AQUILO IN CONCERT:

Sadness has never sounded sweeter than in the dream pop tunes of British duo Aquilo. The pair's beautifully melancholic music combines ambient elements with soulful vocals, and the result is an arresting sound that is at once minimal and completely engrossing. At their mesmerizing live shows Tom Higham and Ben Fletcher remain calm and focused, nailing lush vocal harmonies while layering live synth and guitar atmospherics on gauzy cuts like "You There" and "Losing You." BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Tom Higham and Ben Fletcher grew up across the street from each other in England's Lake District. They played in rivaling rock bands in high school, and independently began producing electronic music following graduation. After hearing each other's work they decided to write a song together, and things instantly clicked in the studio. They made their debut as Aquilo in 2013 with the tracks "You There" and "Calling Me," both of which racked up plays on Soundcloud and garnered airplay on BBC Radio 1. Their rise continued in 2014 with a self-titled EP and a high-profile set at Glastonbury that led to a deal with Island Records. Since then they've shown no signs of slowing, releasing three more EPs and a live album that showcases their captivating concerts. With their acclaimed single "Silhouette" generating big buzz in 2016 and a full-length debut album in the works, Aquilo has fans dying to experience their cathartic live shows in the flesh.
