  • Big sugar, big fun!

by Bumps on 2023-01-03River Cree Resort & Casino - EnochRating: 5 out of 5

Great show in a very fun venue! Amazing band playing many if old favourites. Seating was a little tight. The venue is fun and everyone was chill!

  • Unreal show!!!

by Clay on 2023-01-03River Cree Resort & Casino - EnochRating: 5 out of 5

Big Sugar put on an unbelievable show, a great way to end off the year. Everytime I see them they get better. Gordie is a master on whichever guitar he's playing. It's almost as enjoyable to watch as it is to listen. And Ben and Root tied it all together with a wicked performance. Five big stars!!!! Can't wait until the next time

Sound was horrible. Left early as did numerous other people.

  • Big Sugar needs to cone back again!

I have been to many Big Sugar shows and this was one of the best! Gordie sounded great and the new young band mates were keeping up. They also had great merchandise for fans to buy.

Big Sugar is spectacular! Such a great show with so much talent.

  • Great Big Sugar show at The Commodore with all of the hits

by hammondking on 2022-07-26Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Post-Covid, Big Sugar is back to its former 3-piece configuration, but the big sound is still there. They played a 2-hour show with all of the hits from Groundhog Day, Ride like Hell and I'm a Ram all the way to Little Bit a Alright and The Better it Gets, with stops at The Scene, Dear Mr Fantasy, La Stralla, Turn the Lights On and Red Rover along the way. Topped off with their iconic version of O Canada at the end with Gordie showing off the flag on the back of "Big Red". Sound was great, band was great, everything I could have hoped for.

The only thing was that the sound for vocals could have been cleaner. Couldn't really here what was being said. Ive seen blackberry smoke here abd their sound was so crisp and perfect.

  • Awesome show as always

by Stonegoddess on 2022-07-26Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Big Sugar is always so good! Excellent music and so much fun. Particularly in The Commodore which in my opinion is Vancouver's best small venue. Every single person that works there is fantastic and do everything to make sure people have a good time. Big Sugar blew the roof of as usual. So loud (ear plugs are a must) but so good. We go see them every time there are near us as it's a guaranteed kick ass show. Also love that they always bring excellent bands with them to either open for them or play with them. Amazing.

  • Live band!

by Suz on 2022-07-26Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Great to see a live band again in a smaller venue. BF didnt enjoy sound but still had fun!

  • No GOOD food

by Hungry couple on 2022-07-26Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 1 out of 5

We showed up and asked if there was food inside. We were told yes. So we go in to find limited selection and not the normal menu as it was premade and served immediately... We ordered. Less than desirable. Then the opening band was way too loud for even the most avid concert goer. We ended up leaving during the opening act. What really iced the cake was we ordered two double Long Island ice teas and they were too sugary. I asked for a new drink and felt like I was laughed at. The drink was seriously gross. We were hungry for a nice meal. So between everything we left the venue. It’s sad because it ruined our night. We are parents are hardly get out, we came from 2.5 hours away and had a hotel and everything. Please tell your front door crew to be upfront about the food situation because we were told we weren’t allowed to come back in If we left. Really? We are jailed once we come to the event? Why hire door people if they don’t want to do their job?

  • Worst show I have ever been to

by Dissapointed on 2022-07-26Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 1 out of 5

The opening band was just a bunch of noise. Couldn't understand the singer, sound was muddy. It will be a long while before I go to the Commodore again.

  • Big Sugar

by Chris on 2022-07-25Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

Loved the show and the venue but we needed ear plugs to avoid permanent hearing damage. Mr. Chill is a not part of the band any more and that leaves a big hole, which is why maybe they did not do "digging a hole" (no pun intended). The dynamic with Gordie Johnson and Mr. Chill was a big part of the charm of Big Sugar, in my view. Still they should still have done "digging a hole big" even without Mr. Chill. Still glad I went and enjoyed what they did do, even if it was too loud. I guess too loud is kind of their thing, which is a pretty dumb thing to be about if you ask me. Probably would not go again without a harmonica player to take Mr. Chills place. Would make sure I had hearing protection.

  • Big Sugar great

by Musicfan on 2022-07-25Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome concert. Big Sugar was great. The commodore beer prices suck though. $10 for a beer?? Ripoff.

  • Big Sugar

Too loud and distorted. They did not take advantage of the intimate venue. Put on an arena concert at a small venue.

    by c. b. on 2019-11-12Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

Event said 9:30 start, showed up at 9:20 and had missed half the opener's set. Really bummed me out, ended up leaving early. Show quality was fine.

  • Had a great time

Big Sugar was great... Although it was so hot in the venue and didn't care for the beer in cans!!!

  • Opening act! The static shift

What a band ! The static shift was spectacular. The return of the good old rock and roll ! Refreshing !

  • Big Sugar did not dissapoint

by Pootz on 2018-10-23Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Absolutely love seeing acts in the Commodore Ballroom; amazing venue. Big Sugar was great; played over 2 hours without stopping, even brought local guy Colin James out to play a few songs! Nice surprise. Opening act was great too. Only complaint? Tickets stated show at 8PM, opening act didn't start until 9:30: would have been nice to know we didn't need to be there for 8:00.
