    Ballet Jorgen Nutcracker

by Sandy on 2022-12-06FirstOntario Concert Hall - Hamilton

Loved the performance, especially the fact that it had a Canadian/Indigenous theme. The principal dancers were amazing and the younger performers did an excellent job also.

    Creative Storytelling

by Sue on 2022-09-25Club Regent Event Centre - Winnipeg

What a phenomenal group of dancers! The artistic storytelling of Anne of Green Gables was creative, fun, and lighthearted. Highly recommended for older and younger audiences alike with a lovely musical score. I wouldn't hesitate to see any of their performances. Well done!

Absolutely amazing Anne of Green Gables

by Barbie on 2022-09-24Club Regent Event Centre - Winnipeg

Fabulous costumes! Fantastic dancers! The minute the curtain went up our eyes enjoyed the beauty and we were absolutely thrilled to be entertained by these talented artists! My granddaughter and I read the book together to prepare for our experience, the story was revealed perfectly and accurately. The ballet brought out every emotion, joy, happiness, despair, suspense, and when Matthew died, Marilla’s grief was portrayed so intensely that my 11 year old granddaughter was not just brought to tears but was sobbing 😭 I cannot state strongly enough how much we enjoyed this production!

    No mask enforcement, ok show

by M on 2021-12-11FirstOntario Concert Hall - Hamilton

The venue supposedly has a mask policy in place but there was no enforcement whatsoever and lots of people in the audience sat unmasked during the entire performance. Just got an exposure alert, so... For the ticket price I would have expected a live orchestra and, honestly, a more professional performance and production. Parts were very good and others pretty amateurish. Sound quality wasn't great. The dancers did their best but it wasn't what I'd expected.

Terrible app. Didnt think would get in if i couldnt get it working. Took me 20 minutes. Finally got on line thru ticketmaster app. Just terrible for a company & name as big big as yours. Loved the nutcracker show though.

    excellent

by Deb on 2021-12-07FirstOntario Concert Hall - Hamilton

At the beginning of the performance it was explained what we would see. there was humor and the charactors we perfect in their dancing. We enjoyed every minute of the show. I have to say that it has been years since I have been to a ballet as I used to be a ballerina in my youth. We thoroughly enjoyed this performance everyone was just perfect. Hopefully you will come back next year and we look forward to that so we can come and see the show again next year. Thank you for a wonderful show.

    Enjoyed the performance

by Dale on 2021-12-07FirstOntario Concert Hall - Hamilton

Entry to the venue went smoothly ... had my tickets in my phone's wallet and proof of vax with ID ready ... it was quicker than I expected. I loved the Group of Seven back drops and the northern Ontario setting was different but I enjoyed the characters and woodland creatures. What I didn't enjoy was sitting in a theatre for the first time in 2 years assuming that everyone would be masked when that definitely wasn't the case. It seems that holding onto a drink or a box of popcorn is your 'ticket' to not wearing a mask, even when you're not actually eating or drinking. About half the audience did this, removing their mask as soon as they sat down and not replacing it until the performance was over. The management must have known that this would happen but the rules weren't enforced. Food and drink should not have been allowed in the seating area. I won't be attending any more shows at this venue during the pandemic.

    Nutcracker Eh!

by Shar on 2021-12-07FirstOntario Concert Hall - Hamilton

My first ballet and I didn’t know what to expect. I loved it! The music was beautiful and the Canadian version wonderful. I loved that you used The Group of Seven paintings as your background. My favourite artwork ever! The dancers were amazing! I was very amazed at how talented the younger performers were especially the dragonflies. The lead dancers were wonderful! A very enjoyable performance. Thank all of you for sharing your talent!

    Jorgen ballet

by Kate on 2021-12-07FirstOntario Concert Hall - Hamilton

The dancing and interpretation of the story was very well done. The costumes were good. However, my daughter and I were very disappointed with the interpretation of the classic Nut Cracker story. It's a classic, in my opinion, classics shouldn't be altered to the degree of this proportion.

    all the dancing was wondering

by Mrs_lambie on 2019-12-10FirstOntario Concert Hall (Formerly Hamilton Place) - Hamilton

really appreciated that the program gave a general outline of the story with it being a "Canadian adaption" of the original. It was very helpful with our grandchildren's understanding and following the program. It was truly lovely.

    The Nuts and a Cracker

by tiron on 2013-12-28Ballet Jorgen - Kitchener

This performance has nothing to do with the original ballet by Tchaikovsky. This is a kindergarten on stage! Do not waste your money! I stayed for Act I only… During first 55 minutes the kids ran around the stage (they were not dancing!!!) and pretended to follow the script. The performance was extremely unprofessional. There was no orchestra… the music was recorded. This is an insult to the Canadian culture!
