About

Avril Lavigne is a multi-platinum singer-songwriter from Ontario, Canada. At just seventeen, she blazed a trail as one of the foremost voices of the pop-punk explosion of the early 2000s — thanks in large part to her 2002 smash debut album Let Go. Featuring Top 10 singles like “Complicated,” “Sk8er Boi” and “I’m With You,” the album went on to sell more than 16 million copies worldwide. Since then, Lavigne has gone on to release No. 1 albums like 2004’s Under My Skin and 2007’s The Best Damn Thing as well as 2011’s Goodbye Lullaby, 2013’s Avril Lavigne and 2019’s Head Above Water. In 2022, the eight-time Grammy nominee and bonafide princess of pop-punk helped herald the genre’s resurgence with her seventh studio album Love Sux

  • Opening band The New Cities impressed!!!

    by Champ19 on 2011-10-12Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5

I write this as a father of three 12,10 & 7 who we took to the concert as a special treat. The opening bands The Cab and The New Cities were fantastic. Avril.....she was nearly an hour late with no appologies (not that the crowd expected it) Stage was blah. Stage with their instruments and a curtin backdrop. Again double blah. Her performance was average at best but maybe it got better? because we left approx. halfway thru as we had a 2 hr ride home and school still to go to the next day. Again, please remember written by a guy with 3 kids and who has been to over a dozen concerts himself.

  • Avril... not so hot?

by Sixela on 2011-10-12Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5

We waited an hour for her to come onto stage. If something had gone wrong, it would have been nice for someone to come an announce it. Then when we DID come on, there was a lot of "filler"- she would walk off stage and the bad would play for minutes at a time with her no where to be seen. I don't understand her mentality on this way of performing. Her singing was mediocre, as she "spoke" a lot of the words. Overall, I'd give it a 5.5/10. Not a good rating, especially when most concerts rank up in the 8s & 9s/10

I was so happy that I purchased tickets for my daughters 13th birthday to see Avril Lavigne. However the concert started at 7:30pm and we stood watching, three no name bands (to save a spot) and she did not come on untill 10pm. When she came on, it was amazing! she is a great performer, but having been to many other concerts, I felt that an hour was not enough..and the wait was too long.

Event sucked. She came on late and disappeared after every song. The floor was very sticky/dirty.

  • Glad Avril finally showed up

by Shmoman on 2011-10-12Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5

2.5 hours of warm-up bands and waiting had Avril show up for an hour. She was great but how about an hour of warm-up and 2 hrs of you?

I thought the show was good, I think 3 opening acts is to many, I also think the hour or more from the last act to avril was way to much, most of the fans are school age , it went way to late, avril should think of these things, she has a great voice,

I was not satisfied! because I waited for 2 hours and Avril came at 9:45 instead of 7:30. and it ended at 11. So it was an hour performance by her but the ticket says the concert will start at 7:30! It's just like fooling audiences!

  • Avril was Great

    by 123jerry7 on 2011-10-12Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

The opening bands were amazing and soooo many. Avril was of course great as well. The only complaint that I have is that she took an hour to come out and then was only on stage for an hour and fifteen minutes. Felt like it could have been longer or at least the wait shorter.

  • Avril was impressive

    by Christina87 on 2011-10-12Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

Great opening acts. The Cab was excellent! Avril kept us waiting 45 mins but it was worth the wait. She was wonderful live! Great stage presence, it was amusing to watch her dance up there and have a lot of fun with the crowd. She has a great personality and aura. Her singing was top notch. Any rumors flying that she isn't the greatest live are a lie. She sang most of the classics from her first album and her singles from Goodbye Lullaby. I loved it!

  • My daughter had the time of her life!

by Eeve on 2011-10-12Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

I took my daughter for her 11th birthday (which is tomorrow, Oct 13, 2011). She will never forget this birthday for the rest of her life. Her first concert to her favorite artist. We actually gave the standing GA tickets we had to family and had VIP tickets. Even though they are not that far apart, the VIP was totally worth what we paid. It was a pretty long time of standing especially since we had to be there at 5:30pm to pick up our VIP tickets. The concert was over approximately 11:15pm. We also had been talking about moving closer to the front but could not because 2 women and their 2 girls had been keeping their VIP bags on the floor to save their 'spots' at the front. They were pretty rude about not letting my daughter sqweeze in to get closer. When Avril came to that side to reach out to fans, as much as my daughter tried, she was just inches away from reaching her. That would have made her night 200% better than it was. Regardless, it was still the best night of my daughters' life and we were able to take many pictures from almost all angles in the VIP section. If i can afford it for every concert we go to, we will definitely be going VIP. We were not squished at all, we had lots of room to move around.

  • Avril Lavigne

by Nixx on 2011-10-12Rexall Place - EdmontonRating: 1 out of 5

She was good from what we saw of her, she came out at 9:45pm, which was ridiculous, not impressed at all! Rexall was filled with kids from 5 to ? and this is how she treated her fans, by making them wait so long. My 7 year old was so tired at 10:30, so we had to leave and i noticed many others leaving as well, since the next day was a school day. Therefore i thought it was a waste of money - 3 children didn't get to see the whole concert because they were so tired. if sh would have started on time at 9 we would have made it through. Young children are the ones who love and admire her the most... thx Avril!

  • Avril L was great!

This was the third time seeing Avril with my daughter. She has a wonderful voice and encouraged the audience to sing along and make some noise. This was my son's first concert which he and his girlfriend thoroughly enjoyed.

  • Great show!

This is the second time I've seen Avril and yet again she didn't disappoint! Though things were very simple as far as stage set up and effects were concerned it was a good show. All three of Avril's openers were great! Evan Taubenfeld did a wonderful acoustic set and The Cab and The New Cities had great energy and vocals!

great oncor she played her best songs good opening bands

  • by Anonymous on 2011-10-08Interior Savings Centre - KamloopsRating: 1 out of 5

Well the girl can definately sing but you're definately better off buying a CD than going to a show. I dont know if she was stoned or just plain bored but she had zero stage presence and just walked from one side to the next. You get more action from a potato. Like I said the girl sure can sing but after all these years sure cant put on a show. I sat on the floor against the wall trying to stay awake. Now the opening acts rocked..... Evan T was fantastic and I think it was the City stole the show. I would pay to go see the pre-show anytime......wouldn't go see Avril again for all the free tickets in the world!!

  • Disappointing

by Jelly6 on 2011-10-08Prince George CN Centre - Prince GeorgeRating: 1 out of 5

I took my kids to see the show and what a disappointment! She didn't come on until 9:30 and kept leaving the stage between songs. Considering the crowd was mostly kids under 15, she added in a lot of swearing into her songs that don't normally have swearing. Swearing isn't a huge deal but I think she went a little over the top! The show lasted just under an hour and she seemed like she was really bored and wanted to be done. Considering she is huge in other parts of the world, its too bad she doesn't try harder for her home country. My kids were so excited to see her live but by the end of it they were bored and too tired and just wanted to go. I will never go see her again or buy any of her music.
