At the end of 2012, the symphonic metal rock group, Apocalyptica, returned home to Finland to work on "Wagner Reloaded." This concert, a tribute to the 200th anniversary of Richard Wagner’s birth, was a spectacular melding of rock, classical music, dance and theater. It premiered in Leipzig, Germany, on July 5, 2013, and tickets sold out. Fans of Apocalyptica will be excited to hear about the band's upcoming tour, starting March 9, 2014, in Finland. Ticket buyers will be treated to the group’s signature heavy metal cello music and their newest song, “Psalm,” as they join the Finnish Avanti! Chamber Orchestra for a series of concerts in northern Europe.
Apocalyptica came together in 1993 when cellists Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, Max Lilja and Antero Manninen decided to play Metallica covers. Their debut album, "Metallica by Four Cellos," was released in 1996, followed by "Inquisition Symphony" in 1998. Perttu Kivilaakso, who had appeared with the group in 1995, joined the band in 1999. The album, "Cult, released in 2000, included some metal rock covers, while "Reflections," released in 2003, featured all original songs. In 2003, Mikko Sirén joined the group and added his pounding percussion to Apocalyptica’s hard rocking strings. He was named an official band member in 2005, the same year the group released their fifth album, "Apocalyptica." The album, "Worlds Collide," came out in 2007. It achieved critical success, peaking at No. 7 on the Billboard Top Independent Albums chart. Apocalyptica played their unique blend of exciting cello-centered metal rock as special guests of the 2007 Eurovision Final. The band released "7th Symphony" in 2010 and went on a worldwide tour for the next two years. After Apocalyptica finishes their upcoming tour in spring 2014, they'll return to Leipzig on June 7 and 8 for a thrilling encore presentation of "Wagner Reloaded."

As usual strong performance by Apocalyptica. Enjoyed their new songs.
Apocalyptica was good, lots of energy but knowing that they have been touring the same show for 20 years, I do think they could have done a better job with the song arrangements. . . Sound was not always crisp or clear, often distorted but not in a good way. Not a bad show, just not as great as I had hoped.
What an awesome group of musicians! I enjoyed every moment of it. And I've never seen such enthusiastic audience at a concert before. And it was for the reason. The venue as great as well.
Good Group and Good sound. I went there because my girl love that group. i enjoy it. That was fun.
After waiting several years to finally get to see them live, Apocalyptica didn't disappoint. Despite injuries and exhaustion (Montreal being their last show in North America), they gave their everything. They were simple breathtaking in their difference and the talent they demonstrate is simply unbelievable. Thank you for an unforgettable night!
No second thoughts needed, these guys are top notch. They exceed expectations every time they play and you're in for the best rock concert you've ever seen. Their sound quality is very clear, literally even better than on the record. Cello definitely beats typical guitar for uniqueness and sound. Way more fun to watch. The meet & greet was more than worth it the guys are super kind and personable. Everything went smoothly with the guest list. Each of the band members made the show unforgettable. Perttu played cello with his teeth and made funny faces, Mikko's drum solo was epic, Frankie killed it every time he sang, Paavo flirted with the audience, and Eicca impressed with amazing riffs and legendary windmill skillz. The only bummer was that I've never been overly fond of their backup bands. Art of Dying was no exception because I could not for the life of me tell what the lead singer was saying, or singing at all. The mic wasn't clear somehow which is really unfortunate because I think they might have been good if they adjusted their sound. Everything was drowned out by bass and it grated on the eardrums. They would do well to fix their sound it doesn't translate well. Another hot tip- Apocalyptica shows tend to start later than is typical (for example, doors at 8 show at 9, ends after midnight sort of thing) but you'll forget about how late it is, or if you weren't into the backup band as soon as they take the stage!
amazing looking forward to the next cd and show!!!!!!!!
Apocalyptica was by far an amazing musical experience. They came out with great energy that they sustained the whole show. I would definitely say that the intimate setting of the Odeon Events Centre was more preferable to a larger venue. They have a couple of songs that really showcased their musical talents with an Cello and when they played it's crazy to think you could hear people talking over their performance. But the crowd really responded to their music and the hush of awe that presumed over their playing was electric. I have never been to a rock concert and had such a reaction as to just listen at times.
These guys are so talented! I loved the mix of covers they did, but I especially appreciated their own music. I would go again in a heart beat. The drummer was absolutely fantastic, I couldn't believe the energy that guy has to play as hard as he did. Great show.
The music was just amazing. Very musical and excellent presentation. Not crazy about the Odeon as a venue, but with a band like this. I could see them anytime anyplace, sitting or standing. I drove in from Regina just to catch this awesome act !!!!
This is my favorite band and I couldnt have asked for a more incredible concert! The smaller venue was amazing and they rock!
An amazing concert! I took my wife for her birthday, and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. These guys do things with cellos that you wouldn't think could be done or dared to be done. I truly believe they are innovators of modern music. I just can't believe though that they aren't better known than what they are. Highly recommended concert!!!
Small venue filled with real fans. the fans and the band played off each other to end up with a fantastic concert. No disappointments here.
I don't even know where to start. There were so many moments where I found myself standing there in complete amazement at their level of talent. Their passion for their music is so apparent in their shows and they had great stage present. I have already told several people that when they come again, we will all be going,
Today i'm not feeling too wordy so I"ll sum it up to: I can't wait until they come again!!
Absolutely amazing-a must see-these guys killed it.
This was a great evening of metal, rock and classical elements. Cello playing like you've never seen it before.
The show was amazing, since then I have bought all their CDs and hope they swing back to Toronto on their next North American tour.
I went to see this event because of Dir en grey. Actually, I went to two of their shows. Really friendly guys too. And surprisingly, the opener (Evaline) and Apocalyptica were amazing too. They are all still on tour....go see them haha. I would totally buy all the other shows if I had the funds.
