    ASIA

by BOZZO on 2011-05-09Casino Rama - Orillia

Unfortunately I was expecting the group to perform like it was 1983 again. The lead vocalist struggled to find the notes and the close ups looked like he wasn't enjoying the results. I was worried the drummer was going to have a heart attack and the lead guitarist looked 104 years old!! They left the stage a least 3 times over the course of the 1 1/2 hr performance (probably for naps) One bright note- their musical ability is still apparantly alive.

Enjoyed the show but it was somewhat "Dull". I think John Wetton, the lead vocalist, had some throat problems. He did his best but it was noticeable when his voice cracked a number of times. Too loud! Good show but it should have been better.

    ASIA still has it!

by DewkaRich on 2011-05-09Casino Rama - Orillia

Asia came out opening with a new song from Omega, and then mixed the past with some new stuff. They sound good now just as they did in the past.

    no energy

Too much of their new stuff - leading the show off with a song that the audience didn't know was a sign of things to come. only real highlight of the night was Steve Howe's two song acoustic guitar solo, coming just 4 songs into the set. Ironically this was more classical guitar, not Asia material. Overall the band looked like they were just putting in time, and the set wrapped up at about the 60 minute mark and then a one song encore.
