Avril Lavigne is a multi-platinum singer-songwriter from Ontario, Canada. At just seventeen, she blazed a trail as one of the foremost voices of the pop-punk explosion of the early 2000s — thanks in large part to her 2002 smash debut album Let Go. Featuring Top 10 singles like “Complicated,” “Sk8er Boi” and “I’m With You,” the album went on to sell more than 16 million copies worldwide. Since then, Lavigne has gone on to release No. 1 albums like 2004’s Under My Skin and 2007’s The Best Damn Thing as well as 2011’s Goodbye Lullaby, 2013’s Avril Lavigne and 2019’s Head Above Water. In 2022, the eight-time Grammy nominee and bonafide princess of pop-punk helped herald the genre’s resurgence with her seventh studio album Love Sux.

wasnt what i wanted for 200 bucks she was horrible i stayed forevan t and the new cities though
Concert should have been held in the Corral. She was the only one that could carry a tune.
Avril needs to come on to the stage sooner then 9:20pm?? What does she expect from her fans too wait for her 1 hour and 45 mins then she sings 12 songs?? She went off the stage alot then you wait for her to appear. I must say when I went to book the event it was full once 8:45 approach the stands were bare??To me that is a huge indication of what the fans where thinking. Poor .You need to give your fans your all. Two Cd's and you play 12 songs? I am very disappointed in her show. I would not see her again due too her effort for NOT ROCKIN OUR WORLD!!!
This is the third time I've seen Avril in Prince George and she was just as amazing as ever. Avril is an international pop superstar for a reason and deserves all the success she has now and will have in the future. One of Canada's finest, the end
After listening to the first two less than semi~talented openers, it was a welcome relief to hear the New Cities on stage. But the brutal lull between their exit, the re-set of the stage and Avril finally starting her show was total bs. A very talented songstress, no doubt. Loved her set and the encore was really great. Sorry Avril, but I won't be buying a ticket for your next show~ your fans are who keep you famous and they deserve much more than what your show delivered.
Avril put on a good show. The music was loud, sometimes it was hard to hear her voice. I went with my daughter and we had fun.
Avril is an amazing singer! She is extremely talented and I had a wonderful time.i recommend this to everybody! AVRIL LAVIGNE ROCKS!!!!!
well where to start i thought that Avril swore too much for the young croud that was there seen alot of very young girls with their moms and i didn't think it was nice and i don't think Avrils mom who was in the crowd thought it was very nice... anyway her opening bands were pretty good i thought and was surprized too see that the opening acts had been around for awhile and i knew of their music as well bonus bang for my buck i left before the concert was over for i just didn't feel the concert vibe with Avrils show.
There is no doubt that Avril Lavigne is a fantastic musician/songwriter/singer, but there was something lacking on her Black Star tour that made for a bit of a disappointing show. From my experience at Avril's previous tour, The Best Damn Thing Tour, I can honestly say that this show was not very good for a few reasons. The first being that I had purchased VIP tickets which from previous experiences meant arriving early, crowd free merchandise shopping, food provided and a meet and greet with Avril herself. This time however, we arrived 4 hours before her show, had a crowd free merchandise shopping window of 30 mins and then were shown to our standing area for the show. On the stage was a chair and microphone I thought surely Avril would make an appearance to her "little Black Stars" to say a big thank you, but to no avail. For the price of $150, I thought there would be more than what we got. Regardless, we waited for another 2 and a half hours before Avril finally appeared on stage. There were no jumbo video screens depicting what was going on on stage and if I hadn't been at the very front, I would have missed a lot. Avril herself did not seems to be into the performance as she walked around the stage and made feeble attempts to get the crowd screaming. Compared to The Best Damn Thing tour where she used the whole big stage, had several costume changes, played the piano, drums and guitar as well as danced with back up dancers, the Black Star tour is a much sleepier rendition of a few songs. Not only did Avril not play most of her new CD, she didn't do a lot of her old songs either. She did manage to leave the stage several times for a good 5 mins as her band played some instrumentals of her songs. One would think the breaks would be an understandable costume change, however when Avril returned on stage, she was still wearing the same outfit and seemed to leave for no apparent reason. There was very little crowd interaction and the show itself was only an hour in length. According to some other fans who had seen her Edmonton show, we were "treated" with an extra two more songs during the encore to bring the whole set to about an hour and a half. Her last show was 2 hours and a half. After all was said and done, feeling a little let down, I ventured outside near the tour buses, where time after time Avril has always come out and greeted her fans, in hopes of at least getting a hello. After waiting an hour and 15 mins passed the show end, she did not come out to greet her fans. It was disappointing to say the least. Avril CAN sing and she can sing really well, but there was something really lacking from this show. It didn't leave me feeling I had got my money's worth. I think Avril can do better and should have played in a smaller venue rather than a rock stage if she wasn't going to rock. I hope her show gets better.
Great concert. I read some bad reviews on here so I was prepared to be disappointed in the whole show. On the contrary It was very good. I don't know what some of the other reviewers were looking for in an Avril concert but it was as I expected. There was lass foul language than I expected which was nice as a lot of the audience were very young. Her opening bands were all good. Evan T, The Cab and The New Cities were all upbeat and played great sets. They also all came up to the Merch afterwards to pose for pics and sign autographs. My kid thought this was great! If you are looking for a Katy Perryesque high budget, lights and smoke show, Avril is not for you, but if you are going to listen to a Canadian entertainer whose music you like, she is well worth the money. I'd go see her again. That girl has a tremendous voice on her. She could have sang a longer set, as she wasn't out for very long but, overall a good show.
This is the 4th time I have seen her in Calgary. Her stage presence is getting better as are her vocals. The band is pretty tight. She is no Katy Perry, or Ke$ha or Taylor Swift, so to compare her to them is pointless. I think the saddledome is probably too large of a venue for her when she comes back to calgary, I'd like to see her at the Jubilee or even the Jack Singer with the Orchestra. I found the 3 opening acts to be ok, nothing that I will remember next month though.
Had an awesome time at the concert and my daughter was really excited to know that the group opening was one of her favorites.
I saw her about 7 years ago in Kelowna and her show was a lot of fun!!! This time around she looked bored, didn't work the crowd, she kept leaving the stage- needless to say we left early and wouldn't go again..
Took my teenaged kids and their friends. Enjoyed the concert and the other artistes as well. Only drawback, was the fact that the tickets we bought for "FLOOR" did not indicate that this was "STANDING ONLY", so was surprised when I reached and found out that there were no seats. Plus I had bought tickets for the first row but with no seats that meant we had to stand in the back.
This is my second one with her and I love her every time she's here. She sang lots of songs and sang ones from previous albums.
Was an overall good concert, but not much to watch on stage.
She did a great job and can still sing as always. She started a little late but was still a great show!
Avril has morphed well into an older version of her skaterteen streetsinger girl rather than trying to reinvent herself . Her voice is more mature and she can belt out her hits with power and energy. She isn't using the lonely waif image anymore and the audience was bereft of black eye-linered boi-losers and boi-seekers. She is now trying to connect to the preps in the audience with more of a big sister/outreach worker approach. It seems to work as the crowd were rapturous for most of the evening and willing to belt out her lyrics with minimal prompting. It was a bit like a Neil Diamond concert only with more Wiggles-esque plastic glow-stars waving about. A very energetic band took advantage of some downtime for costume adjustments to give us some show-piece instrumental licks. The stage was draped in velvet curtains with nary a rip or tear in sight.
The concert was excellent! Great stage, great sound and worth every penny. Very few breaks and I had great seats. Recommend highly
The music was really good. No problems there. Avril needs to improve the show overall with screens and special effects or something interesting. Screens are a must. No artist should perform without them in a venue the size of Rexall. If I was in the nosebleeder seats or in the back I would have been upset. So overall the music was good but a boring show. Can't say I'd go to see her again. Improve your show Avril! You are a big star!
