Otherness is the first album in over a decade from the group Rolling Stone declared "put Canadian post-hardcore on the map." Five guys playing aggressive rock grew to a hockey-arena headlining phenomenon while pushing and pulling between spirited guitar leads, melodic might, and emotional weight.
AOF released four hugely successful studio albums, all Music Canada Platinum-certified: Alexisonfire (2002), Watch Out (2004), Crisis (2006), and Old Crows / Young Cardinals (2009). Kerrang! counted Crisis (2006) among the 50 Best Albums of the 21st Century, alongside undeniable classics from Green Day, Muse, Slipknot, My Chemical Romance, Blink-182, and Fall Out Boy. After Crisis hit No. 1 in Canada, at a stage where many bands compromise in search of greater success, Alexisonfire doubled down with even heavier riffs on album four, Old Crows/Young Cardinals. Released in 2009, it became their highest-charting record in America.
The guys never sacrificed the punk soul summoned in beat-up vans and basement shows. Blending their classic sound with new and forward-thinking textures, they produced Otherness themselves. Jonah Falco of Fucked Up mixed.
As Revolver Magazine noted in 2019: "It's hard to overstate the influence Alexisonfire had in post-hardcore through the mid-2000s, their combination of singing and screaming setting the blueprint for many artists to come."

The show sooooo awesome! All acts brought so much energy to the show. In my opinion, AOF can do no wrong, so I'm probably quite biased with this review. But I've never been disappointed any time I've seen their shows and each time they just keep getting better and better. They have really matured as a band, and you can definitely tell when you see them live. Everything flows nicely and there are no awkward gaps or silences. The two openers were pretty good as well. I've never seen either band before, but I would definitely recommend them to others.
" Alex is on fire?" " Why does that Kid scream so much? " " Cause he's on fire" I love this band. There are the grandfather's of Hardcore. If you ever have a chance to go see them you should.
Alexisonfire put on yet another amazing show. I love the energy that they all bring the stage. This concert focused mainly on their last two albums, which are awesome live. The opening acts were very good as well. They were a good match to be opening for Alexisonfire. An amazing show, I would definitely recommend seeing them if you every get the opportunity.
Well I must say, Alexisonfire is so amazing live! I am definitely going to make sure I attend ALL of their shows wherever I am!!! Such an amazing group!!!
THIS IS THE 5TH TIME I'VE SEEN AOF AND THEY NEVER GET OLD!! THEY ALWAYS SOUND GREAT AND PUT ON A HIGH ENERGY SHOW!!!
Alexisonfire, whether they are your taste or not, are amazing at what they do. Their stage presence is more than a lot of bands. I love them.
Best Band Ever...venue ok. Will go and see tuis band everyone they come to Edmonton...may even try another city as well. Can not go wrong with AOF!!
I like the venue. Aof worked hard all went well. Didn't know the opening bands but they did well too.
Great show!!!! Only a few problems.....Didn't get into the venue on time and since its freezing in Vancouver right now that wasn't cool and was I the only one who had trouble hearing George?!? If he screams and I cannot hear him, turn up his mike!!!! Steel always steals the show though. He was amazing and his moustache was TOO COOL. The band fed of of the energy of the crowd and played much longer then usual and left everyone leaving happy.
from opening song to 4-song encore, sick show. openers were decent but alexis freakin rocked it. e
I didnt necessarly care for la dispute or norma jean (they sounded too much the same), 3 inches of blood really got the crowd pumped up and ready for AOF. Alexisonfire played a lot of good tracks and all my favorites and they really got involved witht he crowd which is always great. I appreciate george mentioning to support local bands, because im all for that and supporting our canadian artists.
Alexisonfire was absolutly amazing. I had to wear ear plugs to screen out most of the awesome, otherwise I don't think I could have processed it.
Having seen them play 3 times already it is all new everytime they play. The amount of energy they bring, the lyrics, the insurmentals. Everything. Always have an awesome time as people say "getting in my zone" when it comes to hearing these guys play. The small town of Clifford was def. an unusal place to have this, but made the concert that much better. thanks again for the awesome show! and amazing music! xo
After driving 2.5 hrs to a lil town called Clifford...parking in the middle of a field and making the trek to a small baseball field we were welcomed by cold beer and such a mix of people followed by amazing music. There was barley enough people there to fill the gravel of the diamond but all the energy would have made you think there was thousands. Had an amazing time all round.
Alexisonfire absolutely tore this one up. They played good song after good song after good song. I think the highlight of the night for me was Pulmonary Archery... but next time please play Waterwings! Amazing concert, the mosh pit was intense.
Alexisonfire was great! Its fantastic to see such well known acts visit a small area - its much more accommodating or those to not have to drive 2-3 hours to see a decent show!
