BIG WRECK IN CONCERT:

Beloved hard rockers Big Wreck have been bringing the ruckus since 1994, with no signs of slowing down. The band possesses a dynamic sound that can shift from hard rock to anthemic post-grunge all while still staying true to their unique style. At their live shows the band tears through popular tunes like "The Oaf (My Luck Is Wasted)" and the No. 1 smash hit "Albatross" alongside material from 2014's Ghosts with reckless abandon. With 20 years of touring experience under their belt, Big Wreck knows how to get ticket buyers headbanging at their rocking live sets.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Boston-based rock outfit Big Wreck formed in 1994 after the members met at the Berklee College of Music. They started to jam together and perform local shows near campus, eventually attracting attention from execs at Atlantic Records. They signed with the label and released their 1997 debut In Loving Memory Of..., which featured three Top 10 hits on the Canadian Alternative chart and a Top 10 on the US Mainstream Rock chart. Their widespread popularity throughout the Great White North -- where lead singer Ian Thornley grew up -- spawned several headlining tours in support of their breakout album. They followed up with 2001's The Pleasure and the Greed -- a popular album that featured three radio-friendly hits and continued to earn the band major acclaim. Since then they've released two more Top 10 albums including 2014's Ghosts and have proven themselves as mainstays within the rock genre. Fans can experience Big Wreck’s hit-filled catalog on full display whenever they take the stage on their high-octane tours.

Big Wreck blew the roof off!!!

by celticknot on 2012-12-03Hamilton Place Theatre - Hamilton

I absolutely love attending concerts in Hamilton. Cheaper parking. Staff at the venues are generally much more helpful. Not a bad drive from where I live. Anyhow, Theory of a Deadman put on a great show. They are always a lot of fun live and this was no exception. Loved their unplugged set and cover of Alice in Chains. Very cool. Big Wreck...man oh man. They were amazing. Loud, lots of energy. Ian Thornley's voice was huge!! When the show was over I was left feeling..."oh not yet!!!" Fantastic job by both bands. So glad I went.

    The Concert was Great

by Glad7 on 2012-12-02Hamilton Place Theatre - Hamilton

The concert was good but Hamilton Place was the wrong venue. The sound was bouncing off the walls. The songs were muffled. A rock concert should be played to Copps Coliseum

I have never been to a concert when they start on time, this was an awsome bonus to the show because I had to work at 9 the next morning. Great show, would see both bands again.

    Great talent - disappointing crowd!

Big Wreck put on a great show. So did Theory but there was no waking up the crowd. Hamilton was a disappointment.

    TOAD great, Big Wreck Boring

by Chs44d on 2012-12-01Hamilton Place Theatre - Hamilton

For up front disclosure I bought tickets to this show to see Theory of a Deadman as I've always enjoyed their music but never seen them live. I have seen Big Wreck live but this was 12 years ago. The venue of Hamilton Place is awesome for a concert. The sound would go right through you as it should at a rock concert! Theory was great. Interacted with the crowd on multiple occasions. Played a great set and for 75 minutes which was a great surprise. Big Wreck just seemed old, which tends to happen obviously. I stayed for half their set and then left as I wasn't into it. All in all, theory was awesome and worth the price of admission. The venue was great and the sound was nice and loud.

    LOUD!!!!

by Anonymous on 2012-12-01Hamilton Place Theatre - Hamilton

Loved the concert! Big Wreck was awesome. Ian Thornley hasnt lost a step. They were loud as expected and his voice could still overcome the guitar. Theory of a Deadman was good, very loud as well, but Tyler Connollys voice had trouble at times duelling with their guitar riffs.

    Big Wreck was Awesome Live!

by JSJD on 2012-12-01Hamilton Place Theatre - Hamilton

Theory of a Deadman was a perfect, entertaining opener. They sure love to throw their guitar picks. Big Wreck was even better than expected. The played the first 7 songs of the Albatross Album which were unbelievable. Best song without a doubt was "That Song". Gave me shivers it was so good!

    Big Wreck was awesome

by RockinGerry on 2012-11-29CE Centre - Ottawa

I am a die hard TOADM fan! It just seemed that TOADM was not really into the show. Also Tyler's voice seemed strained as he was having difficulty staying in the original octave for parts of songs ;-( The sound was dialed in a little heavy on the base. That all being said, it was great to see them live ...for the 4th time ! Big Wreck put on a great show and the sound was dialed in perfect!

    Big Wreck Killed!!!!

    by Jenny66 on 2012-11-28Massey Hall - Toronto

This was the first time I sawe Big Wreck live and it won't be my last. Amazing is just too mild a word. The musicanship of all members of this band is mind blowing and I would love to just see them next time. Theory of a Deadman was fine, but their sound check let them down. Could not hear the vocals, just a wall of sound. Too bad as they are a good band.

    Solid Performance

by MeandMyLova on 2012-11-27CE Centre - Ottawa

Second time I've taken in Big Wreck this year. Definitely enjoyed the show. I like Ian Thornely's cool front man work, throaty-rock lyrics and interesting solos. Love the 3 guitars sound too ... lots of overlays and interesting nuances. One of the best things about this band is being up front watching their musician-ship. Brian Doherty is a smoothy on the fret board ! Couple draw backs: 1. Would have liked them to have played "Control" ... :[ Next time I hope. 2. CE Centre venue was not great - would like to see them in a venue with better accoustics so the vocals are more discernable. Overall good performance and plan to go back and see them when they are in or close to Ottawa.

    Big Wreck 10/10!

by RandyOttawa on 2012-11-27CE Centre - Ottawa

Theory of a Deadman was very good, Big Wreck was outstanding! Ian Thornley is an amazing talent. I've always wanted to see them live, and now I'm mad I waited so long. Bravo Big Wreck! The venue was not the best (think airplane hangar), but sound quality was actually pretty good.

Theory of a Dead Man and Big Wreck

by Deeder on 2012-11-26CE Centre - Ottawa

This concert was amazing. Both bands perform great live. I liked how they involve the crowd and talk to us, just to get us pumped. Both bands played awesome songs, and everything was just perfect. Definitely going to see them again when they come around!

Solid show, not spectacular, by Big Wreck & Theory

    by Bags8888 on 2012-11-26CE Centre - Ottawa

The CE Centre is too much of an airplane hanger. Show's sets were fine, but short. A good show overall, but better if they were in a more solid venue.

Big wreck and theory of a dead man

    by Becks1234 on 2012-11-26CE Centre - Ottawa

The concert was sweet and personal!!! Ian thornley is an amazing musician and we loved seeing him in person. He is just as amazing live as he is on cd. We got front row seats!!!! Right against the gate!!! Theory of a deadman was shockingly good. And I say that because I went only anticipating seeing big wreck. I enjoyed their music and the way they worked the stage, they were awesome. Tyler sat and talked to the crowd, it was a nice personal touch. Thank you theory of a dead man and Ian thornley for a great night we will never forget!!!

    BIG WRECK ROCKED !

by Chart on 2012-11-26CE Centre - Ottawa

This concert was well worth $50 dollars , just for Big Wreck . As for T.O.A.D. , I wasn't too impressed , their sound was kind of horrible , but getting back to Ian Thornley and his musicians ; incredible show ! They played a great variety of songs and they all sounded very crisp .
