About
Austin FC History
Austin FC made history in January 2019 when it was announced as the first major professional sports league team to play in the Texas capital, the largest city in the United States yet to have a major league team at the time. The 2021 MLS season saw the MLS expand to 27 total teams with the introduction of Austin FC.
The “Verde and Black” have been led by head coach Josh Wolff since their inaugural season. In 2022, the team made their furthest MLS Cup playoff run to date by reaching the semifinals before falling to eventual champions Los Angeles FC. Meanwhile, Austin FC won back-to-back championships at the annual Copa Tejas Division 1 tournament in 2022 and 2023.
