    Authentic

by Trick to happy on 2023-11-01Massey Hall - Toronto

Afie and his band have such an authentic and relatable feel to them. I loved the interaction with the audience and the little one liners he used throughout the show. The sound at Massey Hall was incredible. The show felt intimate and real. I look forward to more love Bahamas shows.

Great Show - Poor Sound Mix in Front Rows at NAC

by JD Saint on 2021-12-17National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Really like Bahamas and purchased what we thought were great seats in the fourth row. Unfortunately, I believe these seats are situated in what would normally be the orchestra section for an NAC orchestra show. First misgivings were raised during the Ariel Posen opening act when we literally could not understand what he was singing. Never having seen him before, we thought maybe it was just the way he sings (like Bob Dylan on an average/off night). Then we noticed that the bank of speakers set up to the right and left of the stage were physically located behind us and were aimed at the audience in front of the orchestra section...but behind those patrons located in seating within the orchestra section. Unfortunately, the same sound mix continued for the Bahamas show with patrons in the front rows straining to isolate vocals and other instruments using the aural equivaent of peripheral vision with sound located way off to your left or right instead of a balanced mix emanating from in front of you. It was frustrating for my wife and I...who are quite familiar with Bahamas music....but doubly frustrating for my brother and sister-in-law who are not familiar with Bahamas musc and were unable to discern most of the lyrics to most of the songs. The lesson I learned was to purchase middle tickets in, say, row 20 and beyond to benefit from a more balanced mix consistentin with what the technicians at the mixing board are hearing. Beyond that, perhaps the NAC could do something like adding a compact bank of speakers that are aimed at the patrons immediately in front of the band and not rely on outlying, spatially separated speakers that neglect the patrons who believe that they've purchased the best seats in the house.

    Love Ariel, hate the balcony

by RKF on 2021-12-13ThÊâtre Corona - Montreal

I was there for Ariel Posen which is a good thing because I didn't have to sit through a full show in the Corona balcony which is about as cramped as a London phone booth. Was out first show since pandemic and there was zero distanciation which was a bit unnerving, couple that with zero space meant I was glad to leave after 45 minutes. I will never buy a seat on the balcony every again. Sound wise, on the floor it was probably ok but upstairs was awful, vocals had way too much bass and made everything boomy. I love the Corona but on the floor only. Cheers

by Lydboss on 2021-12-06Meridian Hall - Toronto

Bahamas is always a great show! This is my 3rd time seeing Afie and the band and they just get keep getting better and better. It is truly a genuine music experience. Easy to listen to, with breathtaking vocals by Felicity Williams, I will always find myself looking to come back to a Bahamas show.

    Positive Vibes

    by M. B. on 2021-12-06Meridian Hall - Toronto

This was a lot of fun and the music was great! There aren't too many artists that will get me to a show on a school night, but Afie Jurvanen is definitely one of those rare folk. His backing band was great and the female vocalist was awesome!

by Milli on 2021-12-04Meridian Hall - Toronto

My first solo concert ever, and such a wonderful experience. The vocals were beautiful, very magical harmonies between the singers. Musicians were a lovely mesh of talented people. Also really enjoyed how personable and funny he was between songs. Would recommend!

I have been a fan of Bahamas for a few years but had not seen him perform live at a concert. This was a big treat for me. Bahamas performance was super and he was having fun and it was a treat for him as well because he had never performed at the Meridian which is our best Concert Hall so Congratulations Bahamas. You're a star now if you weren't before. Love your voice!

    Couldn't attend

by Bluemortimer on 2021-12-04Meridian Hall - Toronto

First off, Bahamas is amazing. We've seen them (him) 5 times already. We didn't get to attend this show because we were around my nephew who was exposed to COVID a day before the concert. We decide it was best not to risk other concert goers incase we picked up the virus. We were VERY disappointed that Ticketmaster, nor the promoter, nor the venue had a refund policy in place for such occurences. We tried to sell our tickets, but opening up a batch of them for sale the day before, totally screwed us. We were unable to sell them, even below face value. So not only did we miss seeing one of our fave artists in an amazing venue, we lost out on $120. We tested negative for the virus. So had we been selfish assholes, we should've just attended. All parties involved should be ashamed of not having something in place to help deter those who are exposed to the virus from attending these shows.

    Could not have been better

by BL on 2021-12-04Meridian Hall - Toronto

Ariel and Bahamas both absolutely crushed their performances and the Meridian Hall staff and organizers deserve enormous praise for running the smoothest and most enjoyable concert experience in arguably my whole life. I was expecting a nightmare entry with covid precautions but the way everything was planned prevented significant bottlenecks and ensured easy entry. Amazing job by all involved!!

    Incredible first post-Covid show!

by Lori E. on 2021-12-04Meridian Hall - Toronto

Bahamas last night was unbelievable! I couldn’t have picked a better band for my reentry into live music after Covid! The band was so tight, harmonized beautifully, and looked like they were having so much fun.
