Was expecting a range of comedians whose material would be reflective of the multi-cultural aspects of the city. What we got were a string of moderately funny comics whose material, for the most part, had little to do with the evening's advertised theme. The evening began with an overly long, unfunny CBC person (who would be booed off the stage at any comedy club's open mike night). Luckily the sympathetic audience endured her intro until she was finally given the hook. What followed were a number of mediocre comics delivering safe, tepid material. The bite and edge of past shows was sorely missing. Without a true comic headliner to anchor the show, it just drifted from comic to comic. Another odd element was a 1/2 hour intermission. Odd because the overall show was not very long and no one needed an intermission. All it did was suck the energy from the room. The show really needs a producer who was better at selecting talent, understood the theme of the evening, was able to reign in the self-indulgent CBC management and understood the obligation to entertain the audience.
