  • Aimee Mann an amazing singer

by Nicki19 on 2017-04-29The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I've been to many concerts. This was the best of all! Aimee Mann has a great voice, but she also connects with the audience like no other singer. I felt I could be friends with her. Aimee Mann is talented, humble, dedicated, hardworking, and has a sense of humour.

I bought these tickets at the last minute and Mann, I'm glad I did. I will go see her again if she returns to Toronto. An easy stage presence, Aimee made everyone feel welcome. She has a great sense of humor and her banter with the opening act, Jonathan Coultan, was fun to watch. Pitch-perfect, note-perfect, she played everything you'd want to hear, including tracks from her new album. The one she left out, is my favorite, her cover of " Two of Us", I'd have liked to have heard that, but otherwise, a great show at a great venue (Danforth Music Hall)

  • The Night of All Nights

by Wendyloo on 2013-04-28New Hazlett Theater - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

Words cannot describe this event. We travelled 5 hours from Ontario to see Aimee Mann and Ted Leo play in Pittsburg - no we are not stalkers! The night started with the amazing Ted Leo, who is not only musical but also verging on comedic genius. Loved the fact that Aimee Mann was on bass as the new "Both" band played a number of songs from an upcoming release. The rapport that they share on stage is hilarious and kept us entertained. Aimee Mann's performance was over-the-top .... perhaps it was due to the fact that we were in the 4th row; perhaps it was the intimate venue setting or perhaps it was because she kicked ass! Best birthday of my life (and no I was not the person shouting out to Aimee)!!!!

Great show! Aimee was highly entertaining - great musical performances, and funny stage banter.

Loved it. A dream from my teenage self was fulfilled that night. Some classics from her, some humorous interactions with the audience and band, some stuff from the new album. The production was simple, the sound was a little off (too much drum!) but it was amazing to see Aimee live. So glad I went.

  • Aimee Mann solid and playful

by MrPearl on 2009-10-09Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Aimee Mann seemed almost overly relaxed, stating that it seemed like she was playing in a living room "and I like that". She played about an hour from a set list then opened up another hour for requests that the audience was more than willing to jot down on paper and bring to the front of the stage. I missed the lead guitar but there was plenty of colour coming from the 3 piece band behind her (mostly keys).

  • Wouldn't bother to review if it wasn't good

People are lazy. I'm lazy. But Aimee Mann delivered enough punch to pull me out of bed at 8:30 am to support her cause by posting this review. I don't believe the show was sold out, which was a shame, however it did give me a chance to buy a scalped ticket, as I dropped mine on the way to the concert. Easily worth it. Anyways, I'm a serious musician myself and there's something to be said for...legitimacy? Live shows are great, but I've never -quite- been the biggest fan; I'm not the guy who shows up just to see some modestly prepared energy train exclaiming 'I'm here, don't you love seeing me live'? Aimee Mann has great music that I can respect. The show was not a mish-mash of people flailing and producing mostly the sound you'd expect, it was played like it is on the album because it is well-written and what is written is played, to great effect. Hardly any cheating on chord structures, featuring clearly talented musicians who aren't about to fudge fast-rising octaves on the piano. That aside, great stage presence, attitude to suit her music and a laid back setting at the Commodore has this booked as a show to remember. Everything I was hoping for.
