About

After establishing himself as one of country's biggest stars and consistent hitmakers over two decades, Alan Jackson undertook a labor of love in 2013 and released his first bluegrass album, appropriately dubbed The Bluegrass Album. Despite being somewhat of a niche release, it still reached No. 3 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart, a testament to the huge and loyal fanbase Jackson has built over the years. He's sold more than 60 million albums worldwide over the course of his career, topped the country singles chart over 20 times and counts two Grammy Awards among the many statues in his trophy case. Among his best-known hits are "Don't Rock the Jukebox," "Chattahoochee," "Drive (For Daddy Gene)," "Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)," A Georgia native, Jackson got his big break when his wife, a flight attendant, spotted country-pop legend Glen Campbell in an airport waiting room and slipped him one of Jackson's demo tapes. That led to a contact with Campbell's publishing company and a move to Nashville for the couple. Jackson released his debut album, "Here in the Real World," in 1990, and his new traditionalist style was an immediate hit, spawning five Top 5 hits. As he developed his catalog of hits, ticket sales for his concerts grew steadily. He continues to tour regularly, consistently drawing huge crowds to arenas.

I've been an Alan Jackson fan for 20 years (his entire professional career). This show was the third time I was able to attend here in Saskatoon and I've never been disappointed. The song mix was great, from uptempo "Little Bitty" to pensive "Like Red on a Rose". It was great to see the video clips from around Saskatoon during the song "Where I Come From" and to hear Alan use Saskatoon, Canada and Canadian either in song or spoken. Alan has once again showed us that he may be "a singer of simple songs" but he does so with such fun, sincerity and emotion. He does leave you wanting to hear more. AJ truly is a legend. It was a Good Time.........please come back!

  • Should have been cancelled for weather

    by Gele34 on 2010-01-26Credit Union Centre - SaskatoonRating: 1 out of 5

Like many people I know, I was unable to attend this event due to the Blizzard. I had to give my tickets away to someone who had a truck and could make it down the grid roads. I think the concert should have been postponed. I heard from my friend who got my tickets that he only played for an hour. If I had risked my life travelling on highways that were NOT recommended for travel I would have expected him to play longer.

  • Awesome Concert

I really enjoyed the concert - Allan Jackson and his band is amazing. He played all of my favourites, but I was disappointed that the concert was so short - only one hour and 15 minutes including the encore which was only one song! I wanted more for my money - I could have sat and listened all night.......George Canyon was the backup and he was also really good - very proud of our Canadian talent.

This event was awesome - both George Canyon & Alan Jackson were great. Wish George Canyon would have performed a bit longer though. Alan Jackson needs to crack a smile more - the audience loves him no matter what! Would definitely see this performance again.

  • He doesn't move much but he sure can sing!

by Anonymous on 2010-01-26Credit Union Centre - SaskatoonRating: 4 out of 5

Loved George Canyon as a warm up. He is very much like Alan as he sings songs that ordinary people can relate to. Alan doesn't talk much but he has so many hit's that everything that he played you could sing along too. I heard they only sold 4000 tickets to the show which is a shame he deserves alot more then that. For those of us there it was a nice evening listening to him sing. He doesn't have all the glitz and glamour some stars do but he sure can sing and isn't that what it is all about the music.

  • Alan & George terrific

I only wish George & Alan would have played longer.

Absolutely incredible. The most incredible singer ever. Always was able to hear him and not just the band. The man has an incredible voice and is loved by all age groups. A good 'ol boy. Loves his wife, children and his country. It shows in his music. What a great Performer.

  • Was it the Weather?

by Jacksonfan on 2010-01-26Credit Union Centre - SaskatoonRating: 3 out of 5

Was it the weather that got to Alan Jackson on Sunday? I was in the fourth row and was so excited to see him for the first time...I was really dissappointed in the end. He seemed like he was going through the motions. Never really moved from the one spot, stared mindlessly above everyones heads and appeared almost intoxicated. He sounded great but for a seasoned entertainer....I sure didn't get my $200 worth. On the flip side...I loved George Canyon. What a nice man. I didn't really know to much about him before but I'm sure a fan now.

  • Awesome concert, but not long enough for the money

by plumkrazee58 on 2010-01-26Enmax Centrium - Red Deer, AlbertaRating: 4 out of 5

I absolutely adore Alan Jackson and have wanted to see him for a long time, always listen to his music, always watch his videos, just an awesome down-to-earth country boy. I wish all men were more like him, and he is so steaming HOT!! I was disappointed I was not able to get his autograph, but I had awesome seats, he really got the crowd going with his music and we loved every minute of it, but it was a bit short. George Canyon was awesome, first time I ever heard him, I would definitely go to see these two again, and next time, would definitely make sure I got their autographs .... one way or another.!! LOVE YOU ALAN!!!

  • Alan Jackson was awesome!!!!

The opening act George Canyon was incredible with his deep voice and clarity, as well he really got the crowd pumped with his energetic songs for Alan Jackson. Alan Jackson is the King of Country music. Every single song of his amazed the audience as well as his great vidoes ands lighting. The most spectacular thing that occured was his one video containing pictures of Saskatoon. The extra time it took his team to research our city highlights was greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten. This truly showed he cares about his fans, which made our concert more personal. I recommend to everyone to see this man in concert.

  • Allan Jackson was awesome!

by countrymama on 2010-01-25Credit Union Centre - SaskatoonRating: 5 out of 5

The show was definately worth driving 115 Miles, through a snowstorm where travel was not advised, to see. Allan's voice was incredible! The band was amazing! No short-cuts or missing instruments. The sound was wonderful, clear and crisp. The pictures taken by the tour bus on the way to the venue were interesting, and much appreciated by the fans of Saskatoon. It was also interesting to see the camera pan the audience, so we could watch others enjoying themselves. Allan was a great entertainer; he engaged the audience with his references to Saskatchewan and it's people. He also made comparisons between his life and the lives of the spectators. He sure knows how to please a crowd. The band returned or an encore which made everyone excited. I would love to see this band again. My one minor disappointment was that the big screens went out for a few songs and our view of the main screen was hampered by the speakers. This only lasted for a bit, and surely did not cause a major problem for me.

  • ALLAN JACKSON AND GEORGE CANYON

ALLAN JACKSON AND GEORGE CANYON WERE BOTH EXCELLENT ENTERTAINERS. DESPITE THE WEATHER WE MADE IT TO THE SHOW AND TOTALLY ENJOYED IT.

  • by HugeCountryFan on 2010-01-25Credit Union Centre - SaskatoonRating: 4 out of 5

I enjoyed the Alan Jackson/George Cayon concert very much. I would have enjoyed it much better, had the crowd been alittle more lively. When I go to concerts I enjoy seeing others enjoy themselves. We were on the floor and for most of the concert everyone stayed in their seats. it was hard to know who was actually enjoying themselves. Alan Jackson is legend. Thanks for coming back to Saskatoon.

  • Allan Jackson/George Canyon were fantastic..

I am so happy I went to this concert ....just saw Allan Jackson when he was in Saskatoon with Brooks and Dunn but this concert was outstanding. The SOUND WAS PERFECT! I could hear the voices..not just loud music. Took my 10 year old granddaughter..her very first concert...she wanted to hear "Remember when" and of course, Allan sang it. She was elated.
