About

Otherness is the first album in over a decade from the group Rolling Stone declared "put Canadian post-hardcore on the map." Five guys playing aggressive rock grew to a hockey-arena headlining phenomenon while pushing and pulling between spirited guitar leads, melodic might, and emotional weight.

AOF released four hugely successful studio albums, all Music Canada Platinum-certified: Alexisonfire (2002), Watch Out (2004), Crisis (2006), and Old Crows / Young Cardinals (2009). Kerrang! counted Crisis (2006) among the 50 Best Albums of the 21st Century, alongside undeniable classics from Green Day, Muse, Slipknot, My Chemical Romance, Blink-182, and Fall Out Boy. After Crisis hit No. 1 in Canada, at a stage where many bands compromise in search of greater success, Alexisonfire doubled down with even heavier riffs on album four, Old Crows/Young Cardinals. Released in 2009, it became their highest-charting record in America.

The guys never sacrificed the punk soul summoned in beat-up vans and basement shows. Blending their classic sound with new and forward-thinking textures, they produced Otherness themselves. Jonah Falco of Fucked Up mixed.

As Revolver Magazine noted in 2019: "It's hard to overstate the influence Alexisonfire had in post-hardcore through the mid-2000s, their combination of singing and screaming setting the blueprint for many artists to come."

Well first of all I could had pay $47 and not the VIP poster package that cost me more and it really didn't get me anything not even the poster, I still had to make a line up for the beer garden witch I think it was bull, next time I rather see them in a small venue and pay less. my review i was dissapointed I came all the way from the Yukon to see them.

    Alexisonfire for the third time

by raynemadeleine on 2012-12-22Shaw Conference Centre - Edmonton

Absolutely Deadly. Crowd was a bit rough but honestly thats what shows like AOF are there to deliver. Third and last time I'll see them and being in the front row was amazing and unforgettable. George Pettit is a sexy beast.

They are better in person. They are amazing performers and love their crowd. Sad to see them for the last time, but loved the concert.

Amazing! So so good. Had everyone jumping and getting a little rowdy. The only problem is shaw conference centre doesn't have very good sound quality so when Dallas green serenades you it's kind of ruined :/

Best concert I've ever been to, ever.

by Alexisfan26 on 2012-12-21Shaw Conference Centre - Edmonton

The venue (Shaw Conference Center) was really giant and cool looking, and the opening act I think was called Moneen. Even though I had no idea who Moneen was, I still really enjoyed their performance, because they played good music, and the lead singer even came down to the mosh pit barricade and let a crowd surfer sing a part of the song. It was great. Then of course Alexisonfire was beyond amazing. They played a lot of their older songs so the fans from the very beginning were able to experience everything all over again. Also, I'd just like to add that the security guards were awesome because they weren't uptight douchebags and they were funny and messed around and gave us water.

Some of the best shows I have ever seen, Alexisonfire has delivered every time I've seen them and even surpassed their earlier performances. It's really a shame that they had to go their separate ways... Theonlybandever FTW.

    AWESOME

by SEXYJEW on 2011-01-05Sound Academy - Toronto

I went to see the Alexisonfire concert a month ago with a friend and it was great. The band was full of energy and they were superb. The only complaint I have about the concert was the venue, it was just too small for all the people there, but that didn't subtract from the passion and great show the band put out.

Good Show With Some Good Energy

by MosHop on 2010-12-21Sound Academy - Toronto

I've been to a lot of shows, and Sound Academy has to be my absolute favourite venue - so when I heard Alexisonfire was going to stop in, I had to jump at the chance to see them. Unfortunately, the mosh pit fell a little short of the shows I'm used to, but would probably be a good started show for people interested in such activities. The music itself was mostly well performed, at certain times Dallas Green's voice became a little distorted and muddled, but George made up for it with some great energy. One major complaint - in between songs Alexisonfire plays a lot of white noise and feedback until the next song. I find this really irritating. Not a bad show at all, a must see for big fans, especially of their newer work (Alexis' older tracks from their self-titled album and Watch Out! were noticeably scarce).

    alexisonfire gets better with age

by J1300 on 2010-12-13THE CAPITAL MUSIC HALL - Ottawa

I've seen Alexisonfire at least five times and each time, they manage to top themselves. For a group of "old crows", they have overwhelming energy on stage. I can't wait to see them again!

    Alexisonfire is just great

    by cb7frank on 2010-12-13Métropolis - Montreal

I showed up later simply because i was there to watch Alexisonfire and not the other bands. Alexisonfire is a great band, the show was awsome. Their stage presence was amazing , except they didnt play any of their older stuff which was a bit dissappointing. no other "complaints" other than that!

    Alexisonfire were ON FIRE!!!

by HeatherG on 2010-12-12Métropolis - Montreal

Alexisonfire never disappoints. They always play and amazing and unforgettable show, I have never missed a show. This one was probably the best one i've ever seen of them in montreal. They played songs that they never play live, like "mailbox arson" and they played a new song off of their new EP "dogs blood" amazing, everyone has to see Alexisonfire play like once before they die.

by damndelish on 2010-12-09Burton Cummings Theatre - Winnipeg

This was my second time seeing Alexisonfire at the burt, and i don't regret it at all! They never dissapoint! They played all the songs i wished they would, with more stuff off their last two albums rather than their new EP which i was happy with. I sang along all night! I wish the opening acts were a little better! Can't wait to see them again! Dallas is a gem!

ALWAYS a good time. I miss the days where they and other hardcore bands would play at Prairieland : (. Not so much fun dancing when you can't move without getting an elbow to the face.

    Rocked the house!

    by AH1974 on 2010-12-07PNE Forum - Vancouver

Like I said, rocked the house! 3 inches of blood were best, alexis on fire rocked, norma jean sucked! (Give it to Canadian bands 1st, eh?!) Norma Jean was just screaming and noise, 3 inches of blood were so rockin and upbeat (What i like), so fast, I kept rockin back and forth in stadium, guys sittin down said "Yah dude!". Alexis on Fire rocked, too, but some of their stuff was too slow for me! But that's who we were there to see! All in all, a rockin show!
