BILL COSBY ON TOUR:

Legendary family funnyman Bill Cosby has been making America laugh for over half a century, proving that clean, wholesome humor still has a welcome place in today's stand-up circuit. From his days as Jell-O's spokesman to his role on the eponymous Cosby Show, his folksy demeanor and all-inclusive comedy have made him a national treasure, with a fanbase that spans generations. Hot on the heels of 2013'S Bill Cosby: Far From Finished — his first TV standup special in 30 years — Cosby is once again on tour, treating audiences around the country to his signature brand of family-friendly comedy.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Cosby  was a class clown as a young student, but he was also a high achiever, acting as captain of the baseball team and class president. After a demanding work schedule led him to drop out of school, he joined the Navy, continuing to hone his comedic talent while shooting  the breeze with fellow servicemen. Soon after his time in the service, Cosby began performing at clubs around the country, ultimately landing a pivotal spot on NBC's Tonight Show. That appearance gained him the exposure he needed to break into acting, paving the way for his Emmy-nominated role on the show I Spy and his popular Saturday morning cartoon Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids. His biggest success, however, was the era-defining Cosby Show, which dominated airwaves in the '80s as the most popular TV show in the country for five straight seasons. In addition to numerous acclaimed acting roles, Cosby has continued to perform and record stand-up over the years, racking up a whopping nine Grammys for his comedy albums and cementing his place among the giants of American comedy.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Enjoyed 2hours of laughs! He combined some old material with new material and the result was great laughs. It was a pleasure to experience good clean fun --- no profanity or descriptive sexual encounters used to get a cheap laugh."

"Still he can captivate an audience for 2 1/2 hours while sitting in his chair just telling us hilarious stories as if he was in our living room, just making us laugh our heads off!"

"Cosby is a master. He spoke for 2.5 hours without a note or a prompt. He just told funny story after funny story."

So amazing!!!! I can't even put into words...Cosby has a way of telling stories that you imagine them in your head. If you're not familiar with his style of comedy, be sure to be patient...it takes a while to get to the punch line, but I assure you, it is hilarious. What a legend!

    Good show from a master

by Anonymous on 2009-11-14River Rock Show Theatre - Richmond

Was a good show with some great laughs. Started off slow but picked up through various parts. Cosby s worth seeing no matter what, he's a living legend. Standing ovation when he walked onstage was testament enough to that. Downsides were all the audience's fault, sadly... - people shouting out from the audience and interrupting his monologues - person who wanted their book signed at the end... it's a standup show, not an autograph booth - the 'no flash photography' rule didn't deter some people, and didn't see the venue staff rushing to stop it

    Bill's still got it...

by BrotherD on 2009-11-14River Rock Show Theatre - Richmond

The show started off a little slow and I was concerned that Bill was going to babble on and try remembering things he had forgotten from his dialogue. The pauses during his story telling were a little too long, but that's Cosby's trait and style he's developed over the years. All in all though, the show was a sucess and it was very entertaining. The proof was in the continuous laughter from the audience. It was a comfortable setting and it seemed very intimate with Bill sitting in his chair with a side table and an area rug. A job well done for a comic of his age.

My husband and I took our adult grandsons ages 22 and 24 to the show and we all loved every minute of it. Our grandkids have enjoyed his vidoes over the years so it was a special treat to see him in person they laughed thru the whole thing...my husband and i had seen him in Vegas in the 80s and enjoyed last nights show as much as then. River Rock is a very classy theatre

Bill Cosby has still got it!

by HovoKat on 2009-11-14River Rock Show Theatre - Richmond

He may be in his 70's but he's just as funny as ever! Truly enjoyed his show last night at the River Rock theatre in Richmond. He may not be as quick on the draw but come on he's getting a little older so give him a break! He's not only funny but a good person so I was happy to buy a ticket.

Without a doubt this man was and is a tremendous talent but my wife and I found Bill's performance rather boring and slow paced. The show started 15 mins. late and his routine never developed any flow. I think most people were disappointed and were expecting much more. He needs to update some of his material as well include stories from his past. All in all not worth the $78. per ticket. Also the seats in the River Rock are very uncomfortable.

    Bill is still great!

by CPru on 2009-11-09Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I loved Bill, although he does go on & on about the same topic (marriage), which the kids wouldn't have 'gotten'. And since it seemed to be an event targeted for kids, it may not have been the most appropriate topics to focus on? I also didn't realize it was a big fundraiser/focus on the Foothills Academy. I paid big bucks for this show, to see Mr. Cosby not hear about the school and some kids trying to be funny. Not that they weren't, a couple were quite impressive, but that's not what I paid my $75 for. In any case, I wanted to see Mr. Cosby as I never had before. so I guess I can't complain too much. It's only money right.

What an incredible opportunity for these five young comedians! They all did a fantastic job! Mr Cosby was charming, witty and amazingly endearing as always, he has made me laugh since I was a child, and I was delighted to share this evening with my children and grandchildren.

    Bill Cosby LOL

by Asante on 2009-11-03Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

What an entertaining night. The teenage comedians were talented and enjoyable. It was exciting to see such promising youngsters on have a great opportunity and do it with such verve. Bill was awesome!!! I hope he comes back to Calgary. I would definitely see such good clean fun again. My only question is why did he rush off the stage and not stay for a standing ovation? Did he have to go to the washroom?

    Wonderfulness

by Hotspur on 2009-11-03Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

If only he had done the comedy albums, I would have been there. If only he had broken the Colour barrier and starred in I Spy, I would have been there. If only he had done the top rated television series, I would have been there. Bill Cosby has done all of that. That we could see him here 2 days after he recieved the Mark Twain Award at the Kennedy Centre is a rare honour. He was wonderful. He relies a litlle bit too much on mugging the camera but that is Bill. I wish he would give us just a little of the old albums to remind us of where we all came from but it is hardly a criticism that the material was all new to me. The whole night was a fundraiser but that was not apparent from the advertising for the event. The person from Foothills Academy should not have lectured the audience who had paid to be there. The young comedians were fun and watchable and created the atmosphere appropriate for Mr. Cosby. We really liked John. We were hoping there would be some banter between the Cos and the children since that is his strong point but were not disappointed with that part of the show.
