    Angels & Airwaves in Toronto

    by AJ182 on 2010-04-29Sound Academy - Toronto

Angels & Airwaves played a solid show last night at The Sound Academy in Toronto. Tom, the apparent front-man lead the band through a high energy and dramatic set. He was fueled by the crowd’s ruckus who chose “Tom” as their common chant over “AVA”. It was hard to take time to sympathize with the other band members as most were focused on Tom who debuted his newest dramatic hand gestures and interpretive dance moves. The band stayed true to their positive message as Tom made sure to drop encouraging words and advice of pursuing dreams inbetween songs. One apparent change from their previous shows was the infiltration of Blink’s influence on Tom’s stage presence. His previously sobering AVA stage mentality was accented with booby jokes and a tongue flailing out of his mouth during his explanation of Love Like Rockets. The band lived to their expectations and a similar vibe to their previous tours. Highlights and changes included a talking space computer and their new military jackets emblazoned with AVA crests and American flags. After several years of touring it was apparent the band had crowd-pleasing to a science. After Tom’s inspirational words and lyrics he closed the show emotionally singing out, “Torontoooooo kicks the shit out offfff….Vancouver.”

    Everything, Everything's Magic

by ThirdEYE on 2010-04-29Sound Academy - Toronto

This was my first time seeing AVA live. I have been a fan of them since We Dont Need To Whisper, but never had a chance to actually get out and see them... Honestly the stage show was incredible, tom was bang on, atom was tight as hell on drums... So impressed that i was sad for it to end... cannot wait for them to come back to Toronto... hopefully there is a second leg to the love our fingers crossed!!!

    Great soulful performance from DeLonge!!!

    by Blink182182 on 2010-04-29Sound Academy - Toronto

This is my 3rd Angels and Airwaves concert to date, and once again I was not disappointed. I am a huge fan of Angels since they convey such a great message and their band is very different from typical mainstream bands. This band is serious about their music and it shows when they perform. Tom and the band get deep into the music when they play and you can feel it as an audience member. The only negative comments I have would be, the lighting was to dark and at most times I could only see the shadows of the bands, and I was standing very close to the band. Also the strobe lights were way too intense and my friend and I found it blinding at times. Also compared to previous shows Tom didn’t interact or talk as much during this show, they only strictly performed music. A couple times Tom forgot his lyrics, but all true Blink fans should expect this LOL! But overall I was blown away with this band as usual and I would highly recommend any fan to see them live!

Angels and Airwaves owned the stage

by halfro on 2010-04-29Sound Academy - Toronto

The opening band they brought wasn't my favourite, I could agree with their talent but they were too whinny punk "my parents grounded me" type band with a 30 year old singer. Not my style but if somebody overed their lyrics they were very good. During this time we went and purchased some jagerbombs to combat the quality of the bands performance however the venue was overpriced (21$ later). No matter, its something to be prepared for at any venue and when Angels and Airwaves took the stage they were amazing, good amount of crowd play but weren't always stopping to tell you how their day was. To top it all off I was happy to see Tom is still as immature in his interludes between songs as he was with Blink. So overall, A&A were amazing just check their opener to see if there worth showing for and carry lots of cash money incase the bar is more then you thought, and enjoy the show.

AVA put on an amazing show, I was blown away. The Sound was good but lights went out for a minute or so when Say Anything was on stage. But it wasnt the bands fault. This show was Amazing!!!!

Angels and Airwaves - The best kept secret

    by Jennybell1 on 2010-04-15MacEwan Hall - Calgary

We had a fantastic time! We were probably one of the few people over the age of 30 but the band did a great job of keeping us entertained and part of the whole experience. As always the aim to please! I have always wanted to hear "Breathe" live as that is the one song that means so much to me, and it was so great to hear it at the end of the night. Can't wait to see them again!

Tom Delonges absolute best live performance in many years! Light show was amazing. Not too much talking, yet just enough communication with the audience. I would give both legs to relive the experience

Angels and Airwaves / Say Anything

by PaulJ on 2010-04-13MacEwan Hall - Calgary

Say Anything was great, but at the risk of sounding like I am 97 years old, both bands were way too loud. Music was distorted because of that.

    AVA Brings Down The Houe

    by SS923 on 2010-04-13MacEwan Hall - Calgary

Angels & Airwaves formed afterthe 2005 blink-182 hiatus started, and you can tell that this is a project that Tom DeLonge is VERY passionate about. From beginning to end, AVA was phenomenal. Vocals, instrumentals, energy, EVERTHING. It was a mindblowing, amazing experience.

    AvA is amazing live!

by PhiltheBlinker on 2010-04-13MacEwan Hall - Calgary

So this was the first time at an Angels & Airwaves concert. And let me tell ya, it was amazing! They played soo many good songs and everyone was definitely feelin it. I really enjoyed the start of Epic Holiday, when Adam went to the side drum set and was drumming standing up, that was pretty sweet. The light show was pretty fantastic, but nothing overly special. Top 3 songs were Everything's Magic, The Adventure, and The War. Everyone was goin crazy on those ones! Tom also shared about their mission of LOVE, and spreading love and why they decided to write songs about love. They all grew up in punk rokc bands, but decided they wanted to write songs that could change the world. So far they have done a lot. I really enjoyed the show because the lyrics of their songs are so true and genuine, and are backed with wondrous melodies. All in all, EPIC CONCERT

Say Anything was awful. But the big show of AVA was good. A little too much synth/techno/effects but enjoyable in the end.

    FACE PACED LIGHT SHOW

    by STARZFAN1 on 2010-04-13MacEwan Hall - Calgary

This was a very very good show, very fast paced and a really good light show. Opening act Say Anything, 6 guys who dressed in the same color pants, shirt and even had the same hair cuts, they kept telling every one after each song who they were got tiring after a while, won't be go out anytime in the future to buy any of there material.
