  • April Wine should retire

by popag on 2010-01-11Deerfoot Inn & Casino - CalgaryRating: 2 out of 5

The lead singer is the ONLY original member of the group and the music especially the drummer, drowned out his voice which hasn't faired well over the years. Also, played very little of the hits that the band was noted for.

  • Hoping 2010 is better than it was ushered in!

Food: Was not the Steak and Lobster we were promised, instead it was very rare Prime Rib and Crab legs just like every Friday buffet there. Entertainment: Not bad once they got their act together. Service: Pretty bad when you get scolded by the server for not tipping for the one drink she served you when she already pocketed $75 from our table! I didn't know 7-up came with an additional price tag - she couldn't just wait for our table's next round obviously since we never saw her again!

Fantastic show and will see them them again in the near future. One of a few Canadian bands that can rock hard.

Great band- sounding as good as ever

  • Excellent concert. .

by Hockeygig on 2009-10-05Queen Elizabeth Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I would highly recommend seeing them. Very funny lead man. Good sense of humour. How many bands are still rockin after 40 years. Great theatre to see a concert. Sound was great. Full of energy. Don't know why they wouldn't play "And you won't dance with me". Played for two hours and no backup band.

  • April Wine still rocks!

by dugman on 2009-10-05Queen Elizabeth Theatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Good show. Haven't seen April Wine since some tour long ago with Loverboy. Shocked that Myles Goodwyn sounds so good. Glad they played some old stuff like Drop Your Guns. (First album I ever bought was April Wine on Record which still sounds great). Slightly different vocal on You Could Have Been a Lady that was kinda weird. Good on-stage banter with audience.

  • April Wine still ALIVE

April Wine are fabulous musicians. This concert was not what my friends and I expected, from a band with many hits. We felt that the lead singer talked too much between songs. Also, they did not play all their well known hits. Finally, although the encore was somewhat entertaining, we expected more of April Wine hits, not Beatles, Stones, etc. Overall, I was somewhat disappointed and would not recommend to see them until their setlist changes.

April Wine was a rockin good show ! There were young and old attending and everyone wanted to hear more April Wine at the end of the show. The venue is great for live rock music, a good seat and good sound system at Queen Elizabeth Theatre

  • april wine was so-so

    by mickey62 on 2009-10-04Queen Elizabeth Theatre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

The venue, Queen Elizabeth ,Theatre CNE grounds is nice. Nice bar, nice staff, catered food was nice touch. and very clean. The band changed their logo from the original which is a no-no for most of us who want a piece to take home. We bought nothing. The crowd coming to see April Wine knows and loves the 70's logo. Stay with it, sell more swag. The songs were great, but show got boring.... less talk.... more rock. All the talking made it seem low-key and it made the crowd stay in their seats....we were probably the only six people standing and dancing most of the show. It wasn't until their encores did the crowd get off their butts and move around so that makes for a dull time. Love the songs, they were made to make people swing and sway... kick it up a notch boys.

  • April Wine lives on!

by Tiggawigga on 2009-10-04Queen Elizabeth Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

For a great price, my teenage sons and I were able to attend the April Wine concert, and they could get exposure to yet another great legend in Canadian music while I got to relive a bit of history....the old bands still have what it takes!!

  • The Beat Stops Here

by Bluenose on 2009-10-04Queen Elizabeth Theatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

April wine always puts on a great show. With these smaller venues it allows Miles great sense of humor to come out. He is great at bringing the audience into the show and making them feel apart of the concert. The one thing I felt very noticeable was the departure of Mercer. Blair is a capable drummer but he does not have that booming presence of Mercer. When I was a teenager I would look forward to the huge stadium gigs April Wine would play. I still look forward to the shows with equal anticipation but I am really happy to see them in such intimit settings. With April Wine Enough is NEVER Enough!

  • April Wine were Fantastic

by DashEvan on 2009-10-04Queen Elizabeth Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

April Wine are STELLAR musicians. Awesome So many great songs. The venue was great. Really intimate. Ticket prices were excellent as was the parking price. Overall fantastic concert with talented, dedicated musicians.

  • april wine

by JayRrrr on 2009-10-04Queen Elizabeth Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The show was excellent ,my only complaint was it was so loud it almost sounded distorted ,I would have liked to hear some of the older 70's songs, but thats just me. The guitar playing was fabulous as was the drummer loved the solo. It just goes to show that Wine gets better with age ha! Thanks for a great evening.

  • Could have covered more....

by Studnick on 2009-10-04Queen Elizabeth Theatre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

territory, given the substantive array of great songs this band put out over the 70's and 80's. Although Miles developed a solid rapport with the audience, injecting humorous anecdotes and personal stories throughout, he could have done less talking and more playing. April Wine was famous for their power ballads and yet only "Just between You & Me" was covered. I have to admit though, the guitar playing was fantastic! The drummer's solo was excellent as well. The vocals were sometimes inaudible, with the instrumentation overpowering them.

  • great show!!!

awsome from start to finish, really great guitar playing.
