadians who came, saw and enjoyed themselves immensely!

by manulover on 2011-07-22CenturyLink Field (Formerly Qwest Field) - Seattle

I thought the game was fantastic.I was dissapointed that "God Save the Queen" was not played for the opposing team from the UK.Beer was terribly over priced.I thought the Sounders fans were awesome until Man U went way ahead.People started leaving 10min.before the match was over.Come on people, how often do you get to see the best football team in the UK play??????????

    Sounders vs ManU: fabulous experience

by ManUFan on 2011-07-22CenturyLink Field (Formerly Qwest Field) - Seattle

I'd never been to Qwest Field. What a magnificent facility! The game was exciting, as the Sounders kept pushing hard and making some great saves, though ManU always had the edge. My lasting impressions, though, were two non-game-related things: (1) how efficient the stadium staff and traffic police were in moving 67,000 people in and out of the facility and the area; and (2) how good-natured and friendly the crowd was. Lots of mixed groups of fans - a patchwork of red and green - and no hostility that I saw. Congratulations, Seattle!
