Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre is a must see. I hope they come back to Vancouver soon and not wait another 20 years to come back. The dancing was superb and so beautiful it brought tears to my eyes. Revelations is wonderful.

    Ailey Rocks!

by Janko on 2011-03-20Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

The best export America has. Stunning, beautiful, inspiring dance that will make you cry. If your heart doesn't open during this performance, you don't have one.

The piece 'The Hunt' is one of the best things I've ever seen on stage; everything 'worked' - the choreography, the dancers, the costumes, the music. Otherwise, the dance company needs to update its costumes; when i go to a dance performance, I expect to see legs, which in this event were almost completely covered by costumes that are too much the same and somewhat outdated. Still, Alvin Ailey Dance is a must-see for anyone who loves dance.

    So-so!

by Janella on 2011-02-21Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

I was not impresed, I havent seen them (ballet BC) for a wile and i thought they improved but it is "same old", lots of running and then same movements all over again. They need coreographer who will wake them up from the winter dreem!!! They are technicly very good otherwise, they need new movements, they need challange!

    Volo was truly inspirational

Ballet B.C. Rocks!!! They are reinvented, from the eloquent, passionate Emily Molnar at the helm, to the international roster of guest choreographers, they are world class!!! Loved the first piece with it's beautiful piano and wonderful layers to the performance, 2nd performance was magical with the 2 guest artists, not so wild about the 3rd piece and thought the 4th piece was brilliant. Great set development on the 4th with the total stage exposed at the beginning.

    A little disappointing

by lpoollady on 2011-01-15Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Was expecting more, the costumes were very pretty, accept for the Arabian dancers and the Russian dancers. Arabian male dancers appeared to be dancing in their underwear! Also the choreography for both of these sets oi dancers was weak. Have seen better in previous Nutrcracker performances.

Very good acting, nice to see the children come back in act 2. Amazing costumes and stage background. The ballet was very nice. Last time we went we saw Moscow ballet, fun to compare dance styles. Enjoyed very much.

    Congrats to the Alberta Ballet

by Wdaniel on 2011-01-02Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

As an avid Nutcracker ballet viewer, this was my first time to see the Alberta Ballet. Excellent costumes, colourful, humorous, and wonderful dancers and dancing. Some new twists to the classic ballet. Keep up the great work.
