Amigo the Devil on Tour

Amigo the Devil, the artistic moniker for musician Danny Kiranos, is a fitting juxtaposition for the acoustic troubadour who challenges the expectations of country fans, folk traditionalists and metal rockers alike with his unique brand of grisly "MurderFolk". Though armed with just his vocals and a banjo or acoustic guitar, experiencing Amigo the Devil in concert is unlike any typical folk show. He sings his dark, poetic lyrics from the soul and performs with a theatrical flair that engages everyone in the crowd. Rooted in the art of storytelling and infused with unsuspecting doses of humor, Amigo the Devil grips the audience by the very first line, making life's less-than-pleasant moments relatable to fans of all genres through songs centered around themes of loss, doubt and regret. The multifaceted artist draws from diverse elements that range from bluegrass to electropunk, country rap and gothic rock. On his 2021 album, Born Against, he weighs on past and present musical influences to create his own authentic expression of multi-faceted talent. You can catch Amigo the Devil on tour as across the U.S. throughout 2022-23, commanding the stage with his original style, clever lyrics and hummable tunes that get people to sing along with their demons.

Amigo the Devil Live in Concert

Before he became known by the masses as Amigo the Devil, Danny Kiranos was a man from Miami with a banjo and opinion. Today, this one-man folk band is appearing at festivals and headlining shows across the country with a cult-like band of followers who will drive hours to watch Amigo the Devil on tour. The Florida native taught himself how to play guitar at the age of 13, eventually releasing music under his pseudonym by 2010. As a first-generation American, Kiranos grew up on his parents' world music of the classic Bolero tradition and sounds from Eastern European folk. Later in his career, he was introduced to storytelling influences -- such as Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits and Fiona Apple -- and gained an appreciation for metallic rock that help shape the music he makes today. As people from all walks of life were won over by the disarming nature of his songs that speak to the human condition, his audience grew in size and appreciation. After the self-taught artist released his debut album, Everything is Fine, in 2018 and experienced a huge spike in popularity, he found himself performing in larger venues to larger crowds. Over the years, he's built a dedicated fanbase who treat each other like family in a community group called "The Fellowship" on Facebook, some of whom have gotten one of the many Amigo the Devil tattoos that are displayed on his website. He's even honored in his home city of Austin, Texas, with an "Amigo the Devil Day," which falls on November 16 every year.

  • Emotional, Thrilling, Above and Beyond

This was my first time getting to see Amigo the Devil live after adoring every musical creation of his for the last seven years, so be prepared because I must gush about this amazing man and band. Amigo quickly became one of my all time favourite artists the first time listening to his work, and his show at The Opera House, July 2025, will forever be etched into my memory as one of the most amazing and awe inspiring concerts I had the honour of witnessing. I’m not exaggerating when I say I have wanted to listen to him live so badly that I nearly booked a trip to Austin, Texas to catch one of his shows there after unfortunately missing the one in Toronto around that time. Amigo’s artistry is so raw and powerful, jaw dropping, thought provoking, and deeply emotional. From lyrical genius, instrumental expertise, and mind-boggling vocals that range from melodically smooth to rugged booming roars—Amigo is an absolute inspiration, and his bandmates work with him on stage so skillfully. Despite the recent and heart-wrenching events in his life, Amigo was a powerhouse on stage through and through. This is a show that you feel through your body and your soul. The drumming was like thunder by your ears, reverberating through your feet up to your throat and rooting you to the ground. Your emotions coast along with each tone and shift, racing hearts to stillness that holds tightly, and feeling your bones shake to the power of the music filling the space. I have been to plenty of heavy metal shows that didn’t even compare. I know this is the first review I am writing about a performance, and possibly even the longest I could manage to, but I could write on and on about Amigo the Devil even if it was long enough to be a novel. If my words speak to anyone deciding to read them, and you are into or interested in dark folk or as some call it MurderFolk, I implore you to take the first opportunity you can to join an Amigo the Devil show, and prepare to be blown away. Thank you for an amazing, unforgettable show, Amigo. I can’t wait for the next one!

This artist is special to me and my partner. He's carved an unreal enwieldingly eternal spot in my heart that few artists do. This show, 3 weeks after he'd lost EVERYTHING in a fire, was cathartic. For him. For us. For everyone. We all needed it more than words can express. Thank you, Danny. For doing the tour, despite your world crashing down. It means so much. I am grateful.

Amigo the Devil is an incredible force. Fronm his lyrics to the melodies to his powerful voice, everything was perfection. His equally talented wife did a song with him as well, just blown away. I will be at every single show he does in Toronto after this!

  • A legend in the works!

I've been a fan of this artist for a while and finally had the chance to see him play a couple months back, his energy and the way he can control the crowd was amazing, everyone in the building was screaming his lyrics back at him, myself included, and I would see him and do it all again in a heartbeat! If you have the chance to see him, take it before his tickets sell for what they're worth, I know ill never miss a show within a fivie hour drive of home if I have the chance.
