BLUE RODEO IN CONCERT:

Canadian roots rock mainstay Blue Rodeo has been sending fans "Head Over Heels" with their country-tinged sound and lighters-in-the-air concerts for more than three decades. The group has won a dozen Juno Awards in their home country, and they've earned a global fanbase with their approachable sound and unforgettable live performances. They've been called one of Canada's best live bands, and it's easy to see why as co-vocalists Jim Cuddy and Greg Keelor tag team anthemic favorites like "Lost Together" and "5 Days in May". Fans looking to catch up with with these veteran rockers won't want to miss them any time they perform favorites from their decade-spanning discography on tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Blue Rodeo was formed in the early '80s by Jim Cuddy and Greg Keelor, two Toronto high school buddies who started playing music together after graduating. Following a stint in New York they returned to Canada and put together a band, and in 1985 Blue Rodeo played their first show at The Rivoli in Toronto. After two years of performing and honing their sound, the group released their 1987 debut album Outskirts to a Top 20 spot on the Canadian charts. A steady string of popular singles and albums followed in the late '80s and '90s, including country chart-toppers like "Try" and "Til I Am Myself Again". Their success continued in the '00s with no less than five Top 10 albums on the Canadian Albums Chart and a star on Canada's Walk of Fame. Over the course of 13 albums Blue Rodeo has won a whopping 12 Juno Awards, and they continue to impress with their time-honored sound and undeniable onstage chemistry every time they tour.

  • Blue Rodeo should be a Canadian institution

This is the second time I have seen Blue Rodeo live and my opinion hasn't changed. They are the best and most entertaining live act out there. I will always make a point of seeing them when in the area.

  • Blue Rodeo and Jeremy Fisher in the Park

    by Chuck13 on 2009-07-14Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

A great and gorgeous night at Malkin Bowl, with Jeremy Fisher playing a few songs and easily being worh the price of admission all by himself. Blue Rodeo gave a solid performance to an appreciative crowd. The expected tightly performed songs and superb vocals kept everyone engaged.

  • Perfect Night at Malkin Bowl with Blue Rodeo

by BlueRodeoFan on 2009-07-14Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

It was an absolutely perfect summer night at Malkin Bowl. The seating was fabulous and in good old fashioned Blue Rodeo style - they even invited the audience to come up to the front and dance the night away. You'd be on your feet anyway most of the night. Brought my daughter along for a night out! Young or old, they never lose their charm.

  • Blue Rodeo-not just country

by WineandRoses on 2009-07-14Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

I wasn't overly familiar with Blue Rodeo when we decided to go, so had no expectations. Our friends said they were classified as country but I was pleased to hear they were pretty rock for a "country" band. They may have been around for a long time, but their vocals are still in fine shape. Fabulous music and ambience at Malkin Bowl on a summer night, with the added bonus of eagle watching while waiting. Even the concession food was good.
