Cloudy and needs polishing.
by Mimi on 2022-09-28Théâtre Corona - MontrealRating: 3 out of 5I’m a Ry X superfan, so I jumped on a ticket as soon as the show was announced. His music is sublime and I would love to see him live again, but….. ouf this show had a lot of issues. Some of which were and weren’t not in the control of the artist. Here are a few observations:
- Ticketmaster advised doors opened at 7pm, however ppl were let in until 8:15pm.
- show started late at 9:30pm
- During the opening act (which evidently was the headliners keyboardist) the technical issues surfaced immediately. Lighting not synced, sound mufflers and instruments not operating.
- Also an opportunity for the opening act to chose a better flow of songs, first song was tepid. But signer showed great care and kindness when he spotted a concert goer needing help. Overall 6/10
- while waiting for Ry X, room filled with smoke from fog machine causing an increase of temperature in the venue and completely obstructing the view of the stage, from the balcony.
- once the show started, technical problems persisted with instruments and sound, interrupting various songs.
- would like to comment on the artist’s performance but can’t as the stage was obstructed by fog (see previous points). I felt bad for the photographer documenting the event.
- unexpected surprises during the show include:
- a few “Karens” yelling for ppl to shut up.
- an encore that included a 1min group meditation.
- a pretty self absorbed moment by the artist cherry-picking questions from the crowd.
- felt like I was at a new aged spiritual conference, not what I paid for.
- overall 7/10
Again, the show had its quirks, but the music at its essence was sublime, would give another go if the opportunity arose.
