I expected more than what I got.

by V6Nov on 2012-10-21The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

I went there with a lot of high expectations. What I got was borderline boring. Anyway, I was in good company. My lady friend enjoyed herself fully. So I will come back next year, thanks to her.

    Great show! Very funny.

Excellent show. Obviously some comics were funnier than others. Our seats in the balcony were not meant for tall people.

CBC Accent on Toronto only got 2.5 stars

by erletheperle on 2012-10-19The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

A mixed bag of talent and laughs. the CBC Funny Manager, Sandra Porteus, was forgettable and superfluous. I would have preferred either one other pro comedian or dividing her time among the others... When the real MC came out he said, "They promised that Sandra P.[the not funny manager] wouldn't tell jokes". I called from Row Z; "They told the truth!". The MC then made it clear that since the event was being recorded, the words were not his! I gladly take credit.

    Disappointed

by ChrisToronto on 2012-10-19The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Was expecting a range of comedians whose material would be reflective of the multi-cultural aspects of the city. What we got were a string of moderately funny comics whose material, for the most part, had little to do with the evening's advertised theme. The evening began with an overly long, unfunny CBC person (who would be booed off the stage at any comedy club's open mike night). Luckily the sympathetic audience endured her intro until she was finally given the hook. What followed were a number of mediocre comics delivering safe, tepid material. The bite and edge of past shows was sorely missing. Without a true comic headliner to anchor the show, it just drifted from comic to comic. Another odd element was a 1/2 hour intermission. Odd because the overall show was not very long and no one needed an intermission. All it did was suck the energy from the room. The show really needs a producer who was better at selecting talent, understood the theme of the evening, was able to reign in the self-indulgent CBC management and understood the obligation to entertain the audience.

    Mediocre date night

by Disappointedin416 on 2012-10-19The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

I was really looking forward to Accent on Toronto. I had gone to the event a few years ago and really had a great time. Only 2 of the 6 acts were funny. The others were quite bad. At the event we attended previously the comedians were much edgier and as a result...funnier. I was quite disappointed.

    My expectations were TOO high!

by terrilouwho on 2012-10-19The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Some great funny moments, but overall disapointing. I have been dying to attend one of these events for years. I think it was an off collection of comics this year and a few of them were dying up there. Oh well. Fun night out still. Nothing like live performance.

Accent on Toronto - great again!

by gtatom on 2011-10-26The Danforth Music Hall Theatre - Toronto

This is one show that you can look forward to every year. The talent is everything you might expect, and just scrapes by on the 'politically correct' side. A good laugh and the evening is over way too soon.

I laughed all night. Every comedian had their own style of funny. I can't wait until next year.

Accent on Toronto scores high yet again

by Downtowner on 2011-10-21The Danforth Music Hall Theatre - Toronto

I went to the first one 10 years ago and this show never fails to please. This year's show was very funny, with some new comedians that weren't the "regulars". I would highly recommend this for the CBC set over 50, but NOT for kids. We brough our nephews (14 and 16) and they were lost with most of the jokes. LOL Very funny show.

Great show. Well organized - good mix of comedic styles with interesting points of view on Toronto's landscape.

Lots of laughs at Accent on Toronto 10

by Ruta on 2011-10-21The Danforth Music Hall Theatre - Toronto

CBC provided the audience with an evening of laughter at the 10th anniversary of Accent on Toronto. The performers were top notch and had us wiping away tears and holding our sides from laughing so hard. Thank you CBC.
