BILL COSBY ON TOUR:

Legendary family funnyman Bill Cosby has been making America laugh for over half a century, proving that clean, wholesome humor still has a welcome place in today's stand-up circuit. From his days as Jell-O's spokesman to his role on the eponymous Cosby Show, his folksy demeanor and all-inclusive comedy have made him a national treasure, with a fanbase that spans generations. Hot on the heels of 2013'S Bill Cosby: Far From Finished — his first TV standup special in 30 years — Cosby is once again on tour, treating audiences around the country to his signature brand of family-friendly comedy.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Cosby  was a class clown as a young student, but he was also a high achiever, acting as captain of the baseball team and class president. After a demanding work schedule led him to drop out of school, he joined the Navy, continuing to hone his comedic talent while shooting  the breeze with fellow servicemen. Soon after his time in the service, Cosby began performing at clubs around the country, ultimately landing a pivotal spot on NBC's Tonight Show. That appearance gained him the exposure he needed to break into acting, paving the way for his Emmy-nominated role on the show I Spy and his popular Saturday morning cartoon Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids. His biggest success, however, was the era-defining Cosby Show, which dominated airwaves in the '80s as the most popular TV show in the country for five straight seasons. In addition to numerous acclaimed acting roles, Cosby has continued to perform and record stand-up over the years, racking up a whopping nine Grammys for his comedy albums and cementing his place among the giants of American comedy.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Enjoyed 2hours of laughs! He combined some old material with new material and the result was great laughs. It was a pleasure to experience good clean fun --- no profanity or descriptive sexual encounters used to get a cheap laugh."

"Still he can captivate an audience for 2 1/2 hours while sitting in his chair just telling us hilarious stories as if he was in our living room, just making us laugh our heads off!"

"Cosby is a master. He spoke for 2.5 hours without a note or a prompt. He just told funny story after funny story."

    Worth every penny!

by ROTFLMBO on 2009-11-03Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Bill Cosby comes across as a very genuine man. He makes us look at ourselves and laugh at our idiosyncracies as a human race. The opening acts (5 teens breaking into the stand-up comedy world) were all very, very good. The future of comedy looks bright.

    LOL? NOT REALLY

by TOUGHGUY on 2009-11-03Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I HAVE NEVER SEEN BILL COSBY "LIVE" BEFORE AND WHAT i HAVE SEEN OF HIS WORK DREW ME TO GO TO THIS SHOW. THE FIRST HALF OF THE SHOW CONSISTED OF EXTOLLING THE MERITS OF FOOTHILLS ACADEMY, WITH WHICH I WAS VERY IMPRESSED, AND UNDERLINED THE PURPOSE OF THE EVENING AS A FUNDRAISER FOR THE SCHOOL. THAT WAS FINE...NOT FUNNY. THERE WERE FIVE KIDS WHO HAD AN INTEREST IN DOING STANDUP COMEDY AND IN MY OPINION, AT LEAST THREE OF THEM SHOULD STAY IN SCHOOL AND ONE OF THEM (THE ONLY GIRL) LOOKED AS IF SHE HAD BEEN FORCED TO PERFORM. FINALLY, AFTER THE INTERMISSION, DR. COSBY WAS INTRODUCED TO AN ENTHUSIASTIC AUDIENCE. HIS MATERIAL WAS UP TO PAR, BUT FRANKLY, I THINK HE REALLY SHOULD RETIRE. THE DELIVERY LACKED ENERGY, ENTHUSIASM AND THE MAGIC THAT HAS ALWAYS BEEN HIS TRADEMARK. TOWARD THE END OF THE SHOW HE ASKED SOMEONE IN THE FRONT ROW FOR A TIME CHECK...HE DID A SHORT SHTICK ON A VISIT TO THE DENTIST....AND SAID GOODNIGHT. I WAS DISSAPPOINTED, THOUGH I WAS GLAD TO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE MAN IN THE FLESH. OVERALL THERE WERE A FEW REALLY GOOD LAUGHS, BUT MAINLY THANKS TO THE VENUE, IT WAS A PLEASANT EVENING.

    LOL Kids comedy night

by Donnama on 2009-11-03Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

This was just a wonderful nite for me, my daughter and her fiance! So much was learned about the Foothills Academy.... I never even knew it existed! The kids were amazing - takes so much courage to get out in front of 2000 people and do your stuff!! Congrats to each and every one of them.... As for Bill - he never ceases to bring laughter to the crowds through every day life experiences and to find the humor in life in general. My soon-to-be son-in-law applauded as one of the "soon to be married" and I'm sure Bill looked his way and spoke to him the rest of the night.... Worth every nickle....and I would surely go again and with new found knowledge of the Foothills Academy, I will gladly make recommendations to anyone to shares their frustation of their child's perceived handicapp with me.... Thank you, thank you..... Donna

Cosby was fantastic and the kids who opened too

by Parents on 2009-11-03Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

what a great event and Bill was right on the money when he joked about peoples perceptions of learning disabilities....so who is stupid!? the kids who opened for Bill did a great job and have fantasitc careers ahead of them. John from Foothills Academy was truly amazing at the tender age of 13 he was very polished in his delivery, I'm sure Bill would agree.

    Inspiring Night with Bill Cosby

by Mulvaney on 2009-11-03Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Not only was Mr. Cosby a true classic but the inspirational message delivered on behalf of Foothills Academy (the education cause Mr. Cosby came to support) was amazing. Bill Cosby's respect for his audience coupled with his support for this fine institution that helps young people with learning disabilities (or differences, as he called it) opened my eyes and brought joy to my heart.

    very entertaining

by grandmarm on 2009-11-03Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I felt that since it was a kids comedy night he dwelt too much on marriage and not enough on stuff some younger kids could understand. there were quite a lot of kids 10 - 15 and marriage did not relate to them. You can tell he is getting old.

    Amazing !!

by nannysmith on 2009-10-18Casino Rama - Orillia

It was so wonderful to sit and be entertained by a seasoned performer who does not think he has to swear and be crude to be funny....Bill is dead on, in his mannerisms and his topics ... this is the second time I have seen him... once many years ago and both times he was simply amazing and we came away happy and lighthearted after having many long laughs...Way to go Bill !!!!

Funny as ever. Age only adds to his material and doesn't take anything away. Great to see him.

    A little slow!

    by springchicken1 on 2009-10-05Casino Rama - Orillia

This is the second time in just over a year that we have seen Bill Cosby. We found him to be quite slow starting off this time, with a lot of pauses and silent moments. As the night went on though, he seemed to pick things up and we quite enjoyed him. Not sure if we would go again.

    A Living Legend

by acandace on 2009-10-05Casino Rama - Orillia

There are no words to properly express how important it was to see Bill Cosby live! It was more than an event, it was an experience. He is a living legend and no matter what you pay for the ticket, if you get the chance to see him... it is a must! Loved the show from beginning to end! And because he is a true professional, he chose to come do the show even though he had just had cataract surgery and his vision was impaired. And yet, we did not feel cheated in any way. It was an absolutely amazing night.

    GPS Joke was Great

by Anonymous on 2009-10-03Casino Rama - Orillia

Bill was a bit slow getting out of the gate. I have to ask why you would allow a act to go on stage when he just had surgery. I don't feel that that allowed him to drive his full potential. I also think that it took away from the show as I have seen him before and he is much more lively and responsive. Also not sure he should have focused on his personnel situation to carry half the show. Still funny. I would be open to two complementary tickets to another show as it was the first time that my wife and I have visited RAMA and we were impressed and would love to come back and make a weekend out of it including some gambling. regards

    Bill Cosby

by valiquette on 2009-10-03Casino Rama - Orillia

I have waited so long to see him in person and it was well worth the wait. My husband and I had been through a tough week and we needed some laughter in our lives. Bill had us in stitches all evening. If he comes back we will certainly go and see him again and take many of our friends and relatives. He can bring you to tears and its all good, clean comedy.

    cosby was great

by hottubber on 2009-10-03Casino Rama - Orillia

Cosby, Casino Rama 3rd Oct/09 - he was led out with some help due to having had cataracts removed but put on an excellent performance. A lot of new and improvised material and some classic oldies. The dentist bit was particularly entertaining. Great laughs would recommend to anyone.
