About

BILL COSBY ON TOUR:

Legendary family funnyman Bill Cosby has been making America laugh for over half a century, proving that clean, wholesome humor still has a welcome place in today's stand-up circuit. From his days as Jell-O's spokesman to his role on the eponymous Cosby Show, his folksy demeanor and all-inclusive comedy have made him a national treasure, with a fanbase that spans generations. Hot on the heels of 2013'S Bill Cosby: Far From Finished — his first TV standup special in 30 years — Cosby is once again on tour, treating audiences around the country to his signature brand of family-friendly comedy.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Cosby  was a class clown as a young student, but he was also a high achiever, acting as captain of the baseball team and class president. After a demanding work schedule led him to drop out of school, he joined the Navy, continuing to hone his comedic talent while shooting  the breeze with fellow servicemen. Soon after his time in the service, Cosby began performing at clubs around the country, ultimately landing a pivotal spot on NBC's Tonight Show. That appearance gained him the exposure he needed to break into acting, paving the way for his Emmy-nominated role on the show I Spy and his popular Saturday morning cartoon Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids. His biggest success, however, was the era-defining Cosby Show, which dominated airwaves in the '80s as the most popular TV show in the country for five straight seasons. In addition to numerous acclaimed acting roles, Cosby has continued to perform and record stand-up over the years, racking up a whopping nine Grammys for his comedy albums and cementing his place among the giants of American comedy.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Enjoyed 2hours of laughs! He combined some old material with new material and the result was great laughs. It was a pleasure to experience good clean fun --- no profanity or descriptive sexual encounters used to get a cheap laugh."

"Still he can captivate an audience for 2 1/2 hours while sitting in his chair just telling us hilarious stories as if he was in our living room, just making us laugh our heads off!"

"Cosby is a master. He spoke for 2.5 hours without a note or a prompt. He just told funny story after funny story."

    Cosby was cool

by Heyheyhey on 2009-10-02Casino Rama - Orillia

This is *not* the Bill Cosby from his classic standup days. This is *not* Robert Culp's tennis buddy. This is *not* Cliff Huxtable. This *is* Bill Cosby (I think). Mr. Cosby talks about family. His wife. His kids. His grand-kids. While this is not new in his routines there is definately a change in perspective - he now has the "long-view". He talks about growing old - something everyone will relate to - eventually. The humor in his narratives takes some time to build - punctuated here and there with asides that falsely deviate from the story at hand - but we do get to the end of each thread and the ultimate absurdity or unexpected happening that lets the audience release a sometimes pent-up need to laugh. Bill did end the appearance with a routine from his classic standup days - the trip to the dentist - which I'm not sure how many times I've heard - but like always I nearly wet my pants listening to it - similar to when Bob Newhart does the Sir Walter Raleigh discovering tobacco in the New World and "phoning home " to England to report - timeless bits that never fail to crack ribs. It was my first time seeing Mr. Cosby in the flesh and I was glad to simply be there. I was fully entertained and very happy to have made the trip.

Getting too old for sit-down comedy

by pjdksmith on 2009-10-02Casino Rama - Orillia

Cataract surgery has made him virtually blind. He's forgetful; more reminiscing then comedy. The best part was the urine and dentist. Would not recommend.

    Cosby was amazing!

by Whip on 2009-10-02Casino Rama - Orillia

Just went to see Bill Cosby at Casino Rama. What am amazing, funny guy. He has a knack of being able to talk about everyday things and make you laugh until you cry. We were in stitches from the moment he hit the stage to when he left. He had cataract surgury and had to be helped on and off the stage. He took that in stride and actually made it part of his act. I think I just went to see the funniest man on the planet. We wish him a speedy recovery. Bill you are the best!
