About

After establishing himself as one of country's biggest stars and consistent hitmakers over two decades, Alan Jackson undertook a labor of love in 2013 and released his first bluegrass album, appropriately dubbed The Bluegrass Album. Despite being somewhat of a niche release, it still reached No. 3 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart, a testament to the huge and loyal fanbase Jackson has built over the years. He's sold more than 60 million albums worldwide over the course of his career, topped the country singles chart over 20 times and counts two Grammy Awards among the many statues in his trophy case. Among his best-known hits are "Don't Rock the Jukebox," "Chattahoochee," "Drive (For Daddy Gene)," "Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)," A Georgia native, Jackson got his big break when his wife, a flight attendant, spotted country-pop legend Glen Campbell in an airport waiting room and slipped him one of Jackson's demo tapes. That led to a contact with Campbell's publishing company and a move to Nashville for the couple. Jackson released his debut album, "Here in the Real World," in 1990, and his new traditionalist style was an immediate hit, spawning five Top 5 hits. As he developed his catalog of hits, ticket sales for his concerts grew steadily. He continues to tour regularly, consistently drawing huge crowds to arenas.

  • Alan Jackson was incredible

What an excellent show, no fluff, no fuss, just Alan singing his heart out effortlessly. He is such a humble entertainer and not flambouyant which is what sets him in a class of his own.

My husband and I enjoyed the concert. Alan Jackson is a good entertainer, and I know and like his songs. I wish he had 'used' more of the stage, as we were in the cheap seats. They were great seats becaused we got to see some of the behind the scenes action as well as the screens but Alan Jackson stayed pretty close to the mike. He had the crowd involved as his music draws you in but we saw Garth Brooks quite a few years ago in Vancouver and his stage presence is awesome, he is everywhere drawing everyone in (and we had cheap seats then, too. What I was a little disappointed in was the fact we did not see more of George Canyon, but I certainly enjoyed what we did see of him. He certainly drew us in and made us part of the show. I am sorry that I missed his Christmas show when he was in Williams Lake, B.C. as I heard it was remarkable. All in all we had an enjoyable evening at the concert. Thanks Alan Jackson and George Canyon

The only thing that both my wife and I didn't care for was the long wait between acts. A lot of people in our section didn't care for the long wait either. The large screens were great. Allan's band did a great job, very entertaining. Please keep bringing great acts to Kamloops.

  • AJ is still a great entertainer

Just an unbelievable concert. Very good crowd particapation and Alan Jackson and George Canyon both mentioned the city they were in on several occaions drove the crowd crazy. George Canyon came out wearing the Kamloops Blazers hockey jersey and the fans went wild. Alan Jackson near the end of the concert sang "Where I Come From" and on the screen was video of the city of Kamloops this showed to me that he really appreciated the fans of our town and this was his thank you to us, very nice touch made the concert more personal. It was so nice to go to a concert that you could actually understand all the words that were being sung. I went to the Brooks and Dunn concert two weeks previous and Alan Jackson blew them out of the water. I will be "horse" for the next couple of days I'm sure, as I sang to each and every song. Thanks again for a great show.

  • Alan Jackson was fantastic.

The opening act George Canyon was wonderful. However he didn't play long enough. I understand that this was due to the band equipment change over. However it was completed within 20 minutes but we had to wait another 25 minutes before the main show. This I found to be unacceptable & no need for. The show should have started immediatley following the change.

  • Awesome show

by Pride on 2009-11-16Interior Savings Centre - KamloopsRating: 5 out of 5

Alan Jackson was absolutely awesome. He sang a lot of his older songs and that was a highlight for me. I love his" Where Were You", and it makes me cry to hear the words and the emotions he puts into this song. You can almost feel the pain of those people who lost their loved ones. Of course, I enjoyed all of his songs because I have always been a real fan of his. Alan was on the stage for close to an hour and a half. The auditorium has good acoustics, and the lighting was very well done as well. I appreciate the fact that they had big screen TV's so you could see very well.

  • AJ and GC were great

I took my daughter to George Canyon & Alan Jackson last night. I was very impressed with both acts. The light and video show that went along with it were great. I would go see them again if they ever come back to Kamloops.

  • Alan Jackson rocked Kamloops!!!

OMG Both George Canyon and Alan Jackson rocked the house in Kamloops on November 15th, 2009. It was by far one of the best concerts that I have gone to. In my opinion, even better than Brooks and Dunn. George Canyon was so down to earth and got the crowd going with sporting our hockey team's jersey (The Blazers). Alan Jackson was fantastic entertaining us with all of his hits including, Where I come from, Mercury Blues, Good time etc.. His voice was crystal clear and he seemed to really enjoy himself, getting into his songs.

Alan Jackson played all the great songs I loved. He was so comfortable and casual on stage it felt as if he was in my living room, singing just for us. It was a great night.

Alan Jackson as always put on a great show. Talent doesn't need smoke and mirrors, and AJ got loads of it. The only thing I can say is it was over too quick! Only one encore :( Worth the hundred bucks.

This is the 3rd time I have seen Alan Jackson and each time it just gets better and better. He not only sings great but interacts with his audience so honestly that you really feel he is the orginal "Country Boy". Hats off to him and his incredible band!

Alan Jackson knows how to play to the crowd. His video presentation adds to the show and portrays a lot of his personal, fun, and family side. He also adds some local touch to the video when doing "Where I Come From" which plays well with the crowd. He played a mixture of his older, recognizable hits as well as some newer stuff and mixed everything up very well. We saw him at the Merritt Mountain Music Festival in 2002 and now again here in Kamloops. Overall, an excellent show. We definitely recommend it and will see him again if and when he returns to our area.
