    Frankenstien

by MamaLlama on 2019-11-05Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Loved it! It was an amazing and moving production for a million reasons, but what was most impressive, for us, was the fact that it was male dominant. As a dance mom to a preteen boy, it was so fantastic to be able to take him to a production that truly showcased the potential and strengths of classically trained Male dancers. Thank you for all the hard work and dedication that went into this preformance.

    Amazing!

by K. on 2019-11-05Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Frankenstein was the best ballet I’ve ever been to. The music was great, the text on the screen was fun and the dancing was incredible. I’ve told everyone that it’s a must see if it comes back! Thank you!

    Spectacular choreography.

by Ken Drouillard on 2019-11-05Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Superb dancing. Superb choreography. Lifted the dance experience to a level I have not seen before. Amazing technology. Text could have been displayed longer. Sometime hard to see from the top of the upper balcony. Loved the soundtrack and sound quality.

    They forgot to dance

by Sweetpotato on 2019-11-05Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Too much technology was incorporated (earth map showing the traveling). It was excessive and took too much time. We saw very little dancing. And what we saw was too weak and boring. Not even Frankenstein delivered. Overall very disappointed.

    Incredible

by Tyler on 2019-11-05Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

The show and experience what amazing from the start. They really out did themselves with this beautiful, intense and deep performance that had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I highly recommend this and any performance put on by the Alberta Ballet, to anyone one. Ballet fans and newcomers alike.

    Masterpiece

by D. on 2019-11-05Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Intelligent choreography... I am sure it was purposeful with movement and poses, as some of the great masterpieces of all time came to life on stage... The Last Supper and Thinking Man! Amazing modernization of Frankenstein

    Meh

by Rd on 2019-11-05Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

The dancing was beautiful but the text running above it either distracted us from the dancing or was missed because we where watching the dancing. Either leading to parts being missed. As for the story the pacing felt rushed and most of the female characters just felt stuck in there as an excuse to create drama. Frankenstein had more chemistry with his best friend than his fiance

Interesting and enjoyed it very much except for....

by Trace on 2019-11-04Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Everything was great with exception for the story typed overhead. It was way too high up and if you were sitting in the first 20 rows you had to crank your neck up to read it (I think i missed some of the text as i did not notice it all the time). And the timing of the text should've happened when nothing on stage to be missed while reading.

    Disappointed !

by Amateur on 2019-11-04Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

The dancing was fine. Frankenstein‘s dancing performances were awesome! However, I felt that most of the dancing was filler, that did not directly relate back to a potentially great storyline about Frankenstein.

    Frankenstein and the Alberta Ballet

by a. p. on 2019-11-04Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

What a fantastic production. Never been to the ballet before, it's not my thing, but I loved it. The "no vocals" took some getting used to, but the bombastic, ominous music, the lifelike backdrops, the entire production, was uber cool. Glad my wife dragged me along. Loved it.

    Misnomer

by B on 2019-11-04Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Not much ballet until the second act. Mostly modern dance throughout. First act felt like it would never end...the angst was literally killing us. Dancers were excellent. Choreography was sub par. Repetitive and became boring to watch. Was very happy when it was over. The worst “ballet” I have seen.

    Intriguing

by Marashortpanta on 2019-11-04Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

This was my first Ballet. Even though it wasn’t a traditional ballet, I did enjoy it. The combination of dance and multi media, and the adaption of the story were all well done.

    Brilliant

by Newish on 2019-11-03Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

The ballet was brilliant. The multi media set set the tone for the each scene. Surtitles minimally used were effective in describing thibgs that couldn't be communicated by dance. The evolution of the creature/monster reflected in his movements growing from contorted and tortured to fluid. Loved the strength and interplay between the male dancers, and the litheness of the women.

    WOW

by Shell on 2019-11-03Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

My first ballet, absolutely spell-binding, couldn’t take my eyes off the wonderful staging and dancers. Hope there is more of this to come!

    Amazing!

by Leif on 2019-11-03Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Hit all of the right dramatic notes. There were happy movements, sad movements, and creepy movements all of the right tone and timing. The entire performance had an air of dread shadowing it. The performers were really at the top of their game.

    Frankenstein marvel

by Eve on 2019-11-01Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

This ballet had a dark theme with dark music to match. I thoroughly enjoyed the different style of music and dance.

I took my sister. She has never seen a ballet. She loved it. I have bought tickets for the nutcracker as well. Can hardly wait.

    Frankenstein is a Masterpiece

by Danielle on 2019-10-31Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I was blown away by Alberta Ballet's Frankenstein. I was awe-struck by the beauty of the choreography, the prowess of the dancers, the amazingly beautiful costumes, the multimedia set, and the harmony of the music with the dramatic play. We are so blessed to have Jean Grand-Maître as artistic director in Calgary. Frankenstein is a masterpiece.

    A Great and Challenging Story

by Bruce M on 2019-10-29Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

While there certainly were great challenges in undertaking such a complex and challenging story, I think that the Alberta Ballet accomplished their goal of retelling the heart and soul of a story that most should know, but in reality very few do. I was moved by the love of the creature for his creator... a theme that resonates to the soul of every person. Well done for accepting the challenge!
