About

BILLY CONNOLLY IN CONCERT:

Sideways-thinking and speed-chatting Scotsman Billy Connolly is a consummate improv performer and storyteller, regaling crowds with off-kilter folk songs and ridiculously circuitous stories for decades. Fans can always expect something weird, canny, and Scottish at his winking live shows as he works his way through new material and old standbys from his expansive discography. Having bounced back from prostate cancer in 2013, he remains an unstoppable force of funny on his 2014 tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Originally trained as a welder, Glaswegian comic Billy Connolly was inspired to a life of performing after one too many drinks at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Seeing the freaks and geeks he realized he could do the same, taking up banjo lessons and forming the comic-folk duo the Humblebums. His hilarious introductions before the band’s shows gained him recognition as a comic, and when the band split in the '70s, he took his act solo. Since then, he's gone on to achieve legendary status as a funnyman, writer, actor, and massive influence on subsequent generations of "tongues."

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"First time I have managed to see Billy live and he was amazing. We laughed from the minute he came on until he finished.”

"Billy Connolly is one of the best comedians! I've seen him perform in multiple countries now and have never been disappointed."

"Billy was the best comedy show I have ever seen. Laughed so hard I cried and my sides hurt.”

Having never had the fortune to see Billy live before I was heading in with seriously high expectations. Well let me tell you they were met. This show is not for those with weak bladders.1 because of the constant laughter and 2 beacuse he played for a whopping 3hours with no break. Great gags which were all new from any dvd i had seen. A laugh a minute. Thank you Billy

Billy "The Big Yin" - Never better

by BigWes on 2010-11-04Hamilton Place Theatre - Hamilton

Billy Connolly stepped onto the Hamilton Place stage at 8:10 PM and for a solid two hours and forty five minutes held the capacity audience in the palm of his hand. No props, no accompanyment, and in his words "no act" were required, just his irreverent view of the world and the people he meets along his way. Worth every penny - if you have the opportunity to catch his act - don't hesitate.

Billy Connolly provides full value and more

by jimmiep on 2010-11-04Hamilton Place Theatre - Hamilton

For 3 solid hours we sat in Billy's livingroom listening to a "favourite uncle" tell tales and spin stories of his life that made us feel that it was part of our lives too. He along with George Carlin are/were among the very few comedians who can incorporate obscenities into their act and make us laugh without seeming crude or offensive. The time flew by much like the way Billy flew across the stage and left us wanting to hear more about his least favourite teacher and strange family members and acquaintences.

    A work of Art.

by ghenghis on 2010-11-04Hamilton Place Theatre - Hamilton

An amazing Comedian. In his 60's, and he capivated the entire audience for 2 hours and 40 minutes solid. I think he could have talked all night. Though, I believe one would need a British/Irish background to understand his jokes and sense of humour. He is certainly one of a kind. Thank-you Billy for a very funny night.

My son and I laughed hysterically for almost three hours and left the theatre with no mascara on from crying (well I did anyway!) Billy is a genius! You never know what is going to come out of his mouth - everyone should experience seeing him at least once - you won't regret it!!! Watch his series on TVO "Journey to the Edge of the World" as he treks across Canada - brilliant series (7pm Fridays). Well worth watching :)

Want a good laugh go see this man

by Gurga on 2010-10-15Burton Cummings Theatre - Winnipeg

I have alot of connollys movies he made, and I never tire watching him, whatever it is he is showing you, he has the little comments that make you chuckle, he is even funnier in person with his mic jagger legs, I find his humour to be easy to listen to and easy on the ears, although he does use slang and swears in person alot, it is mild with his accent, he is gentle and easy going, on his motorccycle still at his age, looks great. I believe anyone with a sense of humour would enjoy his humour, as he makes fun, but in a good way, yet just enough to make it hularious, as he goes on and on, while your still cracking up over the first part. well folks that it thats not all I couild say as you can see I am a fan .... only by purchasing one of his vhs movies, I found him Gurga Winnipeg
