BILLY CONNOLLY IN CONCERT:
Sideways-thinking and speed-chatting Scotsman Billy Connolly is a consummate improv performer and storyteller, regaling crowds with off-kilter folk songs and ridiculously circuitous stories for decades. Fans can always expect something weird, canny, and Scottish at his winking live shows as he works his way through new material and old standbys from his expansive discography. Having bounced back from prostate cancer in 2013, he remains an unstoppable force of funny on his 2014 tour.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Originally trained as a welder, Glaswegian comic Billy Connolly was inspired to a life of performing after one too many drinks at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Seeing the freaks and geeks he realized he could do the same, taking up banjo lessons and forming the comic-folk duo the Humblebums. His hilarious introductions before the band’s shows gained him recognition as a comic, and when the band split in the '70s, he took his act solo. Since then, he's gone on to achieve legendary status as a funnyman, writer, actor, and massive influence on subsequent generations of "tongues."
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Billy Connolly is one of the best comedians! I've seen him perform in multiple countries now and have never been disappointed."
"Billy was the best comedy show I have ever seen. Laughed so hard I cried and my sides hurt.”
So impressed! Not only was Billy hilarious, but he stood without resting for 2 hours! Great show!
You can take the man out of the arctic but... But you can't take the Scot out of the man! Anyone that follows Billy knows he is a globe-trotter and adventurer... a risk taker... and this is the fodder of great story-telling. And that is what Billy is... a story-teller that captures the listener (and audience) in a rare and wonderful way. I was tempted to shout out "Bryan Pearson" and "Iqaluit" when Billy shared his tale of taking a ride on a kamotiq, down wind from a team of huskies who were prone to robust "toots" having ingested large amounts of raw seal meat. Billy has stomped the terra in many locales - even my home town of Iqaluit in Nunavut. He then draws upon this vast experience to spin riotous tales... some of which he insists is true (cross my heart). Two solid hours of laughter peppered with some poignant moments cloaked in jest, Billy is an entertainer with a capital E. A rare breed and not to be missed. Hate to say it Billy, but you were on my bucket list! Lang may yer lum reek.
What a great show! It has been some time since I saw Billy last. And, the wait (due to various reasons) was worth it. You may have slowed physically, but not mentally. You're still mental and I love ya for it.
Laughed till my sides hurt. A truly gifted man and admirable at that. To find humour in his own illness......a pure gem!! He is, and will always remain a star.....gonyersel!!!! :)
looked forward to seeing Billy for years, counting my luck that he came to ottawa and that i got to be there. Every minute was enjoyable of a wonderful performance and meeting Billy will be thing that I will enjoy for years to come. Easily my favorite comedian. Thank you Billy and everybody who made it possible!
This is our fifth time seeing Billy live as always he delivers a phenomenal performance true to himself and the connection with the audience comes across as a great conversation. His comedy is always believable .always have been a big fan since his big banana feet days and always will be no matter what Billy does he can't do wrong! A fabulous show !
I'm normally very satisfied with the events at the NAC. Unfortunately this was the first time I was disappointed. It was also the first time I was in the boxes on the balcony. Maybe that's why the sound quality was so poor. Albeit, Billy has an accent but I don't think that was the issue. The sound was muffled and there was an echo. I've also heard other complaining about the sound quality. As far as Billy's performance, it was fantastic. If you love his humor, his performance won't disappoint you. The hall's sound quality on the other hand....
I was shocked to see his physical condition but he addressed that right off the bat. Sorry to hear re his illnesses, but it hasn't affected his wit or, for the most part, his delivery. Marvellous story-telling and the 4 of us agreed his show was up to our (high) expectations!
Thankfully, I have seen Billy many times -- way way back in the early 90's -- and he never disappoints. Thanks for the memories and great laughs -- Very Best of Luck w Parkinsons --- a horrible disease ...
Billy was on stage for over 2 hours but time flew by. His humour is quite often risque and close to the edge and generally rude and crude but he's the master of story telling. Would highly recommend seeing him while you can.
The evening was filled with funny and memorable stories. Billy is a true Gem!
Billy Connolly came out on stage looking somewhat frail and admittedly, I was a bit worried. But he addressed his health condition and then he was "off and running". The man is truly inspiring. He's 73 years old with Parkinson's and he stood on the stage for a solid 2 hours and 15 minutes entertaining the audience with his remarkable story-telling and gritty humour. I swear I felt as if I had travelled to Scotland with him! I was exhausted from laughing and hope he comes back.
Billy still has his creative and wonderful style that I have seen now for the 4th time. He had some great moments and then some Scotland specific which is fine but just didn't get it. I love Billy and hope he beats his health issues as he is one of the last greats out there since the passing of George Carlin and of course Robin
He's till got it! After all these years Billy can still make you laugh at life and, in these days, that's a miracle in itself. I enjoyed the show immensly and his stories had me laughing from beginning to end. Get yourself tickets NOW!
not your normal brand of stand up with rifle shot jokes this was a true storyteller started with a story went way around it and wow back to beginning wish him all best he is a legend of sorts
From the second Mr. Billy Connolly walked on stage he had us laughing. He told a wide range of things over his life. Keeping us laughing the whole time he was on stage. I wish a had the money to have got tickets for the second day. I would love to see it again.
Unfortunately he has passed his prime. He illnesses have caught up to him and his répertoire is very much a vulgar rambeling. The audience was excited to see him and grew quiter as the evening went on. My seat neighbor actually fell asleep...we left before the show ended. I saw him a few years aga and had such a great evening, this was a disappointment.
As always a side splitting performance. Good on you Billy for shedding light on your Parkinsons and cancer - serious subjects that you managed to find great humor in!
We have seen Billy Connolly several times over the years and are quite used to his profanity but it is not funny anymore. The first 20 minutes he spoke about Toronto, current events and his parkinson's he was quite funny but after this it was boring. Our friends both fell asleep. He talked straight for just over 2 hours with no intermission. He was losing the audience. I loved him before not so much now.
Billy was fantastic! I have wanted to see him for a long time.
